I'm no expert, but... clipping maybe? I'm thinking people will need to know what % of your max "17" is. Are you at or above 75% of your max volume? What head unit? Brand/model of sub, amplifier used, and how you set your current gain setting may be helpful too.
  2. Thanks, guys. A lot of work went into the car to get it where I want it. I wanted every modification to be subtle. Almost like it could've come from the factory like that.
  3. Looks good! I've made seared tuna a few times. I enjoy cooking Italian food more though. Made an awesome lasagna for the gf and I tonight. Had a 2007 castle rock napa valley Cabernet Sauvignon with it. Decent pairing I thought.
  4. I'd give the cash back and ask for a new tablet. Replacement should be his responsibility.
  5. And because I'm kind of a pic whore, a couple pics of the car it's installed in:
  6. This is the first box for this particular sub for me, so all I can do is give impressions of it without any other comparison. This is also my first go around with aeroports. Dunno if I like them yet, as they do have some port noise. Though you can only hear it when standing back by it with the trunk open, so no real biggie I guess. I keep wondering if I should've went with a standard slot port. Anyways, I absolutely love it. Response is nice, tone is great. I will say the thing is LOUD though. At least, compared to my previous setup: Directed SX12D4 (in a prefab box) on about 650 watts (old amp was a Kenwood 9104D) So, this was a considerable upgrade for me. I wouldn't feel right giving an educated opinion on it, only because it's my first and only experience with a driver of this caliber. I can only say that my ears like it, and I guess that what matters
  7. I didn't like seeing the ends of the plywood. Plus, I did use quite a few screws, so there was a lot of fill too.
  8. Thank you, sir. Both for the compliment, and making quality equipment!
  9. Thanks, gents. You have a great point about paint scraping off when I take an impact drill to them. I was only thinking of getting the most exact color match. FreekDesignz- I hate to admit it, but my mids/highs are some eclipse sp5700's I bought on clearance at my local shop. Well, actually the gf bought them for me for valentines day a couple years ago. I want to upgrade them soon, and (I know, this part is terrible) finally buy an amp for the mids/highs. My head unit is an old kenwood excelon ddx7015. I want to get a new hu sometime soon too, but want to stay with the brand because I bought the kna g510 nav for it too, and want to reuse it. Pic of hu I installed in my car: And I did relocate the front tweeters to higher in the door panel. Though after doing some research, I wish I would've mounted them near where the dash meets the windshield, and facing straight up:
  10. I guess that could work! I'm pretty particular about what I DIY, so I was planning on grabbing the primer and flat black paint out ofthe basement. What I've done with cabinet hardware in the past was to attach them to a scrap piece of cardboard, prime, and paint. Maybe I'm overthinking it...
  11. Oh, and I will try to post a vid tomorrow, though it doesn't really compare to most of the builds on here...
  12. So it's been a couple months since building the box for my dc lvl 4 12 d2. I ended up messing up the color TWICE on the carpet when ordering from partsexpress. But finally got the right stuff. Box is about 2.3 cubes tuned to 33-34 hz. Box is built from 3/4" birch ply: 4" aeroport: In the trunk, with the 2 wrong colors of carpet: And after, with the proper color carpet installed: And yes, I will paint the heads of the port screws black. That shouldn't take long though. Amp pushing it is a directed d2400. Looking for a different amp though. Maybe an aq2200. Anyways, thisis my first box build, so I'm rather proud of it.
  13. I have not used that site before, but have had great luck with www.paintscratch.com
