  1. i'd hate to ee what the end result looks like, honestly for 300 bucks i would expect the cutthough to be a halfassjob considering all the work to do a quality job with it Actually, I have a question for Ray (?) or anyone else that has built "walk throughs" before. Are they obscenely loud outside the cab? I mean, are the subs just poundin away back there in the bed for the whole block to hear, even when you don't want them to? If you have a ported box with ports going through into cab, or the box edge goes threw into cab, is the part of the box thats left in the bed gonna be rediculous? Like as loud as just a sealed box bangin away back there?
  2. So I did some measureing, and it looks like I have about 8 inches in height, but I guess I could allways space the seat bracket up an inch if need be. Also looks like about 12 inches deep, and I;m pretty sure I can go all the was across seat, but will have to remove a small bracket under middle of seat, and the box will have to arch (?) up over the middle floor hump. I have some old, ok don't laugh, crunch fatboy 10"drive series subs layin around and they are 6 1/2 inches total, from floor to top edge of woofer. Maybe I can fit a 10 on each side, facing down, with the sub about 1 inch off floor? or is that not enough distance. I'll try to get measuremeant of total box area tommarrow. Also, thanks for all the help so far!
  3. yah know what. I was just thinkin that. I am not tryin to be "that guy", explainin everything, and shootin down ideas, without at least showin pics. Iy'll take some today, and post up tonight.
  4. yeah, but that box listed says its for 99 and up silverado, I have 97. I still want to use back seat though. The local stereo shop suggested I get 2 12's in a bandpass box in the bed with just the ports going into the cab. But than some guys in another thread said that its not worth cuttin up truck for just 2 12's. thanks for the help though.
  5. yeah, that looks cool an all, but thats for an extended cab, not a 4 door, crew cab. I guess my question could be the same question as "how do i get good bass in a regular cab pickup?" thanks for the input though!
  6. Hi, yes, I'm very new to the stereo world, but I'm no dummy. I cam over here from layitlow.com,my screen name is westsidehydros. If this question is in wrong thread, could it please be moved to the correct one. thanks. Basically, my questions are these: I have a 97 silverado crew cab dually and it has a stock virgin stereo in it. I am lookin for a way to get some decent bass out of it. I don't really know how to express "how much bass", but to put it into perspective, my friend has 2 jls in a ported box with a jl 500 w amp in a 99 2 dr tahoe. I would like at least that amount. problem is, were do you mount subs in my truck? under rear seat looks very tight, as do behind rear seat. I am lookin for any or all ideas, and am open to anything from 2 10s under/behind seat, to 2/3 12's or even 15's in bed of truck, and somehow "ported or vented" or walk threw into cab. escpecially any pics of these installs or links or personal experiences. I've got some more questions, but lets start here. Thanks to the guys that pointed me in this direction, and to Steve.
