  1. Clipping is deadly to your subs save yourself with a oscope or steves device smddd1. Oooor you can have the shop set your gains ect. What if there was a world without clipping.. i'd love to live to that day
  2. No, you were saying you have a bass knob, set the gains on the amp so that your pushing about 400 watts to each, then from there you can move the bass knob either way you want and it will only push out 400w. Just set your gains on the amp. Plug in your bass knob, and use that from then on, your bass knob will adjust your gain, but it won't let you go any higher than what your gains are set on the actual amp itself. Catch my drift
  3. The bass knob will only go as high as you set your gains on youramp so if you set your gains so that your pumping 400 to each, you can crank that bass knob all the way and it will only push out 400 to each and once you go lower on the bass knob of course lower the wattage to each.
  4. Well seeing how you have to split them between the two, you'll be getting 850 each, if your going to push them that hard, i personally think that's way to much for these subs, there 400rms each, you could push them a little harder than that but i wouldn't expect double what it says. On the bright side, you'll be able to push those subs without over working your amp
  5. Haha yeah yeah make fun of me all you want dc thanks again man.
  6. Alright well thansk guys for all your help. Really appreciate it
  7. haha alright will that still give me an accurate reading? Seeing how it's got more wire to travel through.
  8. Alright thanks man, the wires behind the stinger aren't very long, so would there be a way i can make them longer? Im sure this is a simple answer im just to dumb to think of it
  9. Haha alright then i couldn't do it from behind my headunit, instead i'll go with what you guys are saying go straight from my amp, unless it is possible from behind the headunit seeing how there is a constant power that you have to hook up, as well as a ground, and the remote wire is there that goes to the amp, with what little knowledge i have im thinking this could work. Sorry if this is what you were suggesting david and i just didn't catch on and Super, usually your right on the forums i've been reading hehe but just incase maybe someone can come along and give us both some knowledge if it still has to be set.
  10. Sorry for the 20 question game, so one more question, i dont' have to set anything as dc said, as long as i hook it up to my amp instead of my battery? To give me more wire room toplay with can i hook it up from the wires behind the headunit, instead of the ones on the amp. Thanks for any help.
  11. Oh okay, so it goes to the amp, i've been watching the vids that are going to the battery maybe for a dif use. Thanks man appreciate it.
  12. Actually im sorry a better question would be where should it take the voltage rating from. And how to set the voltage to the same. Rather than how to wire it.
  13. One last question, im looking up on youtube trying to learn, but not having any luck hehe, this will be done later, but you set on the back to what volts your battery is? And have it hooked up to your battery? But what else. Sorry if this is a horribleeee question haha
  14. Alright thanks nickers, i just didn't wanna cheap out on anything this time, sold my setup wanna make sure i don't cheat myself out on anything you also have a nice day.
  15. Hey guys, i was told i need to get a volt meter, im still new to all this. I wasn't quiet sure if there was a good volt meter, or if all of them were pretty much the same, if you could suggest a volt meter for me to get i'd appreciate it greatly. If any more information is needed please let me know, as i stated above im still new to all this. Thanks for reading.
  16. K thanks man i don't have any of the bass boost on anyways.
  17. Onneee more thing, the bass knob will only go as high as the gain is set on the amp right?
  18. Lol, i think i got the jist of everyones to set my gain i turn the volume to what i want to always play it at. Otherwise i can cause clipping if i do it the other way around. Thanks guys this helped alot. Appreciate it
  19. Alright well i thinkeveryone cleared this up for me, let me repeat it though, so all i have to do is set it at the desired level i would like to listen to it at, and then turn my gain to what it should be set the rms of the sub, so if the rms of the sub is 500 turn my music to 35, what i listen to it at then set the amp to 500. Assuming i have a 1000wrms amp so there will be nothing but clean power. Tell me if im wrong please still new to this.
  20. Hehe well that's exactly what i listen to it at as a matter of fact, sorry if the question isn't as clear. OHH okay i understand what your saying Supercharged, Turn the volume to what i desire to listen to it at then set the gain. Hopefully that's how it works.
  21. Hmmm...where to start. "well you know how you set the wattage from your amp" What do you mean by the above statement? Maybe it will be easier to tell us what type of equipment you have and what you are accomplish. Sorry i mean the gain, when you set it to 500w. Then turn the head unit up to lets say 40/50, as you gradually turn up your head unit the bass on the sub goes up as well. So that means more wattage is being pushed to it. When you set the gain on the amp, is that the SET limit for the sub, no matter how high you set your volume on the headunit, that at all times the amp won't let more than 500w go to the sub? Im not trying to accomplish anything with what i have now, other than to learn this, so in the future i know more, and don't blow anything hehe.
  22. Hey guys, well you know how you set the wattage from your amp, to set it lets say to 500watts. Well when you turn your volume at the headunit up, the bass goes up as well so im assuming putting in more wattage to your sub. So when you have 500watts set, and you turn the volume up, can it go over that limit? Im confused on this, sorry if i can't be more clear. Thanks
