I guess I think of it from a scientific point of view. When you get below tuning immediately you unload. When you research it, you get the same info as plotting with software... you see excursion just JUMP way up and ouput down. So I can see getting as much as 5Hz lower than tuning solidly, but I have to guess that the rest is due to the car being part of your enclosure? Your box sitting out in your driveway may be tuned to 31Hz, but as soon as you put it in your car, now the whole car is the enclosure, and maybe it is tuned to 25Hz as a whole now, so now you can drop down to 22 without a filter? So if I went all the way up to 25Hz where the SSF is automaticaly set on the kicker, I'd be just fine... I'd still be tuned lower than almost everyone else, I would still be able to hit 20Hz safely.... I take that back... you're not using a SSF, I don't want one either until 20Hz. I don't want 20Hz-25Hz being taken out in the least. I know, it's only 5Hz, but the point is I want the absolute lowest the loudest... so if there is anything there, I don't want it being filtered at all and I dont want it unloading at all, I want it PEAKING there. With a SSF at 25Hz, 5 Hz down from that is barely affected... but I'm being overly anal about this.

1st off, please NO "there's barely any music with info below 30Hz" I know, I know, I know.... I don't care about barely. I want THE lowest songs to be my favorite songs, and I have no problem listening to them over and over once in a while then going back to "normal" music and having it much much quieter because it's significantly above my tuning. I am on yet another box thats tuned below 20Hz, and I LOVE it. However, being OBSESSED with lows as I really am, I still love 30Hz too. Because i tune so low, I can play mad crazy low songs without a care in the world, I can take it. But because of that, songs from 30-40Hz can be hazardous to my health. I need ya'll to talk me out of this < 25Hz crap.... I want a Kicker 2500.1 and a box that will go as low as the lowest song out there. I keep getting larger drivers just to make sure that even above tuning I am still more than happy with my output. What I mean, is when i tune to 15Hz, I get a huge dip in safe power handling from 30-40Hz because the ports not helping excursion much. Basically I am getting close to acting like a sealed box... and hey, if I had a 22" IB3, I should be satsfied with a huge sealed box with my 30Hz on up output. So dropping a 15Hz port into it certainely does NOT make any less from 30Hz on up. So if I am sub 30Hz crazy and I tune at 15Hz, I should still have plenty of output from 30Hz on up, plus, I can drop all the way down and get sick "loud" in the bottom. Not really, i have 1000 watts on an 18" tuned to 15, and it's not "loud".... but the 22" should be, it is equal to 2 18's. Trying to mod the 2500.1 SSF to 15Hz or 20Hz is just too much out of my way... I can't really afford the amp itself right now as it is, let alone tracking someone to mod it. I am good at pushing things too far in the 30-40Hz range because I can take gobs of power from 15Hz-30Hz, but as soon as it gets above that, problems happen. I'm sure as SHIT not gonna tune to 30Hz and call it a day. For the last 2 days I have been getting good listening time so i can shorten my port and raise my tuning to 20Hz and see if I can live with that. Bass I Love you just makes me giggle like a schoolboy bitch. I fuckin like 18Hz! But I am giving up 99% of my other songs to not even hear it, just ... experience it. But you guys keep going on and on about being tuned 27Hz-37Hz and claiming you can get down to 20-24Hz... IDK if we are talking the same "getting down to" with "authority" or not. I could go on all night arguing with myself. What songs actually drop below 25Hz? Bass I love you. Tocotta in B. Anything else? I don't even consider those 2 songs music. They are bass test tracks. Anybody can drop a few subsonic sine waves into a little tune. Any real music with intended content below 25? Cuz I really really want to raise it to 20Hz so I still have "rock bottom" but is 5Hz really enough to make a difference? And if I only raise it to 20Hz, and I am trying my hardest to play songs that reach my favorite sweet 20Hz spot, my kicker SSF @ 25Hz will PISS ME OFF so i would have to do what it takes to drop it a whole 5Hz... I need help. I'm disgusting. I'm starting to sobb. I need to take a couple more Zanex... OK, just kidding... but come on!

thats where I got them today and 2 days ago... the ones that worked were in 10Hz increments, not the one that starts high and slowly gets lower covering virtually all frequencies. for some reason the second time I tried they wont even play on the factory CD player

hey guys, I used to nhave all kinds of sweeps and sine's and I got rid of them cuz I had no subs for a cpl years... I've wasted 5 CD's between yesterday and today.... 1 CD was successful, but it's only sine waves and the "sweeps" are the intervals that skip every 10Hz, not the good one that starts off at 250Hz and slowly keeps going down, no break up, no pause, no skipping a few Hz... I'd like 100Hz or more and all the way down to 15Hz. I downloaded some music yesterday too and wasted 2 more CDs.... I used Limewire and burned with WMP, the 1st disc was OK and the second 2 gave a warning that some songs were copy write protected and of course they dont play. I downloaded my sine waves and sweeps from ROE and the 1st CD works, but not the 2nd... exact same as the 1st plus a couple more tracks

OK, still get dimming lights, oh well. However, when testing the batteries again I realized when I shut the door, the headlights stay on a bit so the front battery dips to 12.18 but after the lighs shut off after a few minutes, it climbs back up to 12.4 or more, so batteries are OK...that's the main thing.

didnt get any final pics that were good... don't have that nice camera anymore, back to the POS but I have a clamp on top post with ground to chassi, clamp on positive with 150A breaker power to back 2 batteries and power to alt, and chassis to motor mount bracket bolt... on the motor side after the rubber bushing even I didn't mess that up haha

tomorrow it will be done! Hey guys, NO DIMMING! THANK YOU! Sorry to whoever I went off on about not using 0/1 gauge... it's been a pet pevie of mine, and... no excuse... I'm sorry man! So it didn't take long, it worked, I have her running now to get a good charge so I can test my batteries again. Now you can all hate too that I didn't use fuses or breakers, so when my shit blows up and I kill innocent people with my fire, hey, ya'll tried to warn me! My smart ass even took a pic of 4 unopened 150A breakers I DIDNT use (I have 6 total, used 1 for power from front to back and 1 as a temporary $60 toggle switch for the amp remote :D ) So I went to walmart, got 2 terminal ring sets, 1 brace top post clamp, 1 long screw for the side post cuz 3 terminal rings per battery is hard on it so I'll test one and maybe redo them all later... and a fuckin package of TP! They ended up being 2 guage! So I brought em back, chick was like "they're not on here sir". Long story short, someone retuned a brand they dont cary and it made it back on the shelves, when i rung them up it did an "OK" beep so I thought, but it was a "not ok" beep. never paid for them! Couldn't exchange them! Ran all over to beat hell with 4 supervisors thinkin I was a thief! They apologized and let me keep them, they actually clamped better than the 4 gauge!!

I'll have to do all these extras now too, since ya all got me motivated to get this done finally..thank you too, cuz I feel much better now that its done! The alt power is very long and tiny guage, and the motor ground to battery neg factory is like 4-5 feet! this should help a lot.

thanks guys. already done! boy I have a walmart story, got my terminals for free! car's running now, pics up loading... nothing interesting but Im a pic/vid whore. I'll post when I get back from testing it out. I tried at the last second to run the motor ground strait to the batt neg terminal, couldnt reach... probably better that I couldn't/didn't? By alternator ground, what do you mean? I have 1 10 or 12 guage wire (ya, thats correct) from the alt to the pos on battery... and the wire harness... I didn't see a ground, assumed it's mounting brackets are the ground?

Sorry if I was snippy on the dimming thread, too many haters right now on the old vids with the bad camera, and pissed about batteries being 12.02 volts... Moving along if I may, I am going now to get wire lengths. I checked earlier, and my alt appears to only have 1 "large" wire and it looks to only be 10 guage! Only other wire is the wire harness/clip with 1 or 2 tiny 16/18/20 guage. What gives? So I just re-read the how to thread... let me clarify: 1 from positive on battery to positive on alt 1 from negative battery to chasis 1 from chasis to engine block correct? Thanks in advance!

nope. only 4 guage. if thats not enough, too bad. I've had plenty of systems over the years, hence all the pics, and this one is a lot smaller than most of them and I have never even done the big 3. I do not buy into the multiple strands of huge wire. it is bullshit. If I were rich and had all the time in the world, I would order 1000 feet, I'd use all gold plated connectors, and I would use gobbs of solder with my map gas torch... all to bring down a little resistence. fact is, thats all bullshit. YES, it helps, yes if 2 exact same systems were side by side and 1 cut corners and one did every last detail, there would be a big difference. But fuck 0 guage. Never had it, probably never will. 4 guage is more than I need. I have a couple extra batteries and 1000 watts. that ain't shit. BTW, I got 3 packs of 4 guage terminal rings the other day, more to come, they are plain copper ones from sturdevants... not pretty gold plated ones from stinger. on purpose

the dimming itself doesn't bother me a bit, it just worries me I am dipping period. with only 2 batteries and a lot more power being pushed I didnt have this problem. Now I have 3 (yeah, even more current draw) and I do. If my batteries are OK and I just need a HO alt and to do the big 3, then I am totally happy. If my batteries are goin on me, oh man....

OK well my ears actually hurt... the kid and ol lady are sleepin, so I finally got to go bump with 2 windows open... HUGE difference when power is an issue... that song is loud on my POS system! I made a CD with 10 tracks, all with the low lows. Maybe mine is remixed or chopped and screwed? It gets LOW. I need a TL and REW. I need to get this impedance figured out and get a damn mic! low
