  1. That is one of my favorite amps. I have abused it many times over the years. When I first got my Diamond Audio D3's, I ran them all on it @ 1ohm. It held up, definately ran a little warm, but it's only rated for 4ohm mono.

  2. I bet that is it, I had the same thing happen with my Pioneer Avic D3.

Still cant figure this out. Strange things are occuring. I ran the ipod straight to the amp. Whine went away...so i traced the problem forward to the head unit. Dicover that somehow if i moved the ANTENNA wire the subs popped...i have no clue why. I am wondering if i did drop the rca cables and it hit the power cable. YES I SHOULD HAVE DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE ON THE BATTERY...on a funny yet sad note i also managed to crack the face of the coating on my p1 sub..

n some headunits there is a micro fuse between the main ground and the rca ground, you might have blown it, happened to me on my Pioneer HU.

    the fix is this:

give it a try my friend, it might solve your problem. always disconnect RCA's befor you disconnect amp/HU grounds!!

    good luck,

  3. I just made a box for my 96 Suburban last weekend. I used 4 15" Diamond Audio D3's. I ended up at 48" wide, 24" tall, 30" deep. The port is 12"x12"x9.75" I have the subs firing up, and the port firing back. The box is tuned @ 34Hz with a f3 of 31.67. There is about 6" from the port opening to the tailgate. I had to have the subs in a V pattern to fit. With sub/port/bracing displacement I was at 15.59 cu ft, so 3.8975 per sub. I had to remove the spare tire to make it fit, since the spare is mounted at an angle.

I still need to upgrade to a bigger alternator, and get a bigger amp. But I have a Rockford Fosgate 800a2 running mono @ 1ohm(I know, it will smoke soon but then my wife will have to let me get a new amp).

It is pretty loud, my rear doors flex out about 1/2" - 3/4" =]

  4. Can't wait. The subs will be here tommorow. I was doing some measuring tonight and it looks like I have enough space to still keep the third row and fit it behind. I plan on firing the subs up and the port towards the rear, but how much space should I make sure to have from the port opening and the tailgate of the truck?

  5. Hello everyone! First time post, been lurking for awhile. Anyways, I just picked up a 1996 Suburban. I put some old Rockford Fosgate RFR-1412's I had sitting around in there with a Rockford Fosgate power 800a2. It just seemed that 2 12's wasn't quite enough. So my wife said I could spend $400 on some budget subs. Well after looking around I found a guy on ebay selling refurbed Diamond Audio D3 15's for $109 each, but to my surprise he had mispriced another of his auctions for new ones at the same price. So for around $400 I got 4 brand new ones. I have never used Diamond Audio before, but from looking around people seemed to like them.

I want to make a ported box, and from looking at their site they suggest 4.5 cubic feet per sub, tuned to 34Hz. I have a ton of space in the suburban, so I didn't know if it would be better to go a little bigger than that. Having no experience with these subs, I have just been modeling different boxes in BassBox 6. I was hoping someone on here has had a little bit of experience with these subs and could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks,

    David
