Was wondering if anyone had any input on which way to go with this. I want to run either 2 12" DDX subs or 1 12" ZVX sub. What would be the better choice?
What constitutes better to you?
-
So im an idiot is what your saying?
Not necessarily, but i cant control your assumptions.
All im saying is that if you are going to assume an enclosure alignment to be best for you just because it is the current fad thing, then your level of knowledge is seemingly quite basic and you need to stick with the most basic approach to it.
You can design the thing the hard way, build it, and be done, or you can take the "ratio" approach, build it, then test it, and then slowly rebuild and modify it one piece at a time until it is correct.
-
nvmnd, looked back and saw the piece of information i overlooked earlier
-
So is there not a ratio - tuning combo that will allow the x series to play a wider bandwidth than just 20-40? And does the same concept aply to the sa's? I appreciate your patience and help with my current situation.
This whole "ratio" mentality of bandpass walls needs to die. The "ratio" approach to bandpasses is the first sign of a true idiot who thinks they know how to design enclosures but doesnt know shit.
If you wanna assume a bandpass will give you the performance you want, and you just assume that those subwoofer options will be the best for you, then you may wanna slow down and think in terms of ratios on this thing.

Simply a suggestion here: ditch the MDF. Go with a more durable material for rings in a door. I'm sure as you know, MDF is very prone to moisture and rotting. HDPE sheets aren't too expensive, although for large thicknesses might be. PVC is an option too. They're almost the same.
ehhh what?HDPE.
If moisture and rotting is a concern, there is no reason to go any further than extira.

t line em.
We are currently designing a T-line for them
Im ready for me and masterwill to get our hands on some.

I might get hammered... He's probably leaving it AMI so Kevin just looks stupid. I wonder if Steve has the power to just ban a vendor? Shit I hope I don't get a vacation
well its a comparison, not a vs thread. i dont see kevin being a problem, just the group of people who feel obligated to trash everything he does. comparisons are no big deal, almost everyone does it. go buy anything at a dollar store that carries the brand name of the store and it will say "compare to" such and such brand. its only a big deal because yall are making it a big deal.
And here I thought all the other vs threads were comparisons. Y'know, comparing equipment.
At the same time I wouldn't like to see this locked, like to see how it plays out.
picture this if you will...
someone makes a thread that says what score they achieved with a piece of equipment. they also say what scores were achieved with another piece of equipment, then they leave it be. there is no big mystery, no asking of what is better. just simply comparing results.
someone else makes a thread and lists two pieces of equipment and asks which one is better, or asks for pro's and con's of each item. that is what we call a vs thread.

Welcome to every forum ever.
welcome to SMD.
yet, if it fell short by 150-300 watts most of you would be right on top of that..... still gonna buy a sundown amp no matter what! never let me down!
and last time I tried to hear the difference between 150-300 watts I couldn't tell
agreed. audio forums are a breeding ground for spiteful and vengeful children who have nothing better to do with their lives than trash talk anyone and everyone for any reason they can find, no matter how senseless and/or immature.
