well I set all my JL amps up with a DMM my JL 1000/1 doesn't clip until 44.7v and my JL 500/1 clips at 31.6v both at 2 ohm.. but Im not sure where my Polk Audio PA 500.4 amp clips at.. I got an Alpine cda 105 head unit and not sure how to check clipping on that either.. I do have a test tone CD from JL as all the stuff in my truck is JL except for polk amp and Mb quart RSI 216 components.. also when im checking for clipping on my JL amps should I have the head unit Alpine cda 105 Sub Woofer level at 0 or + 15 because when its at 0 my JL 1000/1 the gain will go all the way up without clipping ..I know the rest of stuff bass treble set at 0 loudness off etc please help Im lost Do you use a oscope to set the gains? Or a dmm? Alpine Hu's don't like to be turned up too much, they will clip easily. Subwoofer level has to be at +15 I use DMM to set gains on my JL amps I dont have a oscope too damn expensive to use once

how do I find out where my Head Unit clips at? can I do it with DMM dont have Oscope

so im a dumb ass just checked my amp out and it was set at 200hz for some reason is this probably my problem

No amp never cuts out and plays the rear pioneer 6x8s fine and only tweets go out on the components, amp is brand new only at half gain.. Ive heard dont know if its correct but if your component speakers come with cross overs to set amp on Flat instead of High Pass is this true

So I have some MB quart RSI216 components and they have the cross overs with them.. where should I set my amp at on HPF or Flat somebody please let me know Ive been having problems with them just cutting out

I actually thought about the HD600/4 but Ive got so much money wrapped up in this already and work gets a little slow in the summer so I kind of need to slow down still need alternator or do you think I can get by with adding my stinger battery in the back? Im hoping to be done with this install in 2 weeks

Thanks for reply I might as well go with JL ..everything else in my truck is JL Audio a JL 1000/1 on 13w6v2 a JL500/1 on 2 JL10w3v3 and a JL 300/4 thats blown but going to send off to get fixed thats why I was asking about the Polk Audio Im sure Im going to be drowning the highs and mids out so want a clean higher power amp or should i just get 2 jl 300/4 Damn figured Id get more responses do people have bad things to say about Polk Audio or what

First off new to the forum but this site is awesome.. So on with my question Im a big fan of JL but was wanting to know if anybody had some good reviews on Polk Audio amp PA500.4 or should I go ahead and get the JL 300/4 need a good highs and mids amp
