  1. So my plans for my truck changed and im just gonna go ahead and do a blowthrough. Its going in a 2004 dodge ram 1500 i wanna use maybe half the bed, i can get dimensions shortly as soon as i get home. Im looking to run 4 12 in subs but not sure how to achieve that as ive only messed with sealed boxes before. Im good with woodworking though so building it shouldnt be a problem im just not to sure on what design to use. I talked to Ram_Design about getting a box designed and will probably use hime but should i be looking at ported, vented, 4th order or what?
  2. Some people don't have those or else this thread wouldn't be here... No i have them or I wouldn't be in college, i just wasn't sure on how the whole fiberglass box and the box not having perfect straight edges affected the air space. But thanks for the help guys ill be getting this started shortly.
  3. Thats probably what ill do the, the packing peanuts thing sounds like an easy way. If nothing else when i build it i can always just section off o a portion if its to big. I wanna get started on it tomorrow the truck is completely ripped apart down to the metal. Only got to put my second skin sound deadener on the back wall today so tomorrow gonna finish up that and hopefully get started on this.
  4. Yeah i was planning on having all edges rounded so its not so boxy and flows better with the outside lines of the truck. Im sure that math would work and doesnt seem to hard to find out. Would i notice any problems with the subs firing at each other like that? This would be my first big fiberglass build but if it goes as planned its gonna be pretty sweet.
  5. I was able to get the quick sketch up we got....it was just a rough idea but here it is.
  6. Yeah i was trying to figure out before, i know how to get air space on a perfectly square box. This one is a little different though as i want it to run to the middle of the truck then slope down with a 45 degree angle to a straight piece of wood and then slope back up with another 45 degree slope for the "rear" console. So best way to describe the slope is like this \_/ and before and after that it would just be flat...the slope is where the subs would go facing eachother....good idea? Its a bit confusing to describe over a forum but me and a buddy sketched it up on his computer but i dont have the sketch up. Dimesions i have to work with are 60"x15"x13.5.
  7. Im building a center console box in a 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Its gonna extend from the front seat to the back wall. Im replacing the back 60/40 bench with 2 captain style chairs so the box will basically be a arm rest style for the front and rear passangers. I have the dimensions and the design i wanna go with but the box is gonna be fiberglassed and not a perfect square so how do i measure air space on a box like that?
  8. I posted at the same time as you haha. But have you ran them? Today was the first time I have ever even seen them. Are any of the Arc subs worth running? Most likely will go with the Sundowns as i love their amp i have just wanted some answers on the Arc's.
  9. Yeah i understand im not really looking to compare as i know Sundown is a a very liked brand as well as Arc. I have read everything on Sundown and i searched Arc but i really cant find anything on the "black" line of their subs. So really just wanna know if the Arc is worth buying or if anyone here has even ran this line of subs?
  10. Looking into 2 Twelve inch subs for my new setup. I was first gonna run 2 sundown sa-12's since im running a saz-2500. Recently i found a place though that carries Arc and i can get the Arc Audio "Black 12" for a good price. Although its more then the Sundown is it worth paying the little extra? Never ran any Arc products so not to sure on them so any opinions or suggestions?
  11. Well got to use the memor20 code so the ride will definitely be deadened right. Thanks again for the memorial day coupon!
  12. My bad i was in a hurry before i left and thought i edited to add the picture but it never went through....so im a dumbass haha. But the picture is there now it was my first time to open my amp ever and i saw all that glue and was just wondering if hat was normal for amps.
  13. Just opened up my sundown amp and took a few pictures and just wanted to know if this was normal?
  14. Oh okay i was still thinking i would have to do 0 gauge all the way from the front batt for some reason, dont know what i was thinking. Gonna place an order for the 0 gauge kit and get the battery why there having there sale and probably gonna get in on that second skin discount for memorial weekend. And yeah i had to learn the hard way to beef up the electrical, never had a crazy system but the first time i hooked up my saz 2500 i was getting voltage drop pretty bad so ive been without a system for awhile trying to save money. I figure if i beef up my electrical with all that to start with ill have a good foundation to build off of when i wanna go bigger next, Plus i found the electrical is one of the more expensive aspects so why i have the cash i wanna get that done first.
  15. Yeah that actually sounds like a good plan, i was just told not to mix batteries so on another forum so i wasnt positive if it was okay to run the xs and my other battery which im pretty sure is a lead battery together....any idea on that? And im guessing just order the 0 gauge amp kit and a 4 gauge kit correct? instead of the dual 0 gauge?
  16. Yeah i plan on it in the future for now i was just gonna run the batt under the hood and the alt as im only gonna be running about 1500 watts. Later on i plan on adding more subs and some more amps at which time i thought i would add some in the back. For now i just kinda want to get the basic stuff like the battery and alt and a simple amp kit that way later on i can i only have to add in more runs of 0 gauge. So basically just going over the top right now on my electrical so i can upgrade later on without changing all that.
  17. Hey guys just wondering if i should order the 0 gauge knu concept and go ahead and order the dual amp kit instead of the single. The i could just run one run to my mono block and the other to my 4 cannel or would that wire be to much for that 4 channel? Trying to get everything ordered up. SAbout to spend quite a bit on sound deadener, have a xs d6500 coming and gonna get that alt coming and get all that setup before i get into my subs. Sorry for the simple questions just wanna get this setup right to begin with so i can always upgrade without having to re-wire stuff.
  18. Alright, i was just trying to figure out how to get both the amps powered. So just make 2 seperate runs of power wire to the front correct? And yeah the amp and battery just making myself safe haha wanna get the most out of my system and not cheap out on the electrical.
  19. Sorry i guess i should have posted that. Sub amp is a sundown saz-2500 4 channel will most likely be a sundown 100.4 will probably order in the next few days. Batter is the xs 6500 as it is what i can fit under the hood (plan on adding another in the back later on). Alternator is the DC H/O 270 amp alternator. Still havent decided on subs yet as they have been the toughest to pick out so far so im waiting on some more pay checks and will probably get them last.
  20. I will be upgrading my battery to an xs along with a dc h/o alt. Its all going in a dodge ram and need to order my wiring was looking at knu and was just gonna go with there 1/0 amp wiring kit. Would that be good? Was gonna do a run of 0 gauge from batt. to a distro. block then run 4 gauge to each amp would that work?
