  1. I took both out yesterday for about an hour, and it is truly a bad ass vehicle, the 500hp turbo model has a split spoiler that is awesome the way it works. The interior is very nice, but all the buttons in the center console remind me of the Carerra GT and will take some getting used to. I will try to get it for a night and get some videos, but since we only have 1 of each, it is going to be hard to pry the keys out. Porsche did a great job with this vehicle

here is their home page on it

    http://www.panamera.com/#/panamera/overview

The pictures do not do it justice. I can't wait for the Fisker Karma to show up so I can compare the 2.

  2. the Rane is a great piece there is no denying that, but for the vehicle in my personal and professional opinion it would be more of a PITA than its benefits. It has some powerful DSP's, and the 500ms delay well... you'd need that in a huge open room or arena :) because that is somewhere near 500' in delay... actually over 500'

Yes the Bit One had some issues when it was released, but usually everything does when there are many variables, especially when it comes to the tech.

Also I brought all that up, because the 2 units are equally capable, a ton of features, and mucho quality. however one is made for the vehicle and the other will need a power supply mod and to find someone capable is a pain, also what effects will it have on the electronics of the processor itself?

if you ran it and had everything done to it, I am sure it would be a bad ass piece, and would be awesome in the vehicle... I am picturing a touchscreen embedded in the dash with the software on the front screen for adjustments :)

Ya know, the last time I seen anyone mod a Rane or Alesis EQ was in 97.... so I guess it is long over due... take some pictures!!!!

  3. Neel, I will have to disagree on several observations

first the Rane power supply mod needed

there is more flexibility with the bit1 input wise (digital coax and toslink, 2 aux RCA, 8 high level and 6 lowlevel)

8 independant 31 band eq for each output channel

70 cut off slopes ranging from 6 to 48db and your choice of Butterworth or Linkwitz

    also hi/lo/band/full range x-overs

less expensive and ready to go right out of the box

also it has time alignment for each channel up to 22ms per channel output which is somewhere around the 24' range

not saying the rane is garbage, but I would stack the bit1 up against it, plus ya got to admit the DRC controller of the bitone is by far sexier than the rane remote controls :)

I threw the bit one presentation on the website under products the other day. i can email you the "white papers" also if you need to. I will eventually get it up on the internet, but I have a few things to do and after today i will be gone for a week.

  4. People don't come to a Best Buy to hear about Fi and DC.

Either they come to buy some crappy mainstream gear, or they came to be a smartarse little tyre kicker. If they really wanted Kicker, they would go to a shop that sold Kicker.

They go to Best Buy for several reasons

    convenience

    advertisements

    pricing

    reputation

BBY has their own rewards program and credit card

    brands

    extended warranty

    great insurance

all which the little guy or specialty shops don't have or don't do for financial reasons

not saying that BBY is wrong to go to, but people do not know about what is available to them in their area or what products for their vehicle

I can go into BBY and pick up a system and compete with it... 90% of a great system is installation. So i wouldn't say they have crap for gear, because if something like that happened it would look pretty embarrassing when the trophies were being handed out

As for the Kicker comment, there is no way that any shop advertises more than BBY, or has it on display like BBY, which generates more interest for those that are interested, and might view the Kicker website who lists the dealers in the area... they might just get lucky

From a business and manufacturer view, it is a win win situation for everyone, including the shops in the surrounding area.

  5. Yay! Internet fight! :aggressive: :01nocomment8so:

ok "North Olmsted Performance" lets see your build log?

    ya... are you serious?

why don't you leave "blue thunder" alone. i know him very well and he loves audio could talk about it all day.

he knows coaxials and components he sets customers with the best equipment for their budget.

just because he works at Best Buy ' mean he doesn't know what he's doing he gaining experience so he can move to bigger better things. everyone has to start somewhere.

nobody is picking on him... are you for real? my god you are sensitive

I've let him work on many of my cars and they all come out great way above the usual stereo shops install.

good for you... and him also. the more experience the better

So did anyone ever help the question in the original post?

    a while back

  6. wow a little harsh? o well i wasnt trying to provoke any thing but i guess sometimes stuff gets blown out of proportion.

I don't think it was harsh, just straight up and not sugar coated. Today everything has to be a kinder gentler BS tree hugging don't hurt my feeling type of response... which shouldn't be like that... ya know men used to be men... and my responses are not meant to sound like i am going to kick your arse or anything of the sort. they are posted as MY perspective with constructive comments.

  7. some things are offensive, and I am straight up and am not going to beat around the bush... which is why I said in my post that the specialty stores are also screw ups.

as for RE, adire, RE and all the other woofers, do not even bring them up while you are at work, you are being paid, possibly underpaid, to sell what you have. And if I was to over hear that has a manager, you'd be at strike 1, which means you being overpaid.

I don't like some of kickers products, they aren't the best as I do not believe there is 1 single manufacturer that can actually say they are the best. it all comes down to application first... then applying it to the installation.

Lets just say that kicker is guaranteed to be around a lot longer than the others that were mentioned. it is like attrition, they can afford to lose a lot more money than the others.

I would suggest learning your products and capabilities, also how and why they work... IE woofer, tweeter, crossover, components vs coaxial, and even some of the basic specs that really matter as what size enclosure...etc

as for the install tech... every one is innocent in jail :)

  8. Keeping it real....

As an Audison dealer, and has hands on experience with the the bitone and the 360.2 the 360.2 is no slouch! Neel, you can use the optical in on the bit1 when doing CD's but will need to switch it over to analog for radio, HD, Sirius, iPod, aux in (via an AINET adapter) USB, changer unless using an optical one but then you are limited by the 1 digital input and would be better off with the 701 or 510. Also anything on the DVD transport is converted optically and I do not believe the Alpine will give the 24 resolution that the bit1 is capable to begin with.

where it exceeds over the 360.2 only, is the ability of the bit1 to do a 4 way system actively where the RF and alpine is 3

  9. man all the best buy haters kind of makes me feel bad for working in the audio department. i am trying to give best buy a better name with the knowledge i have gained from this great site but i am only one man. you Know what i mean

I see some of the stuff posted here and if you are listening to them.... BBY is screwed.

I am not bashing you on a personal level, but I will be straight up.

BBY sells band aids plain and simple. You guys have to worry about every type of vehicle, where I specialize in a few makes. You have to deal with the price conscious consumers looking for the cheapest thing to get them buy, where I usually quote a system that cost as much as a New KIA, and it brings up another point, I have clients that I build a relationship with, you guys have "buyers" in and out and never see them again or follow up unless they have a problem.

your techs are "installers" not once are they ever referred to as techs, thankfully because some are just dumb.

I have seen some half assed installs from BBY but i have seen many more from the so called specialists... by no means are BBY any better or worse than the "specialists"

as a salesman, you have to look at what the future goals are for you, is it a career? Hell no, as you will be lucky to reach middle class financial standards doing it. but lets say you are going to be a manager one day. as a salesman you have to be the authority when they come to you. find their needs and wants, budget and give them a good, better, best solution. if you do not know, let them know you will research it and get back to them, do not BS them. and do it, get back to them!

Be professional and dress as you are being inspected everyday by them, as you are. I go in there to get something I see these slobs and think to myself WTF are they thinking... but i know what they are thinking, it is temporary... but wouldn't you want to excel even temp working to a career?

be the authority, know as much as you can about basic acoustics, integration equipment, the basics of audio and vehicle buses (IE MOST, CAN, Class2, GMLAN...etc) know your products, know which ones are easier to operate and make sense to you perspective "buyers" sell quality first!

and the warranties... they need to be approached a bit differently. let them know that the manufacturer only offers a 1 year warranty but you can extend it to 3 years. I do think the warranty you guys offer is very good for consumer protection and is like insurance for the customer, but I think everyone approaches it poorly. It is there for them, yes it costs money and BBY makes a boat load, but it is there for their protection.

Sorry to go on and on... and get off the subject...
