for that price range, i say definitely check out the knukonceptz kits, they have some of the biggest wire i have ever used, even have to trim the 1/0 a bit to get it to fit into 1/0 fittings. that being said, i've always been a huge fan and user of kicker 1/0, just my preference tho and you can get 20' rolls of it on sonic electronix for eighty bucks

how much lighter is a sheet of bitch vs mdf.. ive always wanted to know
i have never weighed it, but i would guess a 4x8 birch sheet weighs about 70% as much as the same sheet of mdf
edit: ^^^ damn, close for a guess
-
ive used both mdf and birch, and money aside, the birch is the way to go. much lighter, and in my experience cutting it puts off a LOT less sawdust, maybe not important to everyone, but i like my garage clean haha

makes perfect sense, and i think the first thing they try to determine, like mentioned before, is the resonant frequency of the vehicle, then design a box that has a favorable response curve for the tuning of the box and rf of the vehicle

i second to pay the man, he worked out a tough design for me and it went together like clockwork. good guy to deal with and definitely knows what hes doing

Thanks for the input. I would say for the first week that may have been MOST of it, but we took literally 2 weeks of sealing/bracing/foaming/rodding everything to get it as tight as can be. It looks like I can take the box down to about 19 cubes and just shrink the port by 1/2 inch on each side to keep my tuning the same.
cool. just test it out and see what you get... make the changes reversable so if it doesnt work out you can take them out and tweak it until you get it where you want it.
-
with the way the box is put together, i wouldnt imagine they are unloading but its always possible. to me it sounds like the box may be a bit on the big side for the power they are getting, or could simply be(though not likely by looking at the build log), that the box is not as air tight as should be.

#2, go hellaflush! lol

You guys know any good sites to order 1/0 gauge from? local car audio shops over charge like crazy on their wiring.
good 1/0 isnt cheap, that being said i have used knukonceptz and had good results from them, but i still prefer kicker 1/0 over all others, just my opinion. if you want kicker, sonic electronix has 20ft rolls for eighty bucks and thats enough in a lot of cars for one run and grounds, just need a fuse holder
-
My opinion is buy the biggest one you can afford

You dare to defile that sweet, poon magnet of a classic american muscle car with a sound system? Lol. The engines sexy rumble is music enough for me, lol. But it is dd, so it can be forgiven. What engine does it have? Man that's going to be a bad ass ride.
yes, the engines rumble has its own sexy sound, but nothing feels quite like bass haha. thanks ryan for working with me on this one, i got all the cuts made today and hope to start assembly tomorrow

per foot, yes, far more expensive, at least on the kicker. may as well get the whole kit

Oops forgot to erasw the first http...here it is.
Here is a super rough draft of the box. Between which points do you suggest the 45?
i just told you in the post above this one.... but once again, in this build its just because you want them there, theres likely no real benefit
-
betwen I-K, J-L, A-E and H-D, once again its not necessary and maybe overkill, but if you want to do it go ahead, it wont hurt anything
-
Throw in a rockford fosgate bdl?
Not sure what that is?
-
No thanks man, looking for something simpler than that with at least 4v pre-outs

Cut out rear deck?

what size subs are you thinking about mounting there? if you are trying to put your subs in the same spot your old deck was, they better be some 8s or MAYBE 10s because most decks arent that deep. if you are just wanting to cut it and still leave the subs on a box in the trunk, i dont see that much gain to be had versus just porting through the deck. i jsut did this to my 69 chevelle over the weekend, port firing up through the rear deck.
tapeing the pattern underneath the deck...
piece that was removed...
view from above, still have a beauty ring that has to be installed to cover the edges
