  1. Maybe he is one of those sex after dinner kind of zombies. He was just getting a head start.
  2. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=20680247&nid=711&title=after-gory-incidents-online-zombie-talk-grows I heard about the first story where some naked dude ate some poor guy's face. Now all these other crazy stories are surfacing!!! Made me think though, if by some slight chance the world goes all Walking Dead on us... loud ass stereos would probably come in handy. You always see zombies crowd around a vehicle, break the glass, eat the folks inside... and depending on the initial rating on the movie, might see a titty pop out as they eat the hot girl of the group. However, with most of the builds I see on this site, the vibrations from the stereo would probably make it hard for the zombies to grab onto the vehicle, therefore, causing you to drive on by, to where ever your destination is. This is definitely a weird post, but its 1:30AM here and I can't sleep. So, how would you use your stereo to fight off the zombie apocalypse? If you could, swinging an XS Battery into some zombie's face would do some damage. Maybe just run around taping all their mouth's with Second Skin would do the trick. Who knows, let's hear your ideas?
  3. Thanks for the replies, it looks like I will be going with the HO alt and single battery, hopefully in the next couple months. It just seems like the better way to go. This damn stereo addiction!!! I am starting to think it may be a good six monthes before I get some bump. First comes the wiring & secondskin, then comes the eletrical... Do it right the first time, and never have to worry about it again. Don't worry, I have been taking pics along the way so when I really get moving I can start a build thread. Thanks all, and Kylar, one of these days, I'll have to get up your way, and demo that bad ass Acura of yours.
  4. I told him what I was planning to do with the alt when I asked him for the quote and that was the size alt he wrote back with. Not sure if he makes a bigger one. I know it's not the biggest out there, but from what he said, it should be a direct bolt on.
  5. Ya I'm still here. I have been busy cleaning up the civic. I ended up re-doing and really cleaning up the rat nest of the alarm install myself and had to replace my actuators. It's all good now. My budget is tight, however, not so tight, to cut major corners and have problems from the get go. I see a lot of set ups with multiple batteries and stock alts. Looking at the motor and alt, I probably do have that little 70 amp alt. I also have the eld to deal with. I saw a write up for a bypass for it.
  6. Hey all, I am finally playing catch up with my little civic, I am making plans to beef up my electrical system to handle the stereo. I plan on running around 800-1000wrms at most, and was wondering which electrical system route would benefit my amps the most and help keep the voltage up. Set up 1: Singer 170amp HO Alt Biggest XS battery I can fit under the hood Big 3 upgrade Set up 2: Stock Alt Biggest XS battery I can fit under the hood 2nd Battery in the trunk Big 3 upgrade I hope this does not come off as a vs. thread, because it is not meant to be. I just want to see what set up would be better in my situation. Are these set up's overkill for the amount of power I'm running? What are some pros and cons between the different set ups?
  7. Could always try wrapping in with some second skin right? Just kidding... Haha I made a funny!
  8. You guys are the best thank you for the suggestions on the compressor. I will probably stick to a smaller 5 gal one since I don't want to spend more than my budget and can probably get by without running a paint gun or da. I already have a couple electric da's. Thanks for the suggestions on those bits. It's always nice to see something cheaper than what you expected to pay. Any brands of compressor or bits to stay away from?
  9. Hey all, I am looking for suggestions on an air compressor and some router bits. I have never owned an air compressor so I have no idea what to look for as far as specs go. Same thing goes for the router. I have always just used a jig and circular saw. I am looking for a smaller air compressor that could run a small staple and nail gun, spray small projects down with primer and glue, and maybe run a small da sander. Will only be running one tool at a time. Mainly wanting for some projects around the house and car audio projects. Wanna try to stick around 150ish for price. As for router bits. I am just looking for the basic bits to cut speaker rings, copy patterns (a bit with the roller on one end), and rounding corners. Prices seem to be all over the place on these, so I have no idea what I should be paying. I would like to keep it to a budget, but I also want decent bits. So if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be amazing. As for rout
  10. Technology is moving so fast with phones. They are gonna have to start doing yearly upgrades soon.
  11. I used a couple of their Picasso amps 6 or 7 years ago and loved them. Never used their speakers, good luck.
  12. Awesome, I have some free time tomorrow and will be going to talk to some storage units near by. Hopefully I find something. On a side note, somebody toilet papered a few houses in the neighborhood last night, including the old dude. Felt bad, maybe I'm not the only one he complains about. I would love to move, but I don't feel like wrecking my credit trying to short sell my house. Kinda stuck where I'm at due to the economy.
  13. Wow this thread blew up in the last hour. What did you guys do for power? The original CC&R's we signed when we purchased the house stated 10pm to 8am. At the last annual meeting (Nov '11) there was a request to move it to 7pm to 8am and it passed. I was out of town for this meeting, however my wife was there and did not tell me it had changed. Well there's a portion of the issue. You're running a circular saw at 7pm. But I wouldnt have complained to HOA, I would have taken the issue up with you, if it even bothered me that badly. Sounds like your neighbors are the type of people that'll stay at a hotel if they ever have work done near their house. Ya I'll take responsibility for that. There is an older gentlemen that lives 2 doors down, that polices the neighborhood like crazy. He is the one who filed the complaint. I'll be polite, and just say he makes my life interesting from time to time. Thanks for the advice, I am polite, and I am in an active negotiation with the HOA and developer trying to work things out, its slow moving, hopefully things work out in time. LOL, I think this has gone a little off topic with all the HOA stuff. Does anyone else have any ideas of finding a work area? Besides the storage unit idea, I can't think of anything else that doesn't include renting commercial space with long lease periods and 1,000's of dollars.
  14. Home owners association. I own a house in a development and the HOA pretty much is supposed to maintain uniformity through out the community. For example: landscaping, whether or not you can hang a dish on your house and a million or different rules they can throw in. My problem is I was running a little circular saw in my garage around 7pm and apparently there is "quiet" time after 7pm. It was 10pm, but that was amended... That's a whole mess I won't go into. Get the idea?
  15. My dilemma is that I have an HOA from hell and the community I live in hates noise. I got a complaint letter a couple months ago from rebuilding the closet shelving in my house. I am looking for suggestions for getting a little work area where I can go and run power tools, fiberglass, and make noise without the neighbors bitching at me. I have seen a few people who seem to rent out what looks like storage units, and run business out of them. I have no idea what they do for power and such. The cheaper the option, the better, and any help is appreciated as I am stumped.
