i think that the p3 has a good amount of potential rockfords products just seem to be getting better every year i just want to get a custom box to see if it'll sound better even though i have a pre-fab that is pretty much to the exact specs as rockford suggests -

cant say.... because ive messed with the amp settings since but theres less flex but since i moved the box further back it was loud again i dont think it was a clean sounding as the type r but it seems to be hitting the lows better though it might have to do with adjusting the settings so i cant really say. there pretty close thats all i can really say i just want my new box because i know it will sound good how big should i go with it. i want it to sound clean but loud and hit lows with ease but one thing ive notice after turning the bass boost off my woofer is staying cooler a lot better. bass boost= woofer cooker -

thanks bro i just cant wait till i make my custom box because i want it louder and sound better -
well if you dont know i blew my type because im a dumbass and i didnt know that bass boost can kill your woofer so the cone separated completely from the coil so it was donezors so i took it to best buy and they took a look at it and said that they dont have any type r's but they do have one p3 dual 4ohm 12" and so i said ok just to try somethin new after installing it i turned the bass boost to -12(lowest setting) and turned the gain down a little bit. but it sounds ok but i really want to make a custom because its just not sounding as good as it could sound here are the vids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eobJy2veoQI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIjcaEs9ACU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CP-ymdxN-c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0RFIvShWT0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAIrlswyJ_g i also moved the box further back and it made it louder so thats good. does having your box closer to the back of the trunk make it louder because it did in my case here are some pics of the type r blown and the p3 the new p3 comments welcome

where can i find those im more looking for a website that sells them and not a direct buy from someone
-
you have a recipt and they look at it then they ask what happen to the speaker and i said it just started sounding bad and then the installers saw the cone being ripped from the coil and they were supprised and i went along with it and said i had the gains and everything down pretty low and dont know why it they will check to see if it makes sounds and will check to see if the coil is blown by checking the independence so basically i just make it look like it was a defect so they dont get curious but you pay 24dollars everytime you replace your sub because you have to buy a new warranty everytime that is if you want which you do only downside with best buy is there prices are ridiculous
-
nah i probably wont until i want a new sub again gotta love that best buy warranty best 24 dollars i could spend but to be honest i have my eq frequency at 80hz and L-Pass pretty much all the way down and it sounds ok but i just worked on the amp for like 10 min but is that ok settings or should i change it ...im such a noob but everyone starts somewhere
-
how do i turn the low pass off theres also a subsonic filter is that what it is well i havent done a whole lot of listening yet but it sounds decent but my amp is fully tuned i need to get a dmm so i can get the gains right but its not as loud anymore probably cause the bass boost is off its also in a prefab box that is beginning to fall apart cause its shit but according to rockfords recommended box size and tuning my box is perfect rockford prefers 1.79ft^3 ported and tuned at 40hz which is what mine is around but im still going to build a 2.4-2.7or8 ft^3 box tuned to 34hz cause i bet that will even sound better and i could turn up the power
-
well i got a new sub a rockford p3 ( i posted in the sub section check it out) i turned the bass boost to -12(all the way down) on the amp but left the gain at 3/4 should that be ok though how should i set my eq frequency and the L-Pass crossover btw if your wondering why i didnt get another type r with my warranty its because best buy didnt have any and in fact they only had one p3 so i got lucky to just get a sub
-
well i installed it and turn the bass boost off but i didnt touch the gain i turned it up but i turned it back down to 3/4 because i think thats a good spot for it though i dont really know how to adjust the eq frequency and the L-Pass crossover anyone know how to properly set that
-
4 year warranty for one is like 24 dollars thats what i have
-
well i have 16ga wire that i use for speaker wire i just wondering if it matters if a use negative or positive on the terminals on the sub
-
so today my type r blew because of my stupidity about how bass boost is bad for it and how it can destroy your sub and this is how it destroyed mine but thank god i have a best buy warranty so i took it up and they looked at how fucked up it was and gave me the thumbs up to get a new sub but they didnt have any type r's but they had one rockford p3 so i said ok and bought another warranty because it save me 200 bucks for a new sub here is the new monster but i have a question the type r was simple to set to 2 ohm because they gave you little wires and an easy guide to set it up but the rockford's terminals are on opposite sides and i have to use speaker wire to set it up to 2ohm does it matter what kind of speaker wire i use like negative or positive like this http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woof...ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

well i see people finding there type r 12's over 1000 rms but my amp is rated 600rms at 2ohm but i cant say that that was going to the sub i bet more was going to it it was fun while it lasted though but i think its time to just turn the bass boost off because i dont want this happening all the time next time im going to tune the amp right everyone learns there lessons and i learned mine im just happy i have the best buy full warranty best warranty money can buy
-
well today i was about to make a video of my mirror flex because its flexing like crazy now and is startin to fall down when all of a sudden the sub started to fart and crap out im not too pissed because im sure best buy will just give me a new one but what do you think caused this to happen... looks ok right?? nvm its fucked ouch is it because of my small box and too much power i have my gain set at 3/4 but the bass boost is pretty high the sub never seemed to get super hot after some poundage but i think until my new box im going to turn the gains down a good bit
