when i build boxes, i ask the person what kind of music they mainly listen to. If they listen to rock, country or metal, i'll do 12-13. I think it lets the bass guitar and kickdrums sound really nice. If the person listens to alot of rap, techno or dubstep, i'll do 14-16 depending on how much air they want to move.

Met up with Jodie and Mike from TNESPL the other day to play around on the termlab.
This is just and introduction to what i'm running in my car for now...One 12" P3 on American Bass VFL 100.1
This is one of my termlab runs. I hit a perfect 140.0 the run before this, welcoming me to the club.
And this is Mike Envoy. His new build is a pair of American Bass HD 15s on a pair of AQ2200d's. This was my first time hearing a 150+ i believe...
It was a good birthday.

One question before I get started; i'm not trying to fuck anything up.
When I adjust the head unit, do I plug in just plug in the right RCA, or left, or does it not matter. Or should I use an RCA splitter?

when tuning with the DD-1, is it best to leave the bass boost knob maxxed out or left at 0?

its been a while since i have had bump in my car. i've had an American Bass VFL 100.1 in there for a while now, and just got it running again. last night i was wasted at my friends, and we were playing beerpong in his basement. i looked in the corner and i saw what looked to be a box and sub. i took a closer look, and it ended up being MY FIRST SYSTEM EVER, that i sold to him 3 years ago. I asked him if i could borrow it, and instantly took it home to hook it up.
Its a single Rockford P3 12 in 2 cubes tuned to about 36hz. Im running it at 2 ohms (about 1k rms) and it feels good to be back in the 140+db club.
I used to only have 200rms going into it, and i was so surprised at how loud it could get with a kilowatt pushing it.

I have decided not to go with Kicker and i am looking at the Obsidian Audio 12 with the Amercian Bass HD1500. Or the sa10 with a ap1000 amp. It doesn't look very hard to build your own box but will the quality suffer becuase of it? Any feedback is appreciated.
if built correctly, the sub will sound WAY better than any prefab box. hit me with a PM when you decide which sub and amp, and i will give you a box design, i've been building them for years.

Thanks for all the feedback. I now how $500 becuase of an early Christmas present. I was looking at the Kicker 12" 10C124 becuase of the price of them. If i were to get them i would get two, and what box and amp should i get. Or are there beter subs for the money i have?
dont go with kicker. Id say grab an Obsidian Audio 12 and American Bass HD1500 amp (ebay). Will come to about $320, build a custom ported box, and that will probably be the most bang for your buck.
