  1. If it's shaped like a slot, it's a slot regardless of if it L's or not. Some people just call them L port boxes.

and when do people use the L in a port? to change the tuning of their box if it isn't deep enough?

On most ported boxes to get correct port length with enough port area it can require L'ing the port. Basically just adding length to get desired tuning.

ahh ok, thanks 727 and DC for the info, and if you have to add the L for extra length is it normally to tune lower or higher? or does it always depend on the type of box?

  2. sorry for thread jacking but i'm trying to figure out how to use this properly, on the port dimensions what's the length of the port? is it the depth of the port if so, how can the port be deeper than the box itself? I probably have something wrong here but that's why i'm asking.

It bends like an L.. remember it the length from the point of the L to the back of the box always has to be equal the width of the port

ohh ok, see i was thinking this was a common slot port not an L-port if that's what it's called? so if it were a regular slot port the length can't be more than the depth of the box right? as you can tell i'm a n00b at this, but i'm trying to learn :D

Oh i thought it was called a slot port cuz it looks like a slot LOL, We were both confused

well i'm not sure either, if i'm correct a slot port is this IMG_0528.jpg

and then if the port takes a bend like an L, than it's an L port? I hope i'm right, if i'm not than i'm looking too crazy right now.

  4. i try not to turn it up when innocent people may be in the line of fire. never know who you might be pissing off.

x2 the only time I'll crank my system in like a drive thru or at a red light is if there is a car full of some dickhead highschoolers bumping their sweet $500 best buy system.

ps mcgangbang is FTW. Best food you could ever get for $2.15 lol.

    Whats wrong with 500$ systems???

What the fuck is a mcgangbang

like said before in another thread, mcgangbang is god!! :woot:

  5. Well I wont be getting them till next month, since I just finished buying all the stuff for my lvl 3s. What is a decent priced amp that would give them justice?

    how about this? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_33003_MB-Quart-FX4.50.html

autotek, crunch, hifonics, and mb quart are all made by maxxsonics electronics, I've heard nothing but good things about MB quart's new amps, if you go with MB quart i'd go with this one if you want to get the most out of those speakers mainly the 6.5's. Since you're gonna be running the amp at 4 ohms with the speaker configuration you have going on right now.http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_25535_MB-Quart-REF4.80.html

Ya I saw that one too. Didn't know which would be best.

I would've gone even a bit bigger on power but that's just me, I always want a lot of wiggle room just incase I get more speakers or more powerful speakers but since you're on a budget I didn't recommend it, the one I sent you should do good.

  7. I'm running the Rockford T1 6.5 coaxials in my car and couldn't be happier, the midbass is simply amazing and the tweeters aren't harsh to the ear, just loud, clean, and sound amazing. Here are the 5 1/4's http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate-T152-Car-Speakers-5-25-2-Way-120w-NEW-/400232474278?pt=Car_Speakers&hash=item5d2fb6e6a6 and here are the 6.5's http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate-T152-6-5-speaker-free-6x9-5x7-plate-/300579491787?pt=Car_Speakers&hash=item45fbef0fcb#ht_1447wt_905, 125 dollars sounds like a pretty good deal to me :good:

edit: like said above my post, most people will recommend components for the front doors ran active and coaxials for the rear doors, atleast that's what i've seen on the forum.

Ya, the loan isn't paid off on my truck yet and don't want to do any door mods until it is. I think a nice set of coaxels to go with my 2 DC lvl 3 10's would sound good. I was actually looking at those same Rockfords too.

i'd go with the rockfords if I were you, maybe because i'm biased towards rockford haha, do those speakers some justice and throw some power at them if you do get them please :D
