  1. i dont wanna cut any corners especially when it comes to my electrical. thats why im asking so many ques... :give_rose:

but i will have to check out my local hardware store and find something that will work. i had in mind to buy a piece of sheet metal big enough to support the bottom of the second batt and then solder it to the exsisting tray. then get some sort of brackets to hold down the two batteries together to the frame...

    Weld...

by the time you do all that and the time invested, why not just buy the tray that would look more professional? not saying that you wouldn't do the same or better, but by the time you do all the monkeying around, you could of moved on to bigger and better things.

as for the accy's tell them you only want the tray

  2. Someone forgot to tell my soldering iron it was bad!

I have had the same iron for 4 years (Matco portable butane) and still on the same tip. It gets used almost every day also since I have yet to use crimp connectors in many many years...

I wouldn't recommend sandpaper, unless you have the steel/brass tip. I use a wire brush when I bring it up to temp, and it still looks/acts brand new.

Anyways for the OP, you can buy a cheap soldering iron from radio shack or walmart for $10, if you want to put a hole in the material without tearing it, this is a good way of doing it

  3. It all comes down to application and design... Sure you are not going to set any SPL world records in a convertible, but at the same time you can get a convertible to hammer just as good as the vehicles with a trunk. Mariner is an SUV, it should be louder with little effort, it is physics.

Machowhitetiger, build a down firing enclosure loaded off the floor/or make your own loading, making sure you take into considerations the specs of the woofer

  4. Sell it and buy something else -it won't sound really loud on a limited budget in a convertible.

I had a 2002 mustang convertilbe with two T1 12's and a T10001 and it wasn't very loud with the top up or down- nothing beats a good soild roof when you want lot's of bass.

I believe that would be the fault of the installation, I have done a pair of JL Audio 8w3's in a convertible and it pounded, top up or down, actually to think about it I did a lot of convertibles and many of them were crazy loud...

  5. they are good sites for the price conscious buyer, but remember that MOST of the brands there are not factory authorized, so your gear will go back to them for service, then the manufacturer... most the time they remove the serial numbers and crap like that... not too many people had warranty issues from the years of people buying on all the sites listed, just a handful from what I remember... remember it can get to be more expensive when you start blowing stuff up, you know how it goes a friend of a friend did his sisters girlfriends brothers vehicle so he has automatically become the authority of car audio... and shipping a 40lb sub back and forth is pretty expensive, but on a side note, you can take your chances with the local shop, 99% of them are hacks anyways with no standards or low standards... so chose your poison :)

  6. I would say I have became an authority on radar detectors in the past 3 years...

the V1 is a joke and is marketing hype. Way too sensitive and is an ultra false alarm unit

The K40 is a POS UNLESS you get the new hardwired calibre

The escort 9500ix is very nice but is a ticket confirmer' like the V1

The escost 9500ci is very cool but has no real rear warning when mounting up front in the grill

the V1, Bell, 9500ix are all ticket confirmation for you, and is only good for lazy cops, cops that are good with the radar guns will sit on the hold button and then you are screwed, it only emits for a second and that is it... WTF are you going to do since he already has you? look at the radar detector and ask why?

on a good note, most are going to Laser, which is a whole different ball game, I have tested 3 and the only one I like is the K40 laser defuser. the Escort is good, but the K40 is better, the laserpro or whatever it is called only worked 1/2 the time during testing

Bell is made by its sister company Escort

I tested many, so far the best method I use, is not use a radar detector when speeding

Now for the original poster that posted and wants to use it as a cop finder... not all cops have radar units, nor do they travel with them on all the time if they do have them. If you are jamming what makes you think you will here the radar detector anyways? or even see it when you are checking everyone else out, flipping through songs playing your system saying "look at me I am an attention whore"

How about roll the window up, turn the system on and play as loud as you want (you do have air conditioning and heat right?)

    problem solved

  7. Last week at the National convention in Orlando, Fl the local cop here took it and entered it to be judged, took home 1st place and Best of Show, making it the top DARE vehicle in the nation.

many hours and donations got it there... and long nights.

It was pretty much in service for 1.5 years already we just added some stuff, it had a little bit of wear and tear from being used everyday (includes Xmas) but since everything was designed modular and used steel frame it is still going strong.

Also not one hole was drilled into the vehicle or any panels cut up, it can be returned to factory within a few hours of minimal work, one of our strict policies.. "no holes, no cutting up the vehicle"

there is some build pics here :

nothing insane, just simple and hold up to everyday use

JL Audio and Vizualogic helped out huge

  8. I know there is a guy in VA saying he is a dealer and importing it from Italy. Told one of my clients that story, I had to laugh. They definitely need a dealer locator for the USA. Definitely some very nice gear, I love the Mille speakers the best though! I have a 10" Mille sitting on my desk, it is a monster

  9. It is a bummer for sure, I had a problem in school with test taking when I was younger. It was always because i would never read the question fully, or as it is called today RTFQ. Is there an option to have it administered orally? I had an option to take an oral test before, the only problem was that I dropped a few F bombs during.

I will give you this advice though, do not stop studying, keep it all fresh in your head till the next test. How much is the test anyway? Take up a collection here, and when you make it big pay everyone back with interest. :)

  10. my bro has a 5.7 handgun pretty cool but it jams we think from the bullets are so pointy i dunno.

damn, if he has the FN FiveSeven, that is the biggest piece of crap in the world. the thing doesn't eject a round, almost loaded another round into a chambered round, and WILL fire with the breech not closed all the way. I had a post somewhere on a forum describing the list of things the turd did. And the magazine safety is just stupid.

And I love when your out at the range and someone says they are shooting armor rounds because of the blue tips...

After the 57 I would never buy anything from FN.
