  1. you can't really test to see if 45's hurt the score easily. you can't keep all things equal. you'd have to have two boxes, one of them has to be larger by exact amount of volume that the 45's take up, and even then there are going to be other factors that have to play into it. like dimensions of the box, port area, etc.

i've seen people gain from putting a 45 in their highest pressure point. i agree that putting 45's in every corner is a bit redundant, but in some places, it might not hurt.

  2. gain wasn't touched from previously. sphinx, where would we find those settings?

i really hope the LOC wasn't the problem. It should be a LOT louder than it is. it's to the point where it's barely noticable. you can't even see any excursion. I had the same amp on a pair of JL 12's at 2 ohms with an LOC with my first system, worked fine. upgraded my headunit to an alpine CDE-103BT. and it made it slightly louder.

  3. I skimmed the manual and it's horribly written lol didn't find the HPF thing, but that's not really the main concern. excuse my friend, he's new here. i believe it's the CDE-HD137BT.

I think it has something to do with the RCA's, because we've pretty much eliminated everything else. subwoofer level is turned all the way up on the deck. now the bass is barely audible with his JL 500 watt amp. not nearly as loud as it was before

  4. you don't have to do the V shape. that's a picture of yuyang jin's 4th order (fail) wall (i'm pretty sure)

there are a shitton of things wrong here.

first and probably most important, single layer baffle is not going to survive. period.

second, i don't know how well XL's would like a sealed side.

third, you don't need to do the V shape. I can almost guarantee you're just creating more work and headaches for yourself. yuyang jin (irpirate) has a 6th order wall with the subs facing eachother and he's doing high fifties last time he metered, probably doing sixties now. you don't run into cancellation problems unless you have a really deep wall.

fourth, you're going to want some bracing.

personally, i'd double layer the entire box, possibly triple layer the baffle. flush mount and possibly invert the subs.

hmu if you have any more questions.

    personally
