Those rockford T1's are great subs. they run great on 600wrms. make sure you make a good box for it though. i think thats one of the most important parts of having a good sounding sub. id say 2^3 to 2.5^3 tuned to 33-34hz.

2.5 cu ft is perfect for each driver...but just watch the power. 300 watts is plenty to get them moving even enough to bottom them out.

exaclty, the cvr i got work real good on 400wrms, but their in a 1.25 cube per sub enclosure. so w/ that big of a box, you wanna be careful of how much power your feeding them. so in short, no, you box is not to big. just set the gains alil lower and you should be fine.

also, it might have be the box you had em in, b/c L5's and L7's get pretty low and loud.

but all that aside, I would say some dc lvl 3 15's should do the trick.

You have more space inside your enclosure with them inverted; but, other than that, virtually no difference.

You may hear a little noise from the pole vent with them inverted though.
