  1. Well If you give him that amp I would think that would be a great starter system for $100. Honestly if he doesnt know about this stuff, he wont know the difference anyways, and he should be thankful for you just helping him out in the first place.

Yeah, that's true. I mean I'm doin it all for free, but like, I wouldn't ever tell someone to get something or use something that I wouldn't ever put in my car ya know ? So I'm just trying to see what the best I can do with his money is.

  2. Well I'm going to do an install on a buddy of mine's 92 corolla. He wants some subs, and I recommended some entry level 10s to start out with. Kicker comp, fosgate p1s, cheap stuff. He told me a buddy of his is selling two audiobahn 12' "special edition" woofers, for 100 bucks. I'm not sure if that's good or not ? I've never really heard good things from audiobahn. Anyone have info? Good deal? Any input on what would be good for around the 100 - 120 dollar price range ? All input is appreciated, thank you. (: !

  3. hmm... well, i do want CVR's... and would prefer a single 'big' enclosure for 4 of them, but then i'd have these 2 extra enclosures i'd be stuck with.

i guess for now possibly, just get a pair of CVR's & that 1000.1 amp... then try to sell the current subs/amp & go from there.

Yeah, just sell the other 2 enclosure's on ebay or craiglist or something. But the CVR's and that 1000.1 amp should sound great. Much louder than those comp's, for sure.

  4. I'm almost sure that neither of the Amos you mentioned do rated. You say you are wired to 2ohms right now which would mean that you have two dvc 2 ohms subwoofers. If that is that case you need to look for an amp that produces about 800-1000 watts at TWO ohms. Your subs (if dvc 2's) cannot present a 1ohm load so that power at 1ohm is typically cut in half at 2.

But I'll name a few Amps that do power at 2 ohms. Basically any kicker 1000watt monoblock, or alpine 1000, jl 1000/1, RF 1000 monoblocks. I actually saw 2 cvr's on a kenwood kac9105 and they sounded great, and that 9105 can be found pretty cheap on eBay. Basically all these amps are out of the given price range, but good deals can be found on them used.

All those amps are waaaay out of my price range. And actually I have two dual 4 ohm voicecoils, wired down to 2 each. If I wired one of the subs to the other, and the 2nd one to the amp, that'd give me a 1 ohm load right ?

  7. So, I've been a car audio enthusiast for about a year now, and have done several installs, but I am now in a bit of a pickle. I have recently purchased my very first pair of brand new woofers. Now, I went mainstream with my buy, but only because I got a good price for them. I bought two brand new Kicker 07' CVR 12's. Now, I bought some crappy Hitron 1400.2 amp off my friend for 25 bucks, and when hooked up to my CVR's, they sound OK, but I know they can take more and sound a lot better. They're in a ported box and have about 1.65 cubes per sub, (I know, I know, they need a little more, but hey, box was a good deal too.) And I'm now looking at amps to buy. I have minimal funds, and have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 amps. A Hifonics HFi 1000.1d, which runs 1000 watts at 1 ohm, (currently each sub is at a 2 ohm load), or a Quantum AQ 2000.D. I can get both amps for about the same price. The Hifonics is 150, and the Quantum is 165. The Quantum will push 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Help me choose please ! Or give me some suggestions for better amps in the 150-190 range. Thank youuu ! (:
