I just had the same problem Friday! Had a sound just like that in my sub. Took my sub out and took a look at and didn't see a problem, but I was thinking to my self man this sub has a lot of dust on it, so I blew through the cooling holes and a chip of MDF came out! After that I hooked it back up and it was fine. Don't know if that's your problem but u could try that

i just did my rims to, but they are just some old 16s on my explorer but i like it. wish i had 26s lol

-
lol idk like i said its not my stuff its a friends that thinks his prefab box is the best box u can get ... and i was j/w what its tuning was... but it seem he cant use a measure tape lol

14'' h 17''d 32'' w --- port is 11 3/4'' h 3 1/2'' w but has a 1/2'' board in the midd of the port to split the sub up so like 1 1/2'' w on the port for each sub.... this is what he said.Measure the external dimensions as well as the port dimensions and then post those and people can tell you the real specs, having said that you don't want to use those prefab enclosures in most cases. Subs work best in enclosures designed specifically for them and solidly built.
14 x 32x 17 gives a gross internal volume of 3.42 less if there is a double baffle and to that you have to take away sub and port displacement, so NO 4 cubes net possible.
And you are not giving the centerline length of the port or the port parts length so can't calc tuning.
what he sent me today lol -

j/w about this, my friend has a xscorpion slotport box for 2 12s and is telling me that the shop were he got it told him that its 4 cb.ft. and tuned to 38hz and that all the subs that the shop has put in to box made a 3db increase lol im sure this is not true. but wanted to know if someone has info on this box....

this is box has 2 chambers, i cut the other side off now..lil vid of the sub @ 2ohm(1300rms) on my ppi amp .
There's a big chunk of your problem, cover the hole for the second sub with some wood making sure it becomes air tight ( or get a second sub ).
Still a proper ported enclosure would be much louder

lil vid of the sub @ 2ohm(1300rms) on my ppi amp .
-
well i have only had it a day and not had time to try and get it loud yet but i would think in a port box on my power it should hit good. im going to post a vid of it playin sometime todayI had the newer model. Was my first sub. I couldn't get it loud, so I kept turning up my gain.
I gave a lot of dirty power and one day it blew like a 10amp fuse...up in smoke. They are nicely built and designed though.
-
i know its not going to be crazy hard hitin... but a 1000rms sub should be hitin hard on my amp that is puting out 1300 rms to it!A single 12" in an Explorer is not going to break windows anyway, since you already have it I would try it in a 1.5 cubes net @35Hz sub up /port back box, subsonic filter at 29Hz and it will get better.
-
lol i just wanted to know what amp u run lol .. ...Yeah they play with power, but the amp would have nothing to do with the subs ohm readings.
-
do they play ok with power? what u runing for a amp? 6.8 ohm is way offChecked using that site and I have it wired "right" never had any issues with this ddm, check my other subs with it and it's spot on
