  1. I have heard type-R's compared to many other subs in the same car (mine) and I can tell you they soudn like crap unless you get just the right box, so hopefully you'll do some research - I'm sure a 15 would sound amazing with some percision ports, you should look into that

  2. well I installed a new window for $90 :)

Now i guess some kids have been looking in my window and they said they might try and jack my system (L7 15" in 5.5 cubes) But I only got 4-5 more weeks of college, so if i can make it past that then i'm good.

Sometimes at home if i hear people are gonna tepee my house or try and jack my shit i've been known to sit in my wooded upper yard all night (by my car) and set up floodlights and have a shotgun or paintball gun; I just hide it all behind brush and camo. I got a bastard one time trying to tepee, they almost shit themselves.

Now i'm gonna step it up a bit and hide in the pine trees with a chainsaw and a really scary mask on, and if they start sneaking through my yard i'm gonna start it up and pull some texas chainsaw shit (except i wouldn't actually cut them up... hopefully)..... that'd scare them

  3. noone was watching the live feed cameras.... i'm gonna start a petition to get them to record the cameras... I alwasy felt safe from an incident like this because i thought it was recorded, but i guess not.

school is about $14,000 a year i think - minnesota state university mankato

The kids were most likely high schoolers because high schools were out on thusrday for easter, and people in college are much too mature to do anything pointless like that. They were prolly under the influence of something

  4. good news, i found one at a salvage yead for $85!!! idk if i can put it on myslef, i'll have to see.

Yeah, they had a pellet gun i think. My rear glass is about 1/4" thick, so it must have been a gas powered pistol or something to be that powerfull. I guess they were shooting out windows of houses and about 10 other cars. WHO DOES THAT? I also found out the security cameras in our parking lot that I had depended on are just live feed and don't even record.

I got a description of the car who did it, and as i was tlaking to the police i saw the bastards drive by , they were driving real slow and were looking at us.... i told the cop , that looks like the car there, maybe you should go after it, but they didn't!!!

    oh well

here I am trying to smile even though some shitbag just pwnd my car

THEY WANT $1200 TO REPLACE THE WINDOW!!!! I DON'T HAVE THE KINDA MONEY, I'M A POOR COLLEGE STUDENT

I'd maybe say I had it coming if they were trying to jack my system, but from what witnesses said they were just driving through the parking lot of my dorms and they were jsut shooting out random windows for fun.... Two other cars got their windows blown out. My alarm scared them off though, good ol' compustar.

I park 20 feet from my dorm room window, so i woulda got paged and seen their license plate, but I was out bowling for a learning community event!!!!!

  6. ya know, those stores sell their equipment for almost the same price they bought it. They make most of their profit on shipping charges. It's still usually a lot cheaper to buy stuff from them than in a store. You just have to accept the fact that they make their profit from shipping.

  7. aero ports are the real deal. I paid about $50 for the ports for my box and it's worth every penny. It is a different kind of sound..... more impact, sharper compared to my old slot port - and it's clearly louder or the same as port, i think it's a lot louder, but who knows - what sounds loud isn't always what is loud on a meter

  8. I just got done working at Best Buy. I only worked there for 6 months, but worked my way up to shop senior. Then I took some time off to focus on schoolwork, but summer is coming up so i need a job. I live in MN, so there are not too many custom shops, and it's a lot easier to get a job at a major store like circuit city.

So over spring break I applied at best buy, circuit city, and ultimate electronics. They all seemed interested and I'm gonna start interviews soon.

I really want a job at circuit or ultimate electroincs.... ultimate has a huge bay with their own glassing and wood rooms!!! But circuit city has kicker, eclipse, mtx (some of my fav. brands) so i'd be fun to install there.

who all has worked there.... did you like it?

  9. so i got my crutchfield the other day and there were some new RF punch subs. they look amazing!!! I hate the old series becasue they have plastic on the cone and they just look crappy (although they can sound good). These new ones look really classy. Anyone used them yet???

  10. hey, don't hate on best buy

Best buy is probably the best possible place for a new installer to work at. They provide a great place to get expereince tearing apart almost every kind of car and they have THE best tech support line there is. The 8 guys who are on the tech line are mostly master installers, and they help write the MECP tests.

I understand most installers at best buy don't know kicker, or any other kind of sub brands. That is because most of them don't even like car audio, and that is why i quit and moved on to a custom shop, but it's still a great place for a newb.

besides, most custom shops don't hire ppl unless they have a year or so of experience in another shop.
