  1. Yeah , it'll be sweet soon enough though. BLOWTHROUGH HERE I COME!!!
  2. Well the MOFO 12 is in its final resting place. It was a pretty decent sub considering its manufacturer and original price. Now i'm temporarily using an adaptor plate and a 10" driver from a Klipsch Powered Home Theater Sub that a friend of phatboi's found roadside. And this sub will be seen in the future , thats a guarantee. It's only a 10" driver that was originally powered by 200 watts. I'm sending considerably more power to it and it takes it like a champ. It moves some serious air for such a small (2" or 2.5" coil , motor is the size of a Kicker CVR motor) sub. But it digs deep and because of the design the coil will not bottom out. Best part is how musical it is compared to the MOFO. It deserves to be in a budget SQ build , very nice driver. FRONT STAGE UPDATE!! I'm about to ditch the current front stage and install 2 RE audio 6.5's , 2 Selenium 6.5's , and a single DB drive P5TW In each door. And gonna try my hand at glassing 2 RE Audio Dome Tweeters in each A-Pillar. Will eventually get my hands on another AP2004 , but until then i think i'll power all RE's on the front using the RE passive crossovers , and the seleniums and DB drives on the Rear channels of my current AP2004. SUB STAGE UPDATE!!! Well today i just got my hands on a MMATS Procast 10 that needs a surround. So because of my VERY limited budget i'm gonna buy a surround for it and run it temporarily. But when i have a little more funds i'm gonna make use of the 15" basket i also got tonight and buy some nice softparts and use the MMATS Procast motor to build a stout 15 that should easily take 1500+ daily and it will be in a blowthrough with interchangable port. That way my rear seats will be usable again , my kids will love that. And after that is completely installed and finished i think i will end the install phase and focus on the enjoyment phase of this build. Heres a few pics of the horns , the klipsch SQ surprise , the MMATS procast , and i relocated my amps to a safer (but terrible place for adjustment) spot in the truck. Also in the works is a nice AGM batt from posey's or square deal , and the entire electrical system will be replaced with 1/0.
  3. THE CRAPTACULAR 75 BUCK TRUCK!! The OMG Horn (This Sucker Is LOUD!!!!!!) It's a EV Midrange Compression Driver With A 2" Voice Coil , On A Jensen Horn Thats Roughly Over 1 foot tall and 2 Feet Wide. It's AWESOME!! Yes , i know i shouldnt be using that battery. But it is strapped down now , my windows stay down , and if it leaks...........WHO CARES?? Its a 75 dollar truck!!! And here's an awesome vid of a car audio junkie in the making. (my daughter Aurora) THE HORN IN ACTION!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DdHbCtq6Lw
  4. And another thanks is in order for zade08 who gave me the noisey kenwood he recently fried. And my cousin for trading me her 80 gig ipod for my 8 gig touch. I got 11000 songs on tap!! i will do some good video's in the near future and will possibly have it out at the usf show sometime soon. I gotta get a battery or two first though because as of today i rewired the sub to 1 ohm since i had a modded amp , and now this thing is a beast!! I know its only a matter of time before i have to get down and dirty and build me a real deal enclosure , but i think im gonna stay within the specs of this box. I really like the way it sounds. Well i'm out for now , opinions , suggestions , and laughs are all welcome. Thanks for reading the beginnings of my build log , hopefully i'll be able to add to it in the near future , and ill get some 1 ohm vids later on today. Here is one with the sub wired @ 4 ohms and the kenwood i have in the classifieds for 35 bucks right now. Ipad doesnt pick up flex like my touch did , but you can tell its moving air , but OMG it's so much better @ 1 ohm.
  5. and after someone made a redneck comment i went for the full blown white trashiness. (Yes , thats an entire roll of duct tape , a confederate flag , and a 4" septic tank pipe.) And here is some nice shots of the EQ amp (modded and am now running @ 1 ohm) its pretty damn nice.
  6. I got the earthquake for my brother but he doesnt want it so i'm using it till i can buy it back from him. And the sub came from phatboi (he said it had coil rub , turned out to be a cracked basket. JB Weld is AWESOME!!) And the box was a homebuilt POS my cousin put together originally for 2 12's sealed. I knocked out the center divider , braced it , capped off the extra hole , measured , calculated and ended up with one ugly but fully functional ported encloure thats 1.85@32hz.
  7. I haven't really followed SMD in a year or so. When the tahoe got rearended was right about the time my daughter was born , but i have been around and am now building the ultimate poor man's music machine. INTRODUCING!! "THE 75 BUCK TRUCK" Here is the story behind the 75 buck truck. The tranny went out in the buick , and my mother in law mentioned a friend of hers had a truck that a junk man was scheduled to pick up for 75 bucks. Well i had every intention of paying 75 bucks and selling it to the scrap yard for 300-400. But when i got to the owners house , he said it runs , but its pouring water everywhere. A shop quoted him 1200 bucks for head gaskets. So i decided to crank it up and see what this truck was all about. Come to find out it only needed a freeze plug!!! So i shut my mouth and gave the owner his 75 bucks in exchange for the title. Now another "need to know" tidbit about this build is so far i haven't spent a dime on the install. Everything was aquired through multi item trades , or hand me downs from local buds after i had to sell off the buicks equipment. So its pretty friggin special if you think about it to have a vehicle that slams nicely and have under $150 invested in the entire project. Heres a picture of it the day i bought it. (BTW , this isnt a before/after thing. I WILL NOT BE DOING ANY EXTERIOR UPGRADES BESIDES SOAP AND WATER! LOL) So here is the current rundown on the equipment installed in this beast. Headunit : eXcelon X592 w/80 gig ipod connected Front Stage Amp : Audiopipe AP2004 (thanks Zade08) Front Stage : Diamond Hex 6.5" Woofers , Midranges and Tweeters From A Decent HT Set (active) Subwoofer Amp : First Gen Earthquake PH-D2 Modded For More Power And Lower Impeadance (Rated 1150 @ 4 , 2000 @ 2 , and said to do a little more at lower impeadances when modded) Subwoofer : 1ST Gen PowerAcoustik MOFO 12" (Thanks Phatboi) Enclosure : Home Built 1.85 CF @ 32Hz (Someone told me the truck is a redneck truck , so the white trashiness of the box is irony at its best. People look and laugh , then jaws drop when i spin the knob.) Heres where the "use whats laying around mentality" came to me. The day i got it legal i realized i had no tunes , so i went rooting through all my stuff and came up with an iPod connected to this And here they are installed But the polks didnt last long and that passive just wasnt my style. So i pulled it all and went back to the drawing board. ended up with this amp (thanks again Zade08) And doors that look like this (thanks yet again Zade08) And the A-pillars (i cant believe the imaging and SQ i get on some songs with these cheapo's) it will get a different treatment in the future but here they are now
