200 rms is the problem lol.
Gotta know model etc etc. I have no experience but from what I've heard they need 1000+ rms. Goodluck!
-
I think I know your problem, it's an imaginary sub since Xmas 2011 is still 7 months away
^^^^ that!! Lol jk. Like the other people say "check the ground wires" or wires in general. Goodluck!!
-
That rear deck is gettin busy!
Love that temporal aliasing where your sub looks like it's flexing in waves, LOL. I'm looking at a LV4 sometime in the moderately near future and every vid i see with a DC makes me want one even more. If you got a build log link it here please, and what gear are you running?
Unfortunately I don't have a build log bro. My gears are:
DC XL 15"
RF T2000-1BD
Optima yellow top
1/0 big 3
1/0 all around
Stock alternator
10 farad RF capacitor
JL 300/4
Sony Xplod mids and highs

awesome! that sub is a beast.
Thanks bro. I still need to upgrade my electrical tho lol.
-
-
"your experience" lol u certainly are correct!! But I'll upgrade the electrical ASAP!!
-
I would say that no it isn't enough, but I believe for your experience level it will be fine. Upgrade your electrical to support the amplifier.
Also, you'll want to get 2 HCCA 12.4s if you want to run the amp at 1ohm.
-
I have a small alt. Maybe 85?? It's a civic lol. But in this case I'll look at my options. Planning to get an alt strong enough for 2000+ rms.
ahh a civic, only thing HO alts are not usually arent cheap but with these cars it will be abit more expensive but def will be worth it!
-
How's his electrical?
-
My friend has 1 old school bd1000 running 2 orion hcca 15s and hit hits hard
-
Still need to upgrade my electrical. All I have done is big 3 and 1/0 wires all around. Planning to get a H/O ALT and extra battery soon tho. And yes 1 amp to 2 subs.
-
To each.
Is your electrical strong enough ?

Hard to say w/o knowing what amperage your stock alt is.
But like Thatkid said, stock alt rewinds generally suck ass at lower rpm's depending on how big they went with it. A stock 65 amp alt being made into a 180-200 amp is a bad idea. Now taking a stok 120 and going to like 160-170 isnt quite as dramatic but you will still see lower end output suffer. Also remember that you are taking a stock case, cramming more shit in it and expecting its cooling to keep up. It doesnt work that way.
-
I'm planning to upgrade my alternator and I'm debating on buying one from DC or have the local shop rewind my stock alt to 165-170 amps?
-
I'm thinking about getting two 12" Orion HCCA and I was wondering if the RF will be strong enough to push the subs. Also should I get the 12.2's or 12.4's?
-
Sucks man. I'm also a part time worker. All the money I make goes to bills. No beats lol
-
do it right the first time, dont cheap out on an alt just to get it earlier, spend the extra money and get something that is gonna last ya, same with a battery and everything else.
your confusing me with your double post, looks like you two different people, had to double take there for a sec, ha ha, anyways, yea, its worth saving a bit, I understand the income side of it, I just took a huge hit at work, ableit I am only part time, but I went from 20 hours down to 8 hours, so I have to get a second job to afford the mazda I want to get kinda sucks it happened right around when I was about to buy one
-
Yea I'm like that also. It's just that my income limits me to get what I need (like that 270 amp) but like the guy above said I'll definitely save up and get something that'll last.

Orion hcca FTMFW!!!
-
Will 220 do the trick? Or should I go as AMI suggest: 270?? Remember guys I only have a Civic!!
-
How much will a 270 cost me? I'm a bit confused honestly Steve Meade ran 1 200 and was fine with 10k watts. Last time I looked at a 250 amp it was around $500 waaaay outta my budget.
thats about right.
check out mechman
gettin a 220 amp alt for a pretty good price

Some alt says 160/100. I'm guessing it 160 amps and 10o idle. Does that mean I dont get the full 160 all the time?
