  1. I would recommend a GM large case truck unit. We have them available in 170 - 370 amp configurations, priced $200 - $749 depending on amperage and options. We can easily set you up with the harness to make everything work with single wire hookup. Wiring it in is no big deal, making the bracket is the hard part.

We have some 340 amp units on E-bay promotion right now, they come with the adjustable external regulator and everything. All you have to do is hook up a single ignition switched wire for it to work with your ford.

  2. Our new triple 320 amp alternator kit might fit that puppy. We've never tried to put one on a 4.3L Astro van, but the front of the motor is the same as the 9600-2000 5.7L so it should all bolt up. Just let me know what color you want the alts to be and we'll get one on the way !!!

  3. Sorry for not answering. We experienced violent storms in Knoxville on Thursday, and did not have any power or phone system, so we could not open up on Friday. It sounds like you have troubleshooted everything correctly, there is a chance that the regulator or adapter harness is faulty, but I kind of doubt it, as we tested that unit through a Scion/Toyota harness on the dyno before we sent it.

Maybe we could upgrade you to one of our new 320 amp 6 phase units on exchange? We are having a sale on the new Scion units, maybe we can upgrade you while troubleshooting it for a reduced cost. Or we can just test / repair your 2010 model unit, it's up to you.

  4. Glad you are happy!

The color codes should definitely match in our instructions, we will look into your application and make sure that the correct instructions were sent with your unit.

Regarding the AVBM heat shrink- We purposefully make the connections very stiff to prevent the wire pins from pulling our of the connector. Also, the wires are left extra long to prevent unnecessary stress on the wires at the plugs , for the same reason. The AVBM is not really designed to be "tucked" it is meant to be up and out in the open. This is to allow accessibility to the potentiometer, and also to reduce stress on the wires. Most of our customers are much more concerned with durability and accessibility than a "show car" under hood appearance, so that's why we opt to leave the AVBM with plenty of length.

  5. We do not recommend customers re-clocking units themselves. In order to properly re-clock the alternator, you will need a good quality 1/2" drive air impact gun, as well as an inch-pounds torque wrench in order to re-torque the through bolts. The main reason why we do not recommend it, it because we set the unit up with an extremely tight air gap to maximize performance. This generally requires finesse during the assembly process, otherwise the the rotor will lock up tight and not spin.

  6. big battery under the hood 2 group 31 battery in the back and a 270 unit will do fine

As far as for amps any brand is good just depends on your budget I only ran aq dc RF kicker ,that's about it I liked them both have ur cons and pros but it's all up to you do some research and after putting some actual thoughed you will find an amp that suits you best

    Goodluck

  9. No, your alternators do not turn off. It will however take a couple minutes to replenish the (6) battery bank if they are discharge. In order to properly charge those batteries, they should be charged at about 16.8 volts or so. Also, make sure that you are keeping a 14 volt battery charger on them to top them off between rounds, and when the vehicle is in storage.

  10. Hey guys- just thought we would let you all know about a new line of alternators we have released. Truck-Tough alternators are hot rated at 240 amps, make 140+ amps at idle, and feature the same beefy internal components as our other units, but at a slightly lower cost. Truck tough units come with a gun-metal anti-corrosion coating that is great for corrosive conditions found in coastal or snowy conditions, and are built for 100,000 mile durability and daily driving. Like all of our alternators, these units are hand-built by us right here in Tennessee, and come with the same 2 YEAR limited warranty as our MechMan units.

Available for most popular vans and trucks, all applications are available for purchase on our online store!!

Use coupon code: TRUCKYEAH to save another 10% off their already rock-bottom pricing !!!

  11. i possibly would but don't know how to work and install in car and still have all OEM components work!! But sick video, thats a string electrical and winch!

    I have 4 vehicles:

    1993 Ford Mustang (Drag car)

1989 Chevy pickup w/ 92 corvette LT1 swapped into it

    1999 Chevy Silverado 6.0L

1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L (soon to be 5.3L chevy powered)

All four of them run perfectly at 16.8 volts daily w/ 14 volt batteries. The only issue I have had with any of them is that the 97 jeep "check gauges" light comes on in the dash.
