but taking a turbo off a volvo could be compatible with another car?

my buddy is thinking about going to a local pick a part and taking a turbo off a volvo S40 cause its like 50$ or something. We were both wondering would a turbo in a Volvo work with any other car. If so what would be needed to not blow the shit out of his car? as you can tell neither of us are the mechanic type. Just wanted some insight before he runs down and ends up in the pit 50$ with yet another thing laying around his garage.

so i bought my jetta today and the first thing i did was get to puttin bass in! I have a temporary system in right now till i can pay for my 15 and supplys for it. So Right now this is what i got 2 10" kicker comps Hifonics BX1205D turned WAY down so i dont blow these sub all i got for now Pioneer DEH-1300MP came with the car front and hear mids and highs are kenwood. i need to replace the rearr this week Tomorrow im startin the work on it tomorrow. after i go to the DMV gonna smoke the tail lights and the head lights maybe take it to get tinted and situate the wiring for my amp This will be a slow progessive build little by little ill be upgrading with what extra money i have after insurance and gas everymonth next thing will be all the mids and highs under the seat i found this a kicker kx120.2? i think idk the guy painted over it and now its blue but it ended up being shorted out when he painted it but all the wires were ran for me already so i didnt have to deal with that till i upgrade for the 15
