need measurements to help you and for you to help yourself!!
-
id be interested. pm please!
-
personally i would go ported but it is all about the sound you are going for. What does autobahn reccommend? sealed or ported?
-
i remember my first AQ amp
-
Digital Designs is bringing back their 6x9s at beginning of year

Why not use less than 18? I was thinking about using some of my 12awg speaker wire as i said above, just not sure what side to use.
by less than 18 i mean 20, 22 awg, etc. 18 is smallest i would go. goin gbigger wont ever hurt. and use what ever side you want. positive or negative will both work the same. it is just wire transporting current
-
On KNU rca the remote wire is sometimes sandwiched in between them. double check to make sure. but otherwise any old wire will work. dont use less than 18 gauge though!!!
-
ported man!!! sealed loud at higher hz maybe? if you want to own lows with those 15s hit up a ported box
-
sorry to post dump, but i think i just fell in love with your avatar...
thanks
how bout he just build both and see what happens! JK but start with one and if you dont like biuild other one

You have 2 different issues that you should not confuse:
1) what enclosure is better for a particular sub.
2) what type of enclosure is better for a particular cabin
For question 1 you calculate the following as a general rule:
EBP = Fs/Qes
<50 sealed.
>100 Ported.
between 50 and 100 you could use in either.
For question 2 sealed will usually give you better transient response and lower group delay plus this:
Since sealed has a roll-off of 12dB/octave and cabin gain raises at 12db/Octave starting at 50-90Hz you can get to cancel each other giving you a perfectly flat low frequency response. So properly used sealed is best for SQ. If your cabin is huge you can't get that and then ported is the better way to get bass.
What he said ^^
Most of the time SQ= sealed. SPL=ported. But if your good with ported boxes and you have room just make a huge box and tune very very low and you will have plenty of SQ.

2 HDC3 12s and call it a day! wire to .5 ohm if you have electrical to support! you willl be happy!! From first hand experience, 1 HDC3 12 @ 1 0hm in proper box is nice. 2 is beautiful. If you have room send in for recone and do 2 HDC3 15s and be louderrr

What kind of subs are they? and SUbs up port back.
-
I listen to mainly rap ( a lot of low rap) and plenty of rock hop house club whatever vocals orchestra everything. Im tuned at 37hz and I am extremely happy!!

What type of Subs are they?

if you would save for a quality amp the first time and have proper electrical and wiring then you wouldnt be wasting more money buying crappy amps that are gunna die on you. go DD AQ DC Sundown. SOmething worth your time and money. Then never worry again, well lets hope
-
Im looking to buy 2 12 FI BTLs, DC lvl 4+, Sundown Zv2s, XCON, anything with 1500w rms!
i have a DD 2512 that will take a clean 1500rms all day
-
I agree to the terms.
1995 Mercedes C220
nice build on that corolla cardboard!!
-
I´m using a DD m1b (same amplifier) and already had 0 gauge coming from the batteries, just trim it a little bit and you are set to go, no need for reducers IMO
i agree with you to an extent. the M1b/ m1c(current model) is very similiar to the AQ1200d. but the engineering and quality of parts is a little better with dd. allowing it to run same rated output at 12 volts instead of 14.4. Im sure you can see that when you tested ur M1b and it gave you 2200rms or 2300rms.. ahah The AQ 1200d doesnt do that but prolly 1500+?
-
dude reducers or not you can make 0 gauge fit. In my opinion, if your running .5ohm on that amp it would love the current getting to it. as fecupe tested already, DD M1b ran 2200 wats rms at .5 ohm. you should love it! I used to have it. Only reason I sold it was for the DD M1c
-
if you play mainly rap i would tune lower such as 32hz. those low lows (aka 30hz and down) will rip those kicker intro series apart. they dont take much to bottom out. you want your box to protect as much as possible.
-
try 13.5 height 39 width 14.5 depth.
port dimensions of 12x3 by 32 deep.
gives you a 32hz tuning 2.47 net space. 14.57 area per cube. 36in of port area.
it should make those tens even sound big on small power (300-400 rms between the 2 of them.

JL XD400/4. Excellent sounding 4 ch amp. very loud yet doesn't miss a beat. Clean as ever. JL definetly has a good product here. the problem is finding it at a reasonable price. I got mine off of pacificstereo.com which is an authorized dealer for 269. not bad considering its 399 everywhere else. I would definetly reccommend. Or the DDSS series makes a decently small but powerfull 4ch amp. Just depends on power and money to spend
-
I have an AQ 2200d if you would like. I could get you out under 400 easily shipped
Hey guys i just got this for Christmas...

your amp is 500rms at 14.4 volts btw and i had it and it sounds excelent. JL is more known for sound quality though but you can deff make it loud wiht some cone area. with a single 12 Youll prolly be happy. Stick with JL like tsuch said but if you dont care go for DC lvl 2 or even a DD 1500series would be a good match. D4 coils on which ever sub you choose
