  1. You didn't learn from your mistake though!! You have no idea how to properly use that equipment, which just sets you up for failure in the future! You have yet to prove that you know enough about how a car stereo works to prevent future equipment failure. On top of that, you haven't even considered getting decent equipment. I'm not sure how you can even say those hifonics square subs are "sticking with what you know" when it sounds like you have zero experience with them.

I don't mean to come off as a douche, but you have some serious learning to do before I would consider any of your systems anything more than a fire hazard.

  2. If you've already blown 5 subs and 2 amps, you need to stop buying and start learning something. Forget everything your "buddies" told you, in fact, forget everything you've been taught so far, because it hasn't gotten you far. Read around here for another month or two and then start putting your system together based on the knowledge you've acquired.

I can almost guarantee what you have planned right now is going to sound like complete garbage.

  3. I used to work at best buy and i got my 12" CVX's at cost pretty much. 105 plus shipping. He's asking too much.

Obsidian 12's would be cheaper brand new @ MSRP. and i would much prefer one of those to a CVX. Mainly due to the fact that you can get recones for the obsidians.

  4. I got the product and did a little review. I can't say my review is very valuable though. I only tested them with some music on my phone and a buddies phone. I still have yet to try them with on my laptop.

I talked with IbleedMusick to see what he thought of his. we both had a pretty similar experience with them, but he actually had an amplifier for his. He told me they came alive when amplified.

    linky

  5. fyi, red isnt clipping in audacity, it just means the wave is either 0db or over. even when you do "show clipping" it really only shows where the wave spikes to over 0db. you can make a clean generated 50hz wave in audacity, and put the amplitude to 1 (amplitude of 1 = 0db in audacity) and it will be solid red.

better yet, generate a saw tooth or square wave with the generator and the show clipping on.

edit: one way to do it is zoom in REALLY close in audacity until you can see the actually wave forms crests and troughs. do this in the heavy bass lines and check to see if everything is rounded or jagged/squarish.

I had no idea.. hmm. i'll keep this in mind

  6. welcome to this hurr forumm

I like your first design port area wise, depending on what kind of power you're using i'd do port area around 13-14 per cube

i'd probably tune to the upper end of their suggestion 32-33 hz

with trucks it's probably better to have sub and port firing up or sub up, port to the side.
