  1. Well, there are still different styles, and people sometimes do confuse Drum & Bass with Dubstep because they are both from the UK, but Dubstep originated from 2step Garage when people started Dub remixing these songs back in the late 90's. Then as time progressed, it started forming into it's own style when they decided to throw in Jungle(one of the forms of Drum and Bass) in it. Then as time keep progressing it started evolving into something crazier, then it become mainstream in 2010, and now electro is being influenced into it, which is now starting to become a mess and lose all structure, which is called Brostep

Drum and Bass on the other hand is different, and actually is influenced by Dub, Reggae, and Hip Hop because it's breakbeat style, heavy basslines, and the good use of the drum machine. Drum and bass is a different, more controlled style of music. I find it easier to listen to than Dubstep because it has a lot more structure to it, and can be mixed with a lot of instruments, and sounds while still keeping integrity. It's also a lot more fast paced than Dubstep also, which is why it's popular in clubs, and racing games. And believe it or not, some people than love Drum and Bass hate Dubstep because they find it too crazy for their taste, or in the past, too slow.

If you hear a lot of drum sounds with basslines, and instrumentals in a smooth pattern, that's mostly likely Drum and Bass nowadays.

  2. Since I've seen many other genres here, expect for Drum and Bass (common genre for racing games), I thought I might as well make a topic for it, since I enjoy playing it, so I thought others would like it too, and some of the songs got some really nice basslines.

It can range from 80's Ragga, 90's Rave and Jungle, to today's Liquid and Drumstep. Please don't post normal Dubstep/Brostep here, there's a topic for that. DNB Remixes are welcome too

Here's a list of subgenres also to add:

    - Artcore (Gabber/DNB Fusion)

    - Darkstep (Dark DNB)

    - Skullstep (Old school, new techology)

    - Drumfunk (Chopped DNB)

    - Hardstep (Heavy DNB)

    - Intelligent ("Ambient")

    - Jump -Up (

    - Liquid Funk/Liquid (House, Jazzy Soul, Funk, R&B, Pop, Synthpop, Disco influenced)

    - Sambass (Brazilian DNB)

    - Jazzstep (Jazzy DNB)

    - Techstep (Tech DNB)

    - Technoid (Techno/DNB fusion)

    - Neurofunk (Post techstep)

    - Drumstep (DNB/Dubstep fusion)

and a few more out there.

Here's a guide to help identify some of these subgenres:http://techno.org/el...ic-music-guide/

  3. Well, here's my advice :) ,and I hope the best for whatever budget you have.

    - Do a lot of research, ask a lot of questions, and see if you can get demos on speakers

    - Check craiglist or your local pawn shop to see if you can find an L7 for a good price since they are extremely common actually (well at least around my area anyways)

    - Kicker makes 6x8 coaxials to replace the stock speakers

    - Don't buy prefab boxes, have some one make the box for you, you'll thank yourself later

    - Door speakers are usually 5.25 or 6.5, but look up the sizes or open up the door panels to see for yourself

    - The headunit is usually an 80 watt rms 4 channel that will power your door speakers till you decide to get a multichannel amp, and make sure to look for one with a front, rear, and sub input, and the higher the input voltage, the better due to less distortion.

    - Stay away from entry level Planet Audio or at least anything that only lists max power, if you wanna go budget but good, stick with either MB Quart or Hifonics

    - Since you want to run an L7, which I'm assuming you'd want to run at least 750 watt rms, invest in doing the big 3 with 0 gauge so your voltage can be stable

    - Stay away from capacitors, they do nothing good

    - When installing a power cable, disconnect the negative from the battery so you don't shock yourself, and make sure you put in the fuse for safety so when something bad happens, your car won't go on fire, and the bigger the wire(the more copper it has), the better usually.

    - Audiopipe, and Knu Concepts have good prices on wires.

    - If you don't like the rattle on the car, don't use Peel and Seal, that's only for roofs, go with good brands like Audio Technix or Second Skin for example

That's all I have to say

  4. Everyone has made stupid mistakes glad your not like most and insist you did right but you accepted that you messed up and actually listen to the people giving the advise

Thank you :) Well, I try to have respect for those(btw thank you :) ) who try to give me advise, especially since they built boxes already, and know what they are doing.

  5. Just buy some MDF or birch. By the time you buy all the shit you need to make the plywood decent you coulda bought a couple sheets of MDF.

Even your mom says its gonna sound like shit. Ditch the plywood, save it for an amp rack or something.

Hmm, with all the spare ply, I can make an amp display or rack, or a battery display(if i get a 2nd battery) or something and use the spare the mdf that didn't get ruined for rings if I do my doors in the future or give to my friend who builds boxes for people for extra, so he can cut the pieces for me without charging me, cause Lowes doesn't really cut well( I have no table saw or anything, so having to rely on others unfortunately).

I should have asked you guys before, since you guys have experience building, and I'm just a 19 year old kid trying to build my 1st box

19yr old "kid"? LoL that's adult plus a year. No excuses....you didn't research and ya screwed up. Live and learn

Yeah, you're exactly right, and I'm learning, the hardway though but I should probably should just research, and ask questions BEFORE I do anything. Well, I screw up, I learn my mistakes, and I try again with a better plan.

  7. So I guess there's nothing I can to make the plywood better, somehow I felt this was a bad idea, but my mom kept telling me if I use just the plywood, it's gonna sound like shit, but it I wood fill it, sand it down, and apply a veneer, it'll be better, but I'm extremely doubt this cause even my friend who doesn't even know car audio, but home audio said plywood is crap since I would be losing a lot of sound.

Next time, I'm going to Home Depot(even though it's farther) cause the guys at Lowes screwed me over twice now. I'll just save up money, buy the mdf, avoid liquids(got coolant spilled over on the last set by accident) and try again I guess.
