To answer your question about gain setting on the amp, you could definitely be clipping. Due to the fact that your head unit puts out so much voltage, it doesn't take much of a turn on the gain knob to match that voltage. Does that make sense?
-
All of my Kenwood eXcelon units were clip free at 35/35 on the volume knob. You get full 5V from the sub out RCAs, I always set my sub level at +15. This was still, clip free on all eXcelon decks.

Amart88 has a Mechmman 370 hairpin alternator for sale. It looks to be in VERY good shape.

Regarding the sealed up dilemma, just FYI my regular cab truck does a 150+ at the headrest and I'm lucky if it does a 147 sealed up. Regular cabs are just that way man, if you want louder sealed, add power or number of subs
-
The box doesn't look very solid but if it is acceptable for you I guess that's all that matters. The guy that built it, does he have any prior fiberglass experience or skills with a saw?
-
Please do NOT take offense, I'd throw that box away. The craftsmanship looks pretty sketch. I'm not sure if that is silicone or drywall mud on the outside but it shouldn't be there. I'd rebuild with better cuts next time and a well fit/built box.
Regarding your issue, regular cabs for do well with the windows up. You lose all kinds of output when you seal them up. Adding a second sub would definitely be the easiest way to get louder.

Box rise is a big factor in how much power power your subs will actually see aswell
There is no such thing as box rise. There is impedance rise though...
Everyone runs those subs on 1K each and they are fine. Because=Sundown.

Do you know where the low lows come from in a bandpass enclosure?

I stay in the group for the lulz

A lot of people overpowering them are idiots too. Sundown has a lot of fanboys that love to think they're getting huge gains by simply doubling rated power. 1200-1500W RMS is plenty to get those subs to do their job. Don't go anywhere near the Sundown Audio Only page on Facebook or those guys will have you believing you need an SCV4000, SAZ5000, OR just an NS-1. They've ALL got "a buddy" that runs an X on 3K+ and a Zv4 on 5K. Stay away from those guys.
To again answer your question, your power will be fine. Make sure you can feed voltage to those amps you have, they're power hungry and pull hard.

The manual says car off as well. My manual does

That Gatorade is clearly blue and black

Give us pictures of the box and a picture of or installed the vehicle as it sits now.

I didn't think about sir leaks or port noise, that could be what you're hearing. I'd have someone who has heard many different issues with subs listen to them. It's hard to diagnose via this format. The quality of hope the box is built can play a factor for noise, as mentioned, with port noise or leaks.
-
I don't think that power, clean or dirtu, free air or in an enclosure could kill that sub. It sounds like a defect in the assembly process. If we were talking about a 5K amp on it or a massive box with rated power then I could see a failure from the install but on THAT power, I just can't see how in the world it could have been user failure unless you mixed up a positive and negative.

Two things here, first, dynamic is burst power. Many amps can do WELL over their RMS ratings for a burst. Second, good luck keeping voltage at 13.7V wired at half ohm in the real world in a vehicle hooked up to subwoofers in an enclosure.
The amp is STOUT, but buying it to expect 8K Daily would be a foolish decision.

Was that Singer in the background early in the video saying that he loved it? What a crazy person!

Get a high output alternator, there's your answer.
-
Your ears won't heart the difference with a few hundred watts. If you feel like spending money on a wonderful amp, do it.

Don't do a 4th order bandpass. You'll get more output from a standard ported box. Subs up, port back will be fine for that vehicle.
-
What power do you have ?Good point. It's Sundown so you'll want to send at LEAST twice the RMS to either choice you make. So 3K per Zv3 or 1200-1500 per SASo I'm looking for some new subs. I can't decide what to get. I'm in between sundown sa10 and zv3s I will be running two in a 2cu ported box. System wil be in a trailblazer. Which would be a better option for maximum bass
You're welcome

Go with the Zv3.

After 24 hours, I see 12.8-13.0 depending on the weather.

Umm, no one has a clue if your box is ok. General dimensions don't give any detail about how it's built, port size and area, etc. Need pics
