Can be any colour you like as long as it's equal or larger size than your power cable, my earths are blue . Also make the earth as short as possible. How long is it?
i have about 30cm left, i dont know how many that inches that is for you yanks.
anyway if i change the earth that running from the amp to the body of the car, do i need to change the one thats running from my battery to my car body?
-
Depends on a lot of things but I never like to gamble especially with something as expensive as car audio. When using $3000+ amps you don't skimp on anything at all. Just do it right the first time and you'll never run into problems later
can i use some of the leftover 4GA red power cable or does it have to be the black/brown coloured wire
-
Ok, if you're not already a member, check out the link in my sig and sign up to those forums and you can ask there. There should be heaps of places to get your car metered. Either that or you can drive all the way to Perth to use mine lol
I hope I'm not violating any of this site's rules by posting that link, if I am can I mod tell me and I'll remove it..
will do mate, thnx 4 your help

so i fuse changed your sound?
the 4GA wiring i put in yesterday but couldnt get it workin till i got the new fuse holder, which i put in 2day so the 4GA wiring did the trick
-
It will still work and it MAY not cause any damage but it's a good practice to get in the habit of making good quality earths. Worst case scenario you can get some seriously bad voltage drop causing your amp to blow.
chances of that happeinin? percent outta 100?

Hey mate where abouts in Australia are you? Your best bet is to make friends with somebody with a Termlab so you don't have to pay a shop to use one. You make more money a week than I do by the way.
Im in just outside of sydney, and thats funny i make more money then you, im on a peasent wage aahah jkz, 1st year apprentice wat can u sua
-
i just finished puttin the new fuse on my 4GA wiring . you can notice the SQ in the bass soon as u fire the car up, i tuned it, it goes better with the back seats down, but goes bout the same with them up , oh well guess whos cruisin round with the back seats down from now on hahaha
-
man you should have said rms...im sure we all thought you were talking about max is what you had in there
so to get the max outta my system i would have to get new battery, if i get new battery what kind should i get, and if i get new battery do i need anotehr altenator

2x my lil bro is pushin just under 2500 watts to a Orion HCCA 12.4 (my old system). And it hits alot harder then that at volume 20 out of 62... his trunk flex is pretty serious and 1/3 volume, and he doesnt even have the power upgrades to get 14volts out of battery... theres no way ur pushing 2500 watts rms... exp to those subs
i didnt ever mean 2500Watts RMS i meant 2500max, anyway its still pretty good, i cant imagine your guys systems ahahah they would fukin blow your eyes outta their sockets
-
yes,i would not go smaller.
will the system still work with the 4GA power cable and 8GA earth?
if it will work will it fuck anything up?
-
Another question:
does my brown/black earth cable have to be the same gauge as my red power cable which is 4gauge
-
i definitely go by bigger is better. when i have all the equipment i want, ima do a run of 0 ga to each amp. your old power wire was 8ga? my speaker wire is 8ga glad you upgraded tho
yep im glad to, cant wait to fiddle with my amp now that i have the new wiring, im unsure off the speaker wire i have running from my amp to subs...hmmm.... makes me curious.....doesnt say on the wire, might just have to go buy a roll of 8GA speaker wire, very handy
-
the comp i'm building now is gonna have a dual quad core, 8800GT (maybe GTX), 3 gigs of ram, surround sound card, tv tuner card, water cooling kit. might update the HDD. getting a new case too. keeping dvd burner/rom drive. altogether i think it's gonna come out around the 1k mark. not sure what'd all that cost retail. just an idea of what ima pay building it.
for you people that dont know wat quad core, 8800gt/s/x's are, they are top of the line computer parts, i mean TOP of the line

I dont fully agrea with your first statment. While dell and hp provide warenty and "tech support" they are still a lot more money part-for-part compaired to building your own rig. Now if you wanted somthing on the very low end, around $300 then dell or hp would probably be your best bet. BUT if you want something a little faster maybe midrange or even performance, then DEFF build your own. Its way cheaper and way more fun to learn.
it is cheaper to build your own pc, as dell put cheap parts in it and put a big price on it, so you look at wat dell are selling their computers for, go onto a computer shop site and put those parts in shopping cart and it will be cheaper on the site hence build your own pc or charge some asian shop to put a good pc together for you

No problem.
If you ever get into db Drag or Bass Race let me know what frequency you need and I will make a song that hops around that frequency for a high score.
ok thanks man, i love that acidized song that hits hard

Look towards the bottom. There is a post I made a post of what songs have what frequency's.
Stay with he song's that have ~35-38hz and higher.
thanks man, much appreciated
EDIT: i looked at that part, where would i be able 2 get these songs from lol
-
in your vid you it said "pushing 2500 watts soon to be 10,000" ?
yer i mean i have just under 2500watts now, i have 2490wats, and i said soon to be 10,000watts as in im getting my big paycheck :) . so goin out to buy some more amps and subs another probably $3500AUD not inc, another battery if needed and wiring
-
Several of us live by the term "Overkill". Multiple runs of 1/0 power wire (2/0 for some of us) and 8awg speaker wire are a minimum.
ahah
i jsut finished puttin it 4GA, should have looked at the pc b4 i started ahah wouldve got some 0GA, oh well.. loose soem, win some, only shit thing is cant see how much better my system goes now with my new wiring, forgot to get a bigger fuse
-
ahah yeah, well anywayz now 2 strip my old 8GA amp wire out and in with my new 4GA wire i bought yesterday
-
i was lookin for some crankin bass for my 2 12"s, but not competition bass, i need these subs 2 last, which they should at $500AUS each
-
no, the bigger the wire the less resistance (sp)
ok thanks for that, im pretty new to car audio been buyin, getting into it for about 12 months, even though im 17 ahah, i have a lot to learn, thats why i sign up here, learn from the kings of bass
-
Hey guys, i was just wondering if you get amp wires or speaker wire that runs from your amp to sub/s thats bigger then you need will it effect performance or effect your system in anyway?
-
thats my system at the moment, good but not good to my standards, u hit bass, u must hit fukin hard lol. anyway updating my system soon as dat holiday pay comes in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU_rqQUFTUk
part.2 this is b4 i put the 4GA wiring in so hopefully it goes better, now i can play with my amp settings a lil more without the protection light coming on with the shitty lil 8GA wiring
-
i went to a little shop and he just charged me like $10 to get on the termlab...not sure what other places charge. termlabs are about $700 and can be found at http://www.termpro.com
ok thanks guys, appreciate it
