  1. well that kit that i bought came with a buzzer and a harness that i plugged in to and it had wires coming off it that were matching my colors on my headunit. i might have to get a test light and check it out. just thought they would match up the colors.
  2. To my memory I went red to red and yellow to yellow was that wrong
  3. I know my aftermarket amp is turning off when the car is off but I do not remember what wires I hooked up but I will pull it out and look. Now I'm hearing other guys running wires all the way from the headunit to the factory amp I didn't use no harness like that
  4. i hate to thread jack but this topic is right on. i have a 1996 cadillac deville concour with the factory amp and 11 speaker system. well i replaced all the door speaker with componets and ran a aftermarket amp with and aftermarket head unit. i bought the metra gmrc 03 wire harness and hooked it up and every thing worked but my battery drains over night so now i pulled the 40 amp fuse for my factory amp and every thing works and my car does not drain down. but now my head unit has no memory and have to manually turn it on every time i let the car sit for over 5 minutes turned off. any idea what i did wrong?
  5. i scooped up some dap white silacone. its just a box for to 12 inch rockford p3's so i think i should be good.
  6. got a home depot, i looked when picking up my wood but there was so many to choose from i wasnt sure if there was a popular one that people use to seal there box.
  7. what do you guys use to seal the inside edges of you box besides resin. like what calcking or silacone?
  8. i could have swore it was not the head unit but now i unplug my 40 amp fuse for the factory bose system. my car sat for a week and started up right away when i put that fuse back it in drains it down over a night or 2. the headunit plays music with that fuse out but every time i turn off the car all my settings and memory on the headunit resets. im pretty sure i hooked it up right what could possibly be causeing this.
  9. Well I guess what I need to know is how many amps does a 96 deville pull with the car off. If anyone has an idea what a caddy pulls to get me on the right track that would help. I am gettin about .60 amps.
  10. I have been messing with the caddy a lul bit. I have been useing the miltimeter with the positive 10 amp un fused lead sticking both leads in all the fuses and I was getting a .04 for the faactory bose amp and a fuse called console was giving me a .02 so I pulled them both becuase they were not needed so ill see if that helps I will test a little bit more tonight
  11. Just bought a optima a few weeks ago right when they put the factory alternator I'm gonna go threw this topic and try every body suggestions and take my time and see what I can come up with. Any advise or suggestions are welcome.
  12. A little update, I got the factory back in and drove it for few days and it started back up in the morning but the voltage seemed low at start up then I went let it sit for 2 and half days and it wouldn't even crank it was like at 4 volts now I'm back to were I started
  13. Well the factory is back on now so I might have to have a pro bench test it
  14. Damn now I wish I would have left it in. I'm hopeing that was giving me the draw when the car was off so I will get it tested by a professional to make sure.

  16. a little update, got tired of messin with it so i took it to are mechanic and told him about the upgrades. he said he put a fuse in the fuses that kept blown and the lights worked when i picked up the car he said he think i pinked a wire that it my go out later and it did. then he said the alternator was no good he said he tested it and put loads on it several times and some time it did find others it didnt he said it would say that it had bad diodes then next time it wouldnt so i had him put back the og alternator to get me rollin i guess i will have to take my BRAND new alternator in to a speacilty shop and see if its a quick fix cuse i heard its hard to get a hold of iraggi.
  17. bought me a new charger think my old one went to shit. i need to go get a optima to put up top then im gonna do some more testing this might be as stupid as a bad battery. i was gonna get a new battery anyways. cuse now my battery wont even hold the charge un plugged. i cant get charged up enough to start the car. dont trip you guys im gonna keep you posted just been busy.

  20. Yea its .27 and .60 and on the positive. The dome light was blown before this drain on the battery and the headunit installed I installed the head unit after couldn't figure out the drain. The two runs of zero awg are not pluged in to nothing and the rcas are just plugged in to my headunit. no amps or subs are in the car The big 3 is positive battery to to positive on alternator, negative battery to engine block, negative battery to frame
  21. Well I did what you said with it on amps and nothing came up with the alternator but here's the twist I left the alt power wire in pluged and tested neg to neg and got a .27 then I plugged the alternator power wire in and test it again on negatives and got a .60

  24. lol let me try to word this right. i have somthing draining my battery overnight. so i was tryin to find what was doing it. i was told that the way you find what draining your battery while the car is off is to but a multi meter or test light between your ground wire and battery after you disconect it but leave the postive on the battery and leave in alone. then you start pulling fuses till you test light dims down or your voltage drops.
  25. damn im confused i notice my dome lights dont work either and they blew a fuse put on back in and it blew it right away agian. so im thinki9n that has somthing to do with the problem ill work on it a lil more tonight.
