  1. psst......

    your car has one

Ha I'm quite aware but its too freakin cold outside and i'm feelin too lazy to put on 3 under armors and 2 coats to go do it

lol good god. its 60* here in cali but it was in the 70s last week.

ha yea consider yourself lucky man its probably under 20 right now here it sucks pretty bad half of my stuff I can't even finish for my build because it needs to be done outside and the garage is too damn cold

  2. relay or isolator.

    isnt that the same thing?

1st off, you dont need it unless you like to sit with the car off, playing your system until the battery dies. if you are smart enough to not do that, you dont need one. - But it will be hooked up to my stock starter battery which is a lead acid...It was my understanding that different type batteries don't do good together in parralel?

2nd. if it was working in his car until you pulled it out. then im sure it still works. - He dissconnected his second battery quite a while ago so I didn't really have a way to see if it still worked good or not.

last, put power to the coil on the relay then take a dmm and measure resistance across the two poles. if you get a reading, it works. you should also feel the click from the relay when you power the coil. - This will work without the ground pole grounded even?

no, of course you need a complete circuit on the pole for it to work. you could just use alligator clips or something from a 12v battery to the pole for a quick rest.

Ok thats what I thought I'm gonna do that as soon as I can find a 12 volt battery around here

  3. relay or isolator.

    isnt that the same thing?

pretty much. dont ask me why but I was thinking they functioned opposite after you posted that i had to stop and think abotu it. Retard moment for the day isover ill go to the corner now.

lol well I've actually thought battery relays and isolators were two different things too for quite a while because I watched exocontraltos video on them and he described them as if they were two seperate things....

I say this all the time. Please do not rely on EXO for information.

Yea after seeing some of his videos I came to that conclusion too lol

A relay is NOT an isolator.

But can sort of act like one

Well whats the difference then? Does an isolator have a run that goes straight to the alt so the batteries are truly charged separately?

  6. yo that junks is bad ass, can you build me a custom box like yours?? j/k man. hey you have to start somewhere. easy tip... I usualy get my wood cut at home depot, and get it cut a half inch over what i need and trim it right on the table saw when I build. that way i know the cuts will be on. I used to get the whole sheet and bring it home, and cut it up, but its easier to just get it cut up smaller to get home easy, then make final cuts. you can do basicaly this with a skill saw and a straight edge and a few clamps. good luck with it.

lol smartass....but yea that makes sense I think I'm gonna go ahead and do that next time because I hate when my stuff doesn't look good

  7. I've made 3 boxes so far and have the wood for the 4th and 5th now. Best thing to do is get your pieces cut a few inches bigger on both dimensions and cut it down yourself. That's what I do and it works great!

Thats actually clever I never thought of that I guessed I just wasn't prepared for the lowes cutter to have the skills of a 3rd grader with the panel saw..

Wll spend more money fixing it rather than building a new one

    Ok?......

  8. As of now I have a stock battery and alternator in my 07' dodge charger...my current build is gonna be 2 sa-12s on a brz 2400.1...I will have the big three completed by next week and then I was going to work on getting a second battery, I planned on getting a KHC-2000,,now I have two questions...First of all would I be fine with just one KHC-2000? And second of all how would I wire it..Would it be ok to wire it parallel with the stock battery? (I don't plan on playin the subs with the battery off btw) It was my previous understanding that two different batteries especially an acid and agm wired together in parallel would drain each other without an isolator relay, but then I heard that if they're both 12v batteries they'll be fine in parallel.. Also I do have a 200amp pac isolator/relay sitting in a box should I use that just to be safe? My dad used it in his truck for about 5 years lol so is there a way I can test it to make sure it works properly?

Yeah man, don't wire two batteries of different types together

Alright so I guess that isolator is gonna have to be used...since its a 200 amp one wouldn't it choke the batteries amperage a little?

I'm not sure how that works man, but I'd imagine you'd need to run 1/0 wire which can carry up to 250-300a depending on the type of wire you go with so I'g guess 200a is a bit on the small side.

Hmm well I'll deff be running 0 gauge but I guess I'll have to test the output once I get the isolator installed..
