with the power he's running he probably doesn't need a whole 16 per cube, although it wouldn't hurt anything.
i say just go ahead and build it.
-
I think the most notable difference between the two is that sundowns like smaller boxes, while DD's like larger boxes. Both are excellent brands, so just decide what suits your application best.
on another note, this could be considered a vs thread, and might get locked
-
I'm not saying they hurt or help, i'm just saying it's got to be next to impossible to test. to isolate that variable alone seems incredibly difficult. I don't doubt that it was tested rigorously. I do, however, doubt that the tests were done perfectly.
even at that, you can't test EVERY situation. you can make educated assumptions at best.
-
i'm just saying that you can't always trust what you hear
haha but yeah, bigger box, tune higher.
-
you can't really test to see if 45's hurt the score easily. you can't keep all things equal. you'd have to have two boxes, one of them has to be larger by exact amount of volume that the 45's take up, and even then there are going to be other factors that have to play into it. like dimensions of the box, port area, etc.
i've seen people gain from putting a 45 in their highest pressure point. i agree that putting 45's in every corner is a bit redundant, but in some places, it might not hurt.
-
maybe tune a little higher.

i've found that liquid spray on rubber works pretty easy. it's like 10 bucks a can at wal mart. just don't drill too big of a hole
-
i need a goddamn DD1 is what you're saying? lol.
i see what you're saying treydog. that would make sense.
-
I have no idea what the LOC was putting out. it's still chilling out behind his headunit still hooked up. I don't recal the LOC having knobs either
-
gain wasn't touched from previously. sphinx, where would we find those settings?
i really hope the LOC wasn't the problem. It should be a LOT louder than it is. it's to the point where it's barely noticable. you can't even see any excursion. I had the same amp on a pair of JL 12's at 2 ohms with an LOC with my first system, worked fine. upgraded my headunit to an alpine CDE-103BT. and it made it slightly louder.
-
I skimmed the manual and it's horribly written lol didn't find the HPF thing, but that's not really the main concern. excuse my friend, he's new here. i believe it's the CDE-HD137BT.
I think it has something to do with the RCA's, because we've pretty much eliminated everything else. subwoofer level is turned all the way up on the deck. now the bass is barely audible with his JL 500 watt amp. not nearly as loud as it was before

Sa or e's? lol

I bet you were waiting in line. you didn't show it snaking around the corner haha

removable port wit 3 common walls? lol

Way to bump up a month old thread, guys. great job.
-
You also did the bottom baffle wrong from the looks of it.
-
Holy fucking bracing..... hell even the original design went overboard on bracing.
-
you don't have to do the V shape. that's a picture of yuyang jin's 4th order (fail) wall (i'm pretty sure)
there are a shitton of things wrong here.
first and probably most important, single layer baffle is not going to survive. period.
second, i don't know how well XL's would like a sealed side.
third, you don't need to do the V shape. I can almost guarantee you're just creating more work and headaches for yourself. yuyang jin (irpirate) has a 6th order wall with the subs facing eachother and he's doing high fifties last time he metered, probably doing sixties now. you don't run into cancellation problems unless you have a really deep wall.
fourth, you're going to want some bracing.
personally, i'd double layer the entire box, possibly triple layer the baffle. flush mount and possibly invert the subs.
hmu if you have any more questions.
personally
-
I'm pretty sure i'm going. hopefully i'll get my 6th order built by then.

get the dual 2 ohm option. wire it in parallel to 1 ohm. get the aq 1200. it will do 1200 watts at 1 ohm.
it will be fine for your setup, just get it. it's a fine amp.

I feel like this is pitbullninja all over again.
Just fucking pick something.
