  1. would it be better to get 1 kinetik hc2400... or 2 kinetic hc1200?
  2. yea they are the same, i got the one brand new like 5 yrs ago, and the other one i got from a friend who actually thought he got rid of the amp when you moved out of town. went looking threw his old audio stuff and there it was in its original packaging.
  3. man ive had old kicker comp 10's and 12's, new cvr 10's and 12's, and just recently got the l5 12's and i love all of them. from low end, to high end, i think they put the best product out there. so yea i would like to deff. get another kicker amp. that 2500 looks nasty but its gonna take some time to save up the money for that thing.
  4. i kinda figured i needed ateast 1 more battery maybe 2 but i like to get your guys opinions. alot of you guys on this site are really smart with this stuff, so i apologize for kinda dumb questions. as far as getting a new amp or amps, i know the 2500.1 from kicker is good, but any other opinions for my 4 l5 12's? expecially after i get another battery or 2
  5. so another battery or 2 would solve my current flow? i was thinking maybe 2 kinetic hc1200. any problems with that?
  6. 2 orion 1200D amps for 4 L5 12 dual 4 ohms subs. then a crunch 4 channel amp for mids and highs, that amp is like 5 or 600 i think. 1 of my orion amps is pretty new, the other is atleast 5 yrs old.
  7. i just got done with my big three upgrade, and i still have dimming headlights. can someone give me some advise as what to do? also my subs sound the exact same, no difference in sound. i want to add some secondary batteries but not sure what to go with. prolly because im also thinking of getting a new amp. maybe a kicker zx 2500.1 and if thats the case, what secondary battery should i get?
  8. Alright, I grounded the RCA on the head unit lastnight, the engine who've is 100% gone, so that's cool. I unhooked the subwoofer amps when I was having problems so I got one of those installed today before work, when I turned it on the humm/chatter was fine as well but I still don't think I was getting full power, gain is all the way up and still no humm so im happy about that, I will install deco d amp today after work and maybe I will catch lightning in a bottle, prolly not though knowing my luck, thanks for the help guys
  9. I can't load pics because my camera is broke, go figure lol but yea, I will do that when I get off work then ill get back to you. The humm coming from the subs has been going on since I hooked up the new subs and amp. The engine whine just started lastnight. On my head unit, I have 2 sets of pre outs, front then rear/sub. The subs are hooked up to rear/ sub. The front pre out is going to my amp with the mids and highs. And that is the amp with the engine whine.
  10. Sorry man im just trying to get all the advise I can, and learn as much as I can.
  11. It says in my manual if I piggyback 2 amps, have one in master and 1 in copy position. The humm/ chatter is not loud but it is noticeable when the volume is off. If I unplug the rcas it does stop. Is that clipping that I hear, just constant chatter sound? Of I adjust the gains it goes away, but then the gains are less then half way
  12. So based on the info i've given you guys, aside from me not doing the big three upgrade, yet. Is there anything else you guys can think of as to why my issues just won't go away, or do you think this head unit is the issue? Once I ground the RCA'S do you think that will solve my problems, and to answer the question, when I start my truck and unplug the RCA'S does the humm go away, yes it goes away. Is that bad or good?
  13. Well you tell me cause I really don't know, all I know is the RCA'S are all monster brand. They are all shielded, that's all I really know. They cost me like 50 bucks each lol
  14. Ok I will try that RCA ground next, do you think that will solve the humm for the subs along with the engine whine for the mids and highs or are they seperate issues?
  15. I ran power and RCA'S on both sides of the truck. Each side is for each amp.
  16. 2005 ford explorer, 4x4. 4.0 v6. All three grounds are under rear bench seat. Each is secured using 3/8 bolt with washers on head and nut sides. And I didn't mean to say ground the h.u. I meant ground the RCA'S
  17. Almost forgot, my amp powering my mids and highs is now producing an engine whine! Lol it too has its own power, ground is same as others, bare metal to bare metal terminal. RCA are some monster brand ones, cost like 40 bucks. Fuse for power wire is fine. Its some little 3 or 400 watt amp crunch made like 8 yrs ago. The whine just started happening lastnight after I relocated my grounds. I've had no problems with that thing at all till then. The head unit I have is a pioneer DEH-P3000IB, it too does the job fine. Or so I thought. Could the ground for the head unit be loose? Should I ground the RCA using a peace of wire?
  18. Alright, many of you have tried to help me out on here with a couple topics and I appreciate that a lot, but I have given up on this stereo. I have downloaded the mauals for my amps and hooked them up exactly how it describes and its getting me nowhere. My amps are still the orion 1200d's. Each amp has its own 4 gauge power wire going to starting battery. Each ground was reinstalled lastnight to knew locations, bare metal to bare metal ground terminals. RCA from head unit to master, then master to slave. 2 12" woofers wired parallel to 1 ohm to each amp. 12 gauge speaker wire. Brand new 150 amp anl fuse for each power wire. All that said, im still getting a humm /chatter coming from subs when head unit volume is on 0. If i play with the gains it goes away but the gains are at like less than half way. My best guess is lack of power? I have not done big 3 upgrade, 1/0 gauge is being shipped as I type. So is that the problem, the lack of power? Because if its not that it has to be the amps right? As of 2 weeks ago they both ran perfect. I just want to figure it out cause im going crazy over these things. Do I need to install a secondary battery to power amps.? Maybe even 2 secondary batteries, 1 for each amp. I mean they are only 1200 watts, im not producing that much power, I could understand if I was SMD with 30k watts! Lol just please someone help me out. I need some good news for a change lol
  19. Thnks for the input. The 10 cubes with 140" of port, would you fire the subs on top and port on side twards the hatch or put port and subs on same side firing twards the hatch? And what would that box be tuned at? 10 cubes might be a hair small unless that's after displacement? And would you happen to have a design for that box?
  20. Sorry didn't mean to do to of the same posts
  21. Sure thing man, thanks for the help
  22. And yes the amps are the old 1200d amps silver, with high and low pass filters lol I struck gold when I found those
  23. The boxes i am using were built by me, with 3/4" mfd... the boxes are 5 cubes after all displacement. They are tuned to 30 hz. A little too low i know. But thanks for the info and opinions, really helps. But my only question is... how do i strap the two amps together? I have never done that before, in a newb. quote name='sensai' timestamp='1308142550' post='1570265'] The first thing you need to consider is your box. Do you have the proper enclosure, port area, etc from the box that you currently have now ? What box are you using? Who built it? What's it tuned to? I can assure you if you are using the old 1200d models ( crome) ones that the amps are not your issue. In testing ( and I have done just about all the testing you could do with the older Orion stuff as I used to be sponsored by them) I can tell you that 2x1200's strapped were STRONGER than a single 2500d. I would look into getting a single enclosure instead of using 2x of the same boxes you have. Just an opinion but then again what da hell do i know
  24. I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on building a box/box's for 4 08 s12 L5 4ohm subs Not sure if I should make one large box like 16 cubes, with like 150" port, or make a box with 4 seperate chambers and ports, maybe even 2 boxes with 1 chamber each and 1 port each, I just don't know... please help and give some advise as to what I should go with, any and all boxes are appreciated
  25. the battery is my starting battery tho, i do not have a 2nd battery installed for just the stereo. if i need to do so, ill have to save a little more money up. but yea the battery is my starting battery that provided power to my whole truck
