  1. I would recommend a GM large case truck unit. We have them available in 170 - 370 amp configurations, priced $200 - $749 depending on amperage and options. We can easily set you up with the harness to make everything work with single wire hookup. Wiring it in is no big deal, making the bracket is the hard part. We have some 340 amp units on E-bay promotion right now, they come with the adjustable external regulator and everything. All you have to do is hook up a single ignition switched wire for it to work with your ford. http://www.ebay.com/itm/92-93-94-95-5-0L-5-7lL-CHEVY-TRUCK-MECHMAN-HIGH-OUTPUT-340AMP-ALTERNATOR-/221089797234?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3379fa9472&vxp=mtr
  2. The GM unit doesn't have any parts in common with the chrysler unit, so we can't really recase it. Shoot me an e-mail @ [email protected] , and we might be able to work something out on a partial swap, or if nothing else, a discount considering you are a repeat customer.
  3. These can be ordered in dual 170 amp versions also- 300+ amps at idle for $1000 bucks aint too bad when you think about it!! Keep those orders comin!
  4. Our new triple 320 amp alternator kit might fit that puppy. We've never tried to put one on a 4.3L Astro van, but the front of the motor is the same as the 9600-2000 5.7L so it should all bolt up. Just let me know what color you want the alts to be and we'll get one on the way !!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/150610-mechman-triple-alt-bracket-kit-is-now-available/
  5. Sorry for not answering. We experienced violent storms in Knoxville on Thursday, and did not have any power or phone system, so we could not open up on Friday. It sounds like you have troubleshooted everything correctly, there is a chance that the regulator or adapter harness is faulty, but I kind of doubt it, as we tested that unit through a Scion/Toyota harness on the dyno before we sent it. Maybe we could upgrade you to one of our new 320 amp 6 phase units on exchange? We are having a sale on the new Scion units, maybe we can upgrade you while troubleshooting it for a reduced cost. Or we can just test / repair your 2010 model unit, it's up to you.
  6. Glad you are happy! The color codes should definitely match in our instructions, we will look into your application and make sure that the correct instructions were sent with your unit. Regarding the AVBM heat shrink- We purposefully make the connections very stiff to prevent the wire pins from pulling our of the connector. Also, the wires are left extra long to prevent unnecessary stress on the wires at the plugs , for the same reason. The AVBM is not really designed to be "tucked" it is meant to be up and out in the open. This is to allow accessibility to the potentiometer, and also to reduce stress on the wires. Most of our customers are much more concerned with durability and accessibility than a "show car" under hood appearance, so that's why we opt to leave the AVBM with plenty of length.
  7. We do not recommend customers re-clocking units themselves. In order to properly re-clock the alternator, you will need a good quality 1/2" drive air impact gun, as well as an inch-pounds torque wrench in order to re-torque the through bolts. The main reason why we do not recommend it, it because we set the unit up with an extremely tight air gap to maximize performance. This generally requires finesse during the assembly process, otherwise the the rotor will lock up tight and not spin.

  10. Based on what I see in the pictures, I don't think you need to buy anything. Please give me a call during business hours and I will explain how to wire up everything. 865-522-6166 ext. 204
  11. We don't have 1.3L Corrolas here in the US, so we will need to get some pics of your alternator as it is installed on the vehicle along with your shipping address. 14. I would suggest upgrading, or adding an additional battery for best performance. The battery bank and alternator work together to supply the dynamic electrical loads created by playing music.
  15. I am not sure what you are asking, or what kind of alternator you are using. We can really only give accurate info on how to wire one of our alternators, there is no way for us to know how your alternators are configured if we did not build them. Matt
  16. Yes, that is a 270 amp MechMan alternator. It is identifiable (1) by the solid copper rectifier and oversize output stud, and (2) by the proprietary plug-and-play 3G to 6G adapter harness. Please ask this gentleman to stop hitting the glass pipe. Matt
  17. We offer one of our new Billet 320 amp units for this application. It features a direct fit billet aluminum housing that looks awesome, and has killer durability. Just shoot us an e-mail for more info. [email protected]
  18. No, your alternators do not turn off. It will however take a couple minutes to replenish the (6) battery bank if they are discharge. In order to properly charge those batteries, they should be charged at about 16.8 volts or so. Also, make sure that you are keeping a 14 volt battery charger on them to top them off between rounds, and when the vehicle is in storage. MAtt
  19. Hey guys- just thought we would let you all know about a new line of alternators we have released. Truck-Tough alternators are hot rated at 240 amps, make 140+ amps at idle, and feature the same beefy internal components as our other units, but at a slightly lower cost. Truck tough units come with a gun-metal anti-corrosion coating that is great for corrosive conditions found in coastal or snowy conditions, and are built for 100,000 mile durability and daily driving. Like all of our alternators, these units are hand-built by us right here in Tennessee, and come with the same 2 YEAR limited warranty as our MechMan units. Available for most popular vans and trucks, all applications are available for purchase on our online store!! Use coupon code: TRUCKYEAH to save another 10% off their already rock-bottom pricing !!! http://trucktoughalternators.com/
  20. We are still working on a solution for PCM controlled GMs. We have just ordered a new 4 channel scope, and we are playing around with a few different PCM controlled Fords and GMs to develop an AVBM that integrates seamlessly with the PCM on these vehicles. We have a lot of customers who just order the unit with our single wire AVBM, and just leave the OEM alternator plug disconnected. Of course this results in a "check battery" light in the dash, but I guess a lot of hardcore bass-heads arn't too worried about that...
  21. I have 4 vehicles: 1993 Ford Mustang (Drag car) 1989 Chevy pickup w/ 92 corvette LT1 swapped into it 1999 Chevy Silverado 6.0L 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L (soon to be 5.3L chevy powered) All four of them run perfectly at 16.8 volts daily w/ 14 volt batteries. The only issue I have had with any of them is that the 97 jeep "check gauges" light comes on in the dash.
