  1. Yeah do NOT place Damplifier over any previously installed mat product, especially P&S.

This is a simplistic way of thinking of it, but the P&S is already deadening the panel. By placing the Damplifier over the P&S, all you are really doing is deadening the P&S, not the panel. It's more scientific than this, but you get the point.

Best way to remove it is with some heat and patience. Get a heatgun or cheap ass hair drier, heat it up a bit and use a putty knife, plastic scraper, or your hands and start peeling it off. If it's already starting to peel, it should go fairly fast.

Once it's removed you'll probably have a icky mess of brown residue. Hit that with some acetone, mineral spirits, alcohol and get that off.

We see this all the time and in the long run nobody saves time or money installing P&S.

Good luck and I expect pictures! :)

    Later,

Thanks for the response! I know it's probably going to be a pain to remove the P&S, but anything worth doing, is worth doing right. Thanks for the excellent tips on how to remove that junk.

I've read that putting something like overkill between the lid and trunk arms could help as well. Don't know if that is necessary though.

  2. Say, youmentioned you have 2 lvl 4's in the trunk... What did you do to prevent rattles with the rear license plate surround? Did you have to use any deadener on it as well? I'm going to be placing an order with second skin tonight or tomorrow. Going to get one bulk pack to start, and a sheet or 2 of overkill.

oh damn, didnt even realize the tint lol. saw you said they were tinted, but didnt see the difference til i actually tried to notice. but i do like the way that looks. yeah, ive been over to lskonceptz. found a few places with instuctions on how to take out the lense a while ago. just havent had the time or determination to do any cosmetic work to my car lol

  3. just buy the pro and place it on top of the peel and seal.. i don't see how that would hurt anything..its the same as having multiple layers of the stuff

i wouldn't place the SS on top the peel and seal... The peel and seal will eventually come off and then you wont be able to remove the SS and will just end up wasting it.. Do it the right way and remove that tary ass peel and seal.. It is a pain in the ass i know i did the same thing., the SS helps tremendously,

    That was my worry.

  4. I need to apply sound deadener to the trunk. I made the mistake a couple years ago by applying peel n seal (yeah, yeah, stupid move), so I get to try to remove that first.

Anyways, my question. I have a DC lvl4 12, going into a ported enclosure, in the trunk of a 2000 Lincoln LS. I can buy either a bulk pack of damplifier or the pro. Would regular damplifier be enough? Or should I just spring for the Pro, since it is in my budget too? I probably need to pick up a couple sheets of overkill too. Also, if anyone has any tips for removing peel n seal lol.

  5. as everyone else said, go 2 cubes 30-35hz tuning, and 1000rms, 1200rms is fine, the lvl4 will take that well.

    Thanks for the input!

ANother stupid question probably. I used psp's port length calculator. If I do a 2 cube box tuned to 34hz, a single 4" aeroport would need to be 12.72" long. Which I can deal with. My question is: How much room should I allow for the space between the back of the port and the back of the box? My logic wants to say at least the diameter of the tube. But that would mean I would need to make one dimension over 16". Doesn't leave a whole lot of room to mount a sub and port on a single side remaining. How much clearance do I need between the port and the bock of the box?

  6. 345 tires on the rear .... Fuck, I thought my 305s were wide

Oh shit, mistype there lol. 245/40 rears. jeebus, could you imagine the sidewall difference if they were 345/40's?

yeah, i was gonna say goooodness lol. my stock rims are 8.5" with a 245 width on the tire. and if your rims are 8" and your width is 345, thats gotta look pretty interesting...

anyways, ive got a 2000 LS V6 with 2 of those subs, same color DC logos lol. funny how much we have in common. really liking your LS, especially all the lights. been wanting to make mine that way.

Thanks! Here's a link for how to take apart the lights to remove the corner lens:

And, a super easy DIY for tinting the amber corner lens if you prefer to have them like mine:

That last link is from a forum that I'm pretty active on. Same username over there.

  7. Right, the first number denotes tire width in mm. The second number is the ratio of width that the sidewall is high. So, a 345/40 would have almost a 5.5" sidewall. My 245/40 have a 3.86" sidewall. That's an overall diameter difference of 4"

I would do sub back and port back.

    Also,

The sidewall isn't the first number. That's how wide the tire is. the 2nd number denotes the height/profile of the tire. And the third numbe is inch size.

So if it's 245/40/18 then it's 245 millimeters ( I think that's the unit they measure in ) wide 40 millimeters tall, and 18"s in diameter.

  8. diggin it.. what upgrades?

Thanks. I've modified it quite a bit, but tried to be subtle, so it looks like it could've came that way from the factory.

  9. What's up, guys! Name's Pete. New guy with a new sub. DC LVL 4 D2. It's replacing a Directed SX12D4. Just thought it was time to upgrade after getting a mor powerful amp (Directed D2400).

Anyways, I am wanting advice on a ported box (single 4" aeroport). I know the suggested volume is listed as 1.5 cubes, but to me that doesn't seem optimal. Here's what I'm working with:

2000 Lincoln LS V8 Sport, trunk space limitations: 37" wide, 14" high, depth is open.

    single DC LVL 4 12", dual 2 ohm VC's

    Directed D2400 amp (1200w rms @ 1 ohm)

Anyways, I've never built a subwoofer enclosure before. I have built a few cabinets. I will be building the box from 11 ply 3/4 birch. Just wondering what volume is optimal for a trunk enclosure for this driver. I've had suggestions of 2.5 cubes tuned to 34 hz.

Hope to learn alot from here. :)

And, some pics of the car and the sub, just for fun :D
