  1. I think my sub wires were too close.... I didnt realize they were within a few inches of my rca input on the amp. I posted this without trouble shooting first... But it was just weird b/c the noise just came randomly......

But I didnt ride to see if the noise came back soo i'm not 100% yet if it is/was the sub wires or not.

But I'm 100% it isnt the ground on my amp.

  2. That's not near enough port area for a 15 cuft box..... Give me your dimensions on the box and I'll give you some suggestions....

Edit: if you are at 15 cubes then you would need something like 12 4" ports to be in the right port area range....lol that would be super innefficient imo. Maybe more like 5 6"?

    Or 3 8"

  3. Do you have a circle jig?

Just fyi routers are dangerous as hell and without a jig goodluck trying to cut circles.

What are you going to use it for?

box building n flush mount rings mostly

They're a great tool to have, and a breeze for doing round overs and if you have a good circle jig you will never go to jigsaws again for cutting circles. Lol. Good luck man.

  4. Louisville.

Kind of sucks meca has no comps planned this year for ky.

Tenn has been getting strict about noise too, i used to go to slammin n jammin in Lebanon but they shut it down and moved it this year.. bs ain't it

Yeah it's bs. I'm going to see if I can possibly find some comps going on in southern indiana or possibly cincinnatti area.... That's crazy I would have to drive soo far just to go to a comp now, and that's if I can find some..

  5. ive had my study guide for quite some time now. to me it always seemed like tedious reading. ive been an installer at shops for 3 years. mostly just little stuff, never really anything custom though. the best training for the mecp test is just by doing this. like ray said the mecp study guide is a great start though. best of luck to you man :drinks:

Thanks man, yeah the book is 488 pages I think... That is quite a bit of reading, but I really dont mind reading if it's something I'm actually interested in.. I'm going to go to all the best buys in my area and may stop through a couple shops just to see basically what it would take to become an installer at their shop... ( I know experience is King, but everyone has to start somewhere)
