  1. That's an awsome system, i love the PR's, I got second place in a bass competition with one of those in 4.5 cubes with an $80 JENSEN amp, hhahahahha. 139.6 dB's!!! They are a pretty rock solid sub, especially for $100 shipped at woofersetc.com
  2. those tests make the comp-vx look pretty damn good for spl, i wonder what an l7 woulda put out on those tests (for the price at least)
  3. w7's actually are an spl sub in a way. When compared to the solox, H2, 9500 and other such subs, the w7 beat all of them except maybe the solo x because of it's excursion. I don't have a reference but it's a comprehensive test on sounddomain or some other forum, it was called like the battle of the 12's when it comes down to it, it's all in the install, but i found this test interesting
  4. The W7 series is a great for excursion and SPL, but when it comes to loud subwoofers it's all about cone area , so a 10 inch is not necisarrily a good choice
  5. It's like i'm in heaven, all the companies have just released new subs :)
  6. the thing that pissed me off most about best buy, is that i could not even have a conversation with any of the other installers about subs or anything,... half of them had a 3 year old dual deck in their car and that was their entire system. I swear almost all the guys there could care less about systems or anything, they might brag about their sweet remote start install in thier car, but who the hell cares???
  7. best buy does suck I'm 18 and i just moved to mankato for college , and that is the only mainstream installation shop i could get my foot in, now that i'm certified and have shop experience i can move on to custom shops and build boxes and fiberglass and do the stuff i was born for ** my last day at best buy is saturday even though best buy sucks, i got very valuable expereience ripping apart almost every kind of car and troubleshooting almost every kinda of issue, so it was a great experience
  8. Thx for the help, I have been building boxes a long time and can figure it out port lengths and box plans, I'm just looking for some advice on how many cubes... 9 sounds pretty good after displacement, so does 42 hz, i think i'll go with that. THis setup will bang. There's a lot of idiots up here in MN with rich ass systems and i can't wait to take them out with this setup. I know it'll be super loud. Noone realizes that the right box and the right electrical system can own just about any setup. last summer i beat a pair of 12" T2's with a RF 4000 watt power amp by at least 2 dB's with my 2 L7 12's and a bx1606d to win a comp, so i need to step it up this year so i can win again.
  9. 4 - 6 ports.... I don't know if i should buy the 3 inch wide ports or the 4 inch wide ports. I would like to use just 4 ports if it'll give me enough port lenght, becasue i'll look good, but i'll use 6 or even 8 if i have to.
  10. ok, when i said about 5 cubes, that was per sub... i think kicker reccomends like 2-6 cubes per L7 And for tuning i was thinking about 42hz??? That is kinda inbetween daily and comp
  11. first of all i'm brand new to this kickass forum I am getting 2 of the 2006 L7 15"s and I need help with the box. I will be using a hifonics brutus 1206d for each sub. My plan is to do a crx style box with both subs firing up and 4-6 aero (persicion ports) facing the tail gate. Since I have a Blazer, I need to build a ported box that will work well for that size of a vehicle. I know that if you have a really big SUV, a really big ported box will sound good, if you have a small SUV a smaller ported box will sound good..... so i was thinkin along the lines of 5 cubes per sub??? (this will be a SPL application and I wouldn't mind having a lil SQ for daily driving, but idk how realistic that is with this setup) Does anyone have any ideas of how big the boxes should be or how many, how long the aero ports should be???? any help is GREATLY appreciated
