who recommends??
you'll have zero midbass for what you picked for you 6w4ps. also keep in mind with that you're going to have your mids playing all the way up to tweeter range. it'll work, just don't think it'll sound the best.
so basically you'll want your mids playing something from 80 to somewhere like 4-5khz then your tweets will pick up everything above that.
i haven't used either of those so i don't know what they like. need people who know those to chime in. also i'm not big into sq, just know the basics of setting this up so hopefuly someone who knows shit will say something.
thats what darvex recommends. i did notice that particular bass blocker that they recommended for 6" woofers, that it didnt look like i would have any midbass.

-
ill probably get some from darvex since im getting some more RCAs and battery terminals. i may see if any audio shops here locally has any to tie me down for the time being.
-
i'm not saying you need to go out and buy 2 way crossover. i'm just saying don't crank it until you get the tweets to play the proper frequency range. so until you get your bass blockers.
gotcha. the hz setting goes from 50-250, so i figured 100 was a nut shot of a setting. as soon as i get my tax money, hopefully in the next few weeks, im getting new amps (since this one has no brand name, and no power ratings anywhere on or inside the amp) bass blockers, and the DD1/CC1 combo pack. i guess the CC1 will better help me with what settings to set my mids and highs 4-ch amp to
-
i mean turn your volume down in general until you have it crossed properly so you're not having those tweets play so low.
so, basically recommending crossovers even though the tweets are the ONLY thing running off of the amp?
-
I think you're over thinking it lol. Mine are set up the exact same way you described and I've had absolutely no problems at all. No bass going into my tweets, so I'm assuming that the hpf on my amp is doing it's job.
yeah since low pass is obviously for the lows, and high pass for the highs. i really feel like im over thinking it lol. i just dont wanna burn up my first set of pro audio stuff.
-
you're making your supertweeters play from 100hz and up...
yea that's a problem. lol. turn it down and get your stuff crossed over properly.
generally you want to leave your bass setting at flat on your eq.
there's not much to turn down. its starts at 50hz :/

you will make all of the DC reps proud lol. looks sweet

here's a quick overview of my setup before i get to my question. my h/u has RCA outputs for front speakers, rear speakers, and subwoofer out. one selenium 6w4p per front door running off of the h/u. one selenium st200 each front door, both running off of a small amp (high pass filter on). and sub amp of course is on low pass.
now, when i've adjusted the bass setting on my h/u, ive noticed my subs hit harder or less depending on the +/- that i set it at. my concern is that now with my super tweets hooked up, that if i turn the bass setting on my h/u up, that it will up the bass signal going to my super tweets.
the RCA for the super tweets is plugged to the "rear speakers", and the amp for the tweets is set at roughly 100hz give or take. bass blockers are planned out for the super tweets, but i wanna turn back up the bass setting just a tad to have my subs hit harder, but im concerned that it will also make the bass signal stronger going to my super tweets, regardless of what i have the hz set to.
is this a legit concern? or am i being a puss about all of it?

AQ has their HDC318's for 309ish each plus shipping. should be able to sneak under 700. Fi also had a bunch of 18's that you could get a pair for under 700.

Check autosavings. I think they might still have a 120ft spool of cadence speaker wire. I think in the $20 range
-
I use 16g Raptor. Cheap shit from autozone LOL

well, ive heard good things about MB Quart, but i wasnt sure if the opinions were exaggerated to make the amps seem like the best ones ever made. but i also stick to the saying of "you get what you pay for" and i wanted to make sure that the prices werent a "too good to be true" thing, and they would crap out on me in a few months. i wanted to be smart with my money, and mb quart prices are exactly in my budget range.
-
I run an onx4.125 which has been a great amp for the price, roommate runs a onx1500.1 and a discuss 4.80, also a friend of mine runes the fx4.80. All good amplifiers for the dollar, you shouldn't be disappointed in them.
best answer so far lol
-
yeah, i need something to replace this POS power acoustik that kicked the bucket, and also to replace this amp for my highs that was given to me by my coworker that has no brand name or power ratings anywhere on or inside the amp.
-
well, so far so good.
-
im considering buying a ONX1.1500D to run for my sub, and a ONX4.60 for my mids and highs.
im looking for a yes or no from anyone who has used MB Quart before, has a friend who used/using their amps, and such.
the 1500 is obviously a mono amp, the 4.60 is a 4-ch (mids will be on one channel, highs on the other)
getting both amps from sonic electronix, and here's the links:
1.1500

4.60

question #2 refers to the recommendation for the hz settings for my mids and highs. i have the highs on an amp now, set around 100hz or so (i know kinda low), 1/4 gain, only because i dont know the power ratings for the amp. when i get a CC1, ill be able to tune them exactly.
sorry for all the info, but any help would be great!

6.5? Or 8"?
those are 6.5's. i just put a pair of those in my car
-
i love you guys
sarcastically? or literally? lol hopefully these answers helped
-
why not just the 6x9s? what purpose is there with having 8 tweets?
i agree. dont do a tweet overkill if you dont have the equipment to do it. youll burn up stuff faster than you can spell your name. you'll have 6 tweets with your 6x9's and 3.5's. i had two 6.5 2-ways, and four 5.25 2-ways in my car, all of of the HU, and they sounded good. i would do the 3.5's to the HU, and the 6x9's to the amp, and set aside the 4 tweets for later use when you get more equipment to handle it
-
would it be a good idea to just wire my tweets to my HU?
and just do away with the 3.5s
i would do the 3.5's to the HU. if you do the tweets to the HU, youre gonna have bass trying to go thru them, and bass + tweets = not a good ending.
-
thats a lot of stuff running off of one amp. the most i would do is the 6x9's off of the amp. i wouldnt see running 2-ways, 3-ways, and tweets off of the same amp. just sounds ghetto to me
-
if it does mid 12's stock, then with the air intake, exhaust, and NOS, i dont see how 11's would be impossible. def lookin forward to those dyno numbers! and that vid.

hell, if anything with the mids, ill get them anyways, or maybe the step down from that, and do a comparison with and wihout them, and see if it helps or hurts. but i WILL be getting some for the tweets. just havent gotten to that point. its been a slow and painful process
