  1. The box is pre-fab that I built myself - ported. I don't think it's bottoming out because even though it's only heppnening on the low notes, the sub is not moving anywhere near what I know it can do before bottoming out. I should re-word what I said in my original post, by "moving the most" I didn't mean that it was playing at it's lowest frequency, I meant when it was playing low compared to the other notes more commonly played. I'll just end up taking the sub out tomorrow or when I'm off on Monday to do a rookie inspection of teh sub and make sure the bnos isn't falling apart.
  2. Sup SMD? So recently I picked up a pair of 12" DC Level 3's for my Scion and lately I have been having some noice come from one of the subs. I only really hear the noice on the really low notes when the sub is moving the most. It's an audible tapping (almost rattling) coming from inside the box itself. I'm fairly confident the box is screwed down securely and the noice is not a result of it bouncing on and off the wood. My current guess is the bridged speaker wire inside the box is loose and bouncing on and off the sub, but I can't be quite sure without taking the subs out which is not something I want to do again until I'm more confident in what the problem is. So anybody have any ideas as to what it might be based off previous experience or will I need to troubleshoot this from sratch? Thanks.
  3. Well clearly they were not joking. My Rockford Fosgate Level 6 28" tweeter can knock buildings down. They knew their stuff. (jk)
  4. Sup SMD? I'm Chaise and I'm from the great state of Delaware. (lol) I new to the whole car audio thing so if I seem ignorant about the subject, it's because I am. However, if anyone has questions about road bicycles or the Air Force, I'm always open to questions. haha. I drive an '07 Scion tC with two 12" DC Level 3's and an AQ-1200D amp. Gets the job done, that's for damn sure.
  5. bro you live in Dover? i was just up there with my boys.. i see your interest says airplanes. are you in the AF? As to they're site i dno whats up Yeah I'm Air Force. C-5 crew chief.
  6. Is anyone else having problems with the audioque website? I was just at a store that had it up no problems but I can't access it for the life of me at home. It may just be me but I have no clue what's causing it to go to it's hosting website.
  7. Alright, I'll definitely look into building my own box. Gotta figure out the whole tuning and port thing though.
  8. Holden, Alex K - I looked at those earlier and now that both of you suggested them, I'm starting to like them more and more. Living near a dealer (sound of tristate), they shouldn't be too hard to get a hold of either. Thanks pthrift - Didn't think so. Yeah I'm definitely not trying to have some ultra high wattage system. Just something I can call my own.
  9. Sup SMD? I'm fairly new to the whole car audio world and would just like a suggestion on an entry level system from some people who know a lot more about this stuff than I currently do right now. However, I do have a fairly decent knowledge of car audio through random research here and there and talking to people I work with. Saying, that there is still some stuff I have questions on as well. Really the only thing I am curious about right now is the power rating I see when looking at subs. For example, Rockford Fosgate has power ratings written like: "600w RMS 1200w MAX" Is that "MAX" the point where the sub will blow or what? I'm completely ignorant in that department. Ok back to the topic, I've been looking around (i.e rockford fosgate, pioneer, alpine, JL Audio, stores in my area, and some others) and am wondering what yall think is the best for subs and the best for amps (and cables/wires of course). Also, should I get a prefabricated box or look into making my own? Right now I'm pretty much 100% open to options and will take any criticism seriously. As for my budget, I won't to keep this under a grand (which I know is more than possible), and I'd prefer not tearing anything up on my car (apart from panels for cables). I have a Scion tC so the trunk space is pretty ample - plenty of room for at least two 12s(which is my preference). Thanks for the help ahead of time. Peace
