  1. 270 amps? That's huge!! I was looking into some alternators and from what I've read and what people tell me 160-180 amps is all I need. I might be wrong here cause I'm still noob at this sound system stuff. Ideally I have about $350 to spend on either a better alt or batt that's why I'm asking this question.

  2. Ideally, do both at the same time, for a few reasons, first off you need either a better/bigger starting battery or a second battery and best would be to replace that optima with a better agm. If you just replace the battery, alt is still working at full potential all the time if you have the system all the way up, and your battery is still going to drop, over time, it will weaken that battery and eventually it will fail. If you have the alt that will cover your entire current demand and battery reserve to cover it to. You will never have voltage drop. Ideally, a 270 amp alt and a ground 31 battery would fit this setup like a dream. 14.8 no drop ever.

  3. I have a DC XL 15" being powered by a RF T2000-1bd and I need help deciding which to upgrade first, alternator or battery? My voltage is super low when I play my music (10.4-11.3v). Big 3 is done, I have 1/0 wires all around, and a yellow top optima under the hood is all I have at the moment. My car is a 1996 Civic Ex coupe (yes it's a tiny car) I don't have much money to spend so whatever is the best solution please let me know. BTW I have an aftermarket alternator that's "supposed" to do 130 amps but ive never bench tested it

  4. My voltage stays around 14.2 if I'm not bumping...I have a small car (1996 Civic Ex coupe) so I think that's why it's dropping so bad. I have a yellow top optima under the hood that's all...Soo should I upgrade batt or get a new alt? I bought an aftermarket alt that's supposed to be 130 amps. I haven't bench test it tho.

  5. I just got this sub installed two days ago and I'm just wondering if I need to break it in. I gotta admit I'm pushing it pretty hard and I can smell voice coil. I don't know if it's glue on the voice coil burning or if I'm pushing it too hard...I have a RF T2000-1bd pushing it.

  6. Has anyone used them before? If so how good is the amp and does the amp put out super clean sound? I currently have a JL 300/4 for my mids and highs but I want to try something new. Of all amps i've used for mids and highs this JL blows them away. Any other good amps for mids and highs out there?

  7. I'm planning on buying a new 15" subwoofer. I'm debating between a DC XL 15" and a Fi btl-n2 15". I'm not familiar with the new Fi stuff so anyone with experience could help me out a little. It'll be a daily set up and I want this thing to pound and have some sq also. Both subs costs about the same ($415-$440). The sub will be getting 2k rms in a trunk of a 96" civic lol.
