  1. the less ground points you have the better... the more ground points you have the more chances for noise to be introduced into the system

Thanks, in the most recent pic should the top or bottom cap be grounded

no they dont. when caps cannot fully charge and discharge (in a voltage drop scenario) they act as a passthrough. no different then a single piece of wire.

I'm new to all this, Voltage drop refers to the alt not being able to supply additional/enough amps rights? I know you comment was aimed at c-fizzy, I'm just trying to understand it myself. Thanks.

  2. just put them in parallel next to each other + to + then - to - then to your amps if you must use caps

I must for now, my alt is only 120amp (80 stock, I'm using one for a jeep 2 or 3 years newer than my jeep, because it's the only bigger one that will fit) and my lights dimmed pretty bad with my old sony 1200w-D. I'll draw another pic if you can tell me If I've understood you correctly.

  3. I know, I know, most in this forum don't like caps. At least from what I've read that is the Majority Opinion. However, at the moment I can't afford a new alternator I already went $200 of my budget when building the new system. Also, I have heard that caps burn out an alt faster. This is not a problem since I have a life time warranty (on my third in 5 years time). Is the pic below how I should wire the caps?

When I get taxes I will be getting a new alt, and maybe another battery if needed. Baby steps...

  4. the net volume after all displacements would be about 3.8 if i did it right. but the port area is a lil small. if you want some help on a box design shoot me a pm.

Also, I guess I'm not figuring the volume right I still get around 6cf

Am I suppose to just figure the volume for the chamber or the whole sub. Or perhaps I'm just doing it wrong period(.)?

    2' 5" = 29"

    2' 6" = 30"

    1' 1" = 13"

    29" * 30" * 13" = 11310"

    -----

    BACK TO CUBES OF FEET

    -----

    12"x12"x12" = 1728"

    11310/1728 = 6' 5" (to the 3rd)

It's been years since I've had to do area or volume, so I could very well be wrong.

If so, what is the formula again?

  5. What are your max dimensions to work with?

    3' left-right

2' from top of back seat to back door. (that leaves about 2" for the ports to get air).

Height is not a concern, as one that did hit the roof would be bigger than 6cubes. Also, I will not be at all upset if it obstructs my view. I was thinking about a back up cam anyway.

    mb quart? ONX or Q

    ONX

  6. it all depends on the power you plan on pushing to the sub.

    I have an MB1.1500D

    I wouldn't do 6 cubes for a single 15.

Do you know of a box similar with a better Cube count? This is my first box, and I would really, REALLY like for it to look like this. I know I'm asking a good bit, sorry.
