  1. you need stepdown modules if you cars computer cants handle the 16+v charging that a 14v battery needs

    This is untrue.

Depends on the vehicle really. GM computers work fine up to about 16.8. I have two friends who have ran 14v systems in gm vehicles without separate charging systems and have had zero issues. I've also tested my malibu at high voltage, ecm didn't fuss until i hit 17v.

  2. SPL lab is as close as it gets to a termlab. It uses the same exact motorola sensor as the termlab in nearly replica casing. Never have seen it more than a tenth off from termlabs at events while we're doing parking lot testing (have seen it perform from 130 to 156db). I'm only speaking on behalf of the bluetooth and lcd meter screens.

If you just want to test and get louder, get an spl lab, if you want to get serious about competing and get lots of practice in, get a termlab due to its superior programming for different event setups.

  3. Actually I was just looking on Sundown's site. The SA 10 only has a depth of 6". I actually could make this work I guess. Does the mounting depth of a sub measured from the very top of the box? Or is it from inside the box. Basically what I am asking is if I made my box out of .75" wood, assuming I left 1/4" from the bottom of the magnet to the bottom of the box, would my box have to be 7" thick or 7 & 3/4"?

Personally wouldn't want a pole vent that close to the box. Mounting depth is from the back side of the basket to the bottom of the magnet, so you also have to account for the inch or so mounting ring, rubber gasket, and the surround. Hope this helps

  4. It can't fry without being on, but it could possibly get hot enough to be in thermal protect when you turn it on. Either tint the window or move the amp to keep it a little cooler if it isn't kicking on after sitting in the sun for extended periods of time.

  5. Was thinking about this the other day oddly lol. In the event of a zombie apocalypse i would say a loud car stereo system would be the last thing you would want to have unless it were to somehow disorient them. To have a stereo big enough to disorient them from a safe distance the vehicle would have to be heavvvvy, slow, bad on gas. Three things you would not want due to scarcity and maneuverability. Also it may attract them when they hear a loud noise, like "hey here I am come and eat me".

Bottom line, buy ammo instead lol.

  6. I'm buying a vehicle from out of state this week need some advice from someone who has done it. My insurance will cover me to drive it home so thats not a problem. My problem is plates, a few people have told me I would be ok to drive it directly home without plates as long as I had the titled signed and dated that day. I can't go get plates without a title and pretty sure ohio requires an inspection for out of state vehicles before they can be plated. Who should I call to verify how to go about doing this? Dmv?
