  1. Thanks for the input man, I appreciate it. Yea the size looks pretty crazy. Somthing like 14" deep? Also a 11.5 cutout hole which is pretty massive!

I have read also it is fail compared to older RE lines when the XXX was XBL2 series before the company sold out.

I heard one of the best boxes is just under 3 cubes sealed for sound quality, also alot of people go bigger then recomended for ported to get great performance.

All just things i heard here/there tho, anyone else want to chime in with some personal experiance with this thing?

this is the only xxx ive had to make a box for or hear.because nobody can afford them lol..

re audio website says sealed or ported..i couldnt see putting a woofer like that with THAT MUCH xmax in a sealed box..

so we went ported and it fucking KILLS the low lows ( 25hz and below) ..

i went .2 of a cube over "optimal ported spec" and it does just fine..

i think if you went too big it would unload wayy to easily and destroy itsself ( ive seen some dude say they like 5 cubes for a 12) crazy

  2. honeslty i have experience with them..shit just 2 weeks ago i made a box for a customer for a 12" re xxx..

by FAR the hardest sub ive ever had to cut a hole for..

its a PURE sq sub.. doesnt get very "loud" but verry detailed ( something like 50mm xmax)..

and they use "split coil technology" 90% of guys out there consider it a fail compared to the 05 xxx.

i made the box 2.4 cubes after the huuuge displacement of the woofer port etc.. and tuned it to 30hz

hes got a soundstream dtr3400 @ 4ohms..and becasue the suspension is so soft even at 4 ohms it throws it around reeal good.. and id say a solid 139 140db in his trunk

  3. cut from the middle get a new connecting ring

you should not of glassed them

wow that was hard to read..i agree on the shouldnt have fiberglassed them i ALWAYS tape them together with ducttape runi t for a few days and see how i like the tune..and if needed i add or take more off, and then i glue them together

  4. whats the issue?? leave the flares duh

and cut the middle section you need to remove about 3" of each to get a rough 30 32hz tune (just going from general knowledge) i might be a inch or so of..

cut the section out and reglass ( i pvc glue my aeros together) and also removeing port length will make internal volume bigger

  5. Im not gonna lie & say I dont get mechanical problems on it, but when it does work its a beast haha. dynos just over 400hp to all 4 wheels on pump gas, pretty fun while it lasts. It always seems to have a catostrophic failure tho... almost safe to say at least once a year depending how hard/often im driving it LOL. So I know where you are coming from in a way, I drive it pretty damn hard tho because that is the whole point. Not really a fan of the gst either, to much wheel spin if your gonna try & make them fast unless you roll the streets on slicks lol.

Im gonna roll the engine in my crx untill it fails, then will probably just go with somthing simple like a b18c1 swap or somthing similar, keep it near stock maybe cold air intake, header & exhaust. A little more juice under the hood would be cool but im not gonna do it untill the little engine in there is toast. The d15 in my crx is so gutless tho haha, but cant beat the fuel economy. I went for a 1,150km ride the other day to pick up a sa-10 & 2 15" fi btl n2s...pumped 80 bucks regular gas & had a little left when I got home haha.

yea every gen of the eclipse is junk.. espically when dsm owned them.. horrable rap on the motors n electical issues.. sick looking car tho (mine had rims paint bodykit etc etc) but it rarely moved from the yard lol..why... bc it was shitty ( sometimes start sometimes not)..

but good luck in wanting that d15 to kill over.. ive personally seen my buddy drain the oil out of his honda (d15b7 motor) and drove it for 9 days before it locked up..

and my 2nd crx .. radiator blew on waty home from work..said fuck it and kept going.(had 9 miles to go). got hot as hell.. Never locked up and never blew a head gasket..

the D series blocks are proven to be bullet proof basically....

anyways all 3 of my crxs had high amp alternators too.. ebay company called "HI AMPS".. 160 amp alt for basically 130ish bucks..and always did me right..so if you looking for a cheap alty look them up.. always did a great job for me

  6. cool man, 148 @ 36hz legal sealed on the dash is respectable no doubt. My crx gots the economy engine and gets wicked gas milage lol. I drive it daily.

My go fast car is my 1990 mitsubishi eclipse awd turbo, fucking fun to drive but it sure hurts the pockets to attempt to drive daily LOL.

you mean the fact that ur mitsu has a shitty dsm motor (diamond star motorsports) or damn shitty motor..by far the MOST unreliable junk car ive ever owned..( and yes i owned a 95 gst..juunnnkk..

the bass crx was a HF.. so it had the basic d15 with talll gears ( with system it got 35mpg)..

the others even with having 250 plus hp..they both still got verry high 20mpg

  7. Sick bro, what kind of numbers? Can I get more info on the setup? That is my goal in the crx. I want 150db from 28-34hz. Alot harder then getting a 150 tuned high in there haha.

So far my record in there and only other setup I installed was a 15" rd audio alpha on a shitty planet audio bb2400.1 @ 1 ohm.

Was doing 145 @ 34hz in a box tuned to 28hz. Sub & ports facing the back. I just got the car last winter, always wanted a crx haha. Should be alot of fun times in there hehe

ive actually owned 3 crxs 2 of them were built to go faast tho..

dont recall box specs really but i was doing 148s legal at 36hz

  8. Yeah I do love my ap but a lot of people on here seem to hate it. I think its a better idea to stay with it too, gives me a better option at 1ohm when I upgrade. Thanks guys.

yea people do hate on them.. i think its because they are cheap and people think they dont put out rated power ( and they do..and CLEAN power too)..lots of videos to prove it.. or they had a "friend" that had one and it blew..prolly bc he was using extension cords for pwr n grnd and 20g speaker wire

  9. trunk cars suck.. i went from a 94 civic hatch that was doing 147s n up on minimal power..

then i went to my beretta and with basically the same equipment im 3db down from the hatch.. and i even did forward firing "trunkwall"

i cannot wait to get my hands on another hatchback of some kind

sounds like im not going to be a loud muthaf*ka anymore.

so no more turning everybodys head and making ppl dance on the street??

trunk cars are just a whole nother world.. im thinking about ditching the single 15 and go back to my original 2 12s (ssa icons).. but with a single 15 on my mcd2500 i can do a wimpy 143db legal at 34hz.. thats not too bad for what im working with i guess..
