  1. Ya, after working for a few car audio places ive found polk to be the cleanest, I run polk in both of my vehicles, i know how to do ported and itll definatly be cheaper to go ported.... but I might be able to get another pa880 down the road.... they say to get the same sound out of a sealed box as a ported u need double the power.... so... 2 subs and an amp on each will definitely be more expensive... but i think in the long run will be better.
  2. Ya, kinda figuring itll be louder ported as the sub also getting fully powered....
  3. Running all polk audio in my truck, with having 3 kids kinda getting out of the rediculously loud business.... going to purchase a 88-98 under back seat prefab cause them some rediculous cuts id hafta make and the box is only 140$ shipped and rhino-lined. My question is... 1 mm1240 ported with about 1.6cu after sub and port displacement... or 2 mm1240s sealed with about. 1cu each.... also going to be running either setup at 500rms so 2 sealed 500rms or 1ported 500rms. Watcha think???
  4. Ohhh my lauwdy!! tested it outside just in open air..... it'll get your body vibrating pretty damned good!! put it in the truck..... even better.... Now I gotta SCREW the subs in... lol OH and I tested it with my SMALL AMP... PA 880 running at about 500rms between the two!!..... cant wait to put my big amp on it running it at 500rms each.... LOL Thanks guys for all the help.... I ended up going OD 41W 18.5H 20D 20" Port The coating shit sucked... prolly didnt help it was VERY humid today... 90degrees in Michigan is a bitch!! then it rained.... no garage so it sat outside drying with my kids plasic pool over it.... lol
  5. Got the port done, all the flaring for the port, just dismantled it so i can put it all back together with LNails and Bed Liner! BUT FIRST!!!! gotta make the kids dinner.............
  6. Got most of it done... gotta cut the ports... they were outta half sheets of 3/4" so I picked up 1/2" and ill double it up for the port. I made a 1/8th" groove for the port to sit into... :-) Got it all together, got it all predrilled, going to tear it down, Cut the port, and put it together tomorrow peice by peice, while generously coating it with bed liner/ sound deadner / waterproofing stuff, so when it goes into the boat later the MDF wont swell up. Ordering some dust caps and got a guy thats going to print me out some vinyl designs from my old business
  7. That programs stickied on the top of Subwoofers / Enclosures Maybe ill turn the box upside down and make some legs for it so the subs are down firing......... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Im making the box today... kinda scared... my big table saw isnt working... so i gotta use my smaller one that the guard slides around on....... GREAT!!! and menuvering a 4x8 sheet with 1 person gunna be a BITCH!
  8. Well Ill try it out... see how it goes... if not ill just hafta move it and take up some floor space..... which will suck but oh well!! LOL
  9. Lets do.... 40W 18.5H 20D who wants to hit it? im figureing the port will be roughly 17" long, to hit 35Hz
  10. Well I did find another site with air space specs on these and it said Min ported was 2³ each Max was 4³ ea so it CAN be done and I REALLY dont wanna build 2 boxes.... I do have room in either vehicle to make it longer (wider) maybe ill hafta do that....
  11. Put one in car, other in boat. No transferring needed Haha that means 45-50$ in stuff just became 90-100.... ya.... i think the wife would have something to say about that.... and what ive been hearing im going to need alot of output for the boat being an open cabin. Plus 3 kids ill be pulling it out of the truck alot lol so no biggie on that....
  12. You actually divide in^3 by (12x12x12) to get ft^3. Then multiply by two for subs. Which gives .0079 ft^3 displacement for both subs. Still seems off, I'd check your info again brother, good luck yea... i dont know... it says SUB DISP. L so idk if thats sub displacement lineir cause then i have NO idea how to figure that out... lol http://www.americanbassusa.com/product.detail/product_id/23 Theres the sub.......
