  1. a 3 inch voice coil should do it...but i am open to suggestions....i already have a form made up for vacum forming the star shape cone...lol it was for a different project thought i might be able to use it on this one ... i have found triangles, hexagons, octagons, ovals and squares...by my count that make 5 other shape, than a circle and i am sure that they were told that there was a reason that speakers are round....if anything i will have a one of a kind shaped subwoofer to run.... And i am about being a one of a kind person... ty for the websites that you have shared they are exactly what i am looking for....when i get the basket and motor made and attached ill post a pic...
  2. going to build the star shape basket and i am aware that different shape woofers can have some problems...but figure a hard plastic cone should hold its shape....if all else fails i can just build a round one that will hold up to some watts... thought the star shape would look cool if it worked
  3. I am new to building my own speackers i am wanting to build 2 15'' subs that will hold up to 5k watts... I am having troubles finding... voice coils cones rubber surrounds ..... the project is a off the wall shape for a sub like a star or something like that the basket isnt a problem i have a friends with a cnc machine that owes me a favor....lol... any help on where to fingd the parts would be a help ty
  4. ty guys all on the tips having trouble with the subs again imagin that...lol amp and everything is testing okutube and steve have been a big help....think i am sending the subs back and going with a quantium spl subwoofer... i guess while them are out i am going through the whole system....i really think there is a head unit problem...like a dumb a%% i let the local car audio guy hook up the radio...a rumor is floating around he is selling referbish head units.... that is what i get for not doing it myself....testing begins that way in can figure out what is wrong with it other than the equipment they sound really nice for the two weeks they ran dont know if the kid played with a knob...stay tune more to fallow.... tested my setting still waiting on my new arm dso nano mini oscilloscope to get hear to rest the amps gain...lol but the reading igot off the clamp and the dmm at this time are 40hz test tone.... volts = 35.5 amps = 23.3 watts = 827.15 stay tuned for the resualts when i get the o-scope hooked up and set the gain the right way...lol
  5. ok have been doing some testing and i am looking for a cd to setup the gains for my amplifier any help would be nice on where i can pick up one....thank you for your time
  6. boss phantom ph5000d peak power at 4 ohm 1800X1 @ 2ohms 3500w x 1 @ 1 ohm 5000wx1 min speaker impendance is 1ohm mono input impendance 10k ohm input sensitivity selectable 100mv-2v or 2v-8v frequency responce 40hz-150hz signal to noise ratio 100dB crossover/filter range low pass 50hz-40hz subsonic 15hz-40hz bass boost variable 0- +18dB phase shift selectable 0/180degrees fuse rating 40a x4 that is the amp spec sheet the box is ported with 2.5 cubes preside and tuned for 35hz
  7. the cap was for good measure didnt have head light dimming...but wanted to make sure....the alt is 150 amp... ty for the advise for now i am running 4 gauge wire in the whole system but have the battery terminals for the 0gauge...lookn for 20ft spool to replace the wiring...lmao i do have a memphis 1100.1 d amp as a stand by but could pass up an amp that says it was 5000w for 199.99 new the memphis i have cost me 450 new big differents in price and i am happy if the boss amp is only doing 2500 rms @ 1 ohm... and yes the boss stuff is low end but so far they do sound good i dont have the amp turned up and i am on my second set of subs got a bad pair right off the bat...imagine that! but the second set are holden up to a quarter turn on the gain! and it shakes everything
  8. i knew i was going to caught heat about the manufacture of my audio equipment..but then my equipment cost me only $500.00...lmao and i have massive sound coming out ot it will go to the pack and do a video of it.....
  9. Hello i am new name is Jason.I thought i would share my build....lol i know the equipment isnt up to your alls standers but it sounds good....sorry about no pics i still havent figured out how to upload them to this forum...lmao I am open to advise it has been about ten years sence my last build.the equipment is all boss audio the subs are 15'' 156 4 ohm dvc phantoms, the amp is a boss phantom ph5000d... specs from boss says that the subs rms is 1250w each and peak is 2500w. Amp spec sheet says it is 5000w @ 1 ohms...i am sure these specs are over rated but still like to show off the work...all wiring is 4 gauge i am also using a boss 18f capsator... no trouble with the lights dimming anymore..lol got that fixed...going to hook a clamp to the amp to see what kind of power it is producing i am sure that the specs are off would love to know how far off they are...lmao let me know what u think
