  1. 5,000 is a lot.

I would do a 2,000-2,500 watt setup...a TRUE 2,000-2,500 watt setup. Especially if this is for daily, you dont need gobs and gobs of power to be loud. And you will find spending just as much, if not more, on electrical to even support 5,000 watts.

I would do something like a couple AA Chaos on an AQ2200 or a BC2000.

    this.

    Im lovin' those Cresendo amps.

  2. Well the stakes are a lot higher if he were to make a mistake with a bigger system rather than the smaller system.

jumping to 5kw is a huge leap; especially for a novice.

I'm saying that maybe it would be a good idea to have a system to learn off of. if he were to make a mistake it wouldn't cost him thousands.

    my argument stands.

it's better to carefully plan out your system than to buy it off of impulse.

I wouldn't call it impulse because it could easily be a year before i have the money saved to do this. I have lots of time to mess around with other systems.

  3. Maybe you should start off a little smaller... it's gonna cost thousands to completely upgrade your system.

5000 watt amp - then subs that can handle 5000 watts - then the electrical upgrades to support the 5kw amp - then upgraded speakers to keep up with the subs - then an amp to power those speakers - DD-1 to tune the whole thing - and a new box for the subs.

maybe start out with something you could work with on stock electrical. like a couple of VVX 12's on the sundown 1.5k or whatever package that was.

thats proven to cost more then if he just saves and buys what he wants, he just have to do it slowly. since he already has the 2000 watt amp he can get 1 sub

That sounds even better, I guess by electrical you mean stuff like Big 3, new alternators ect.

5000 watt amp - then subs that can handle 5000 watts - then the electrical upgrades to support the 5kw amp - multiple runs of zero gauge wire - then upgraded speakers to keep up with the subs - then an amp to power those speakers - DD-1 to tune the whole thing - and a new box for the subs.

Sounds like a good idea haha

  5. for a 5000 watt amp you will need 2500 watt subs, trust me it will be really loud good, subs at that rating are AA mayhems FI btl and some DC subs

    There are others :ughdunno:

    well whats your opinion?

Oh the Mayhems wil be just fine. I was just saying there's other brands like SSA, IA, Sundown, PSi, Techforce, AQ HDC4 etc. I personally would go with PSi. The Platform 3's can take up to 3k. Perhaps more and they are just as good as others But, with PSi you can get subs custom built to however you want!

the prices are not that bad either from what i just looked up on the off the shelf section, $445 for an 18" and 2500 rms.. i'm liking that.

Yeah their nice! Or u can request a custom built one. U can build it from the ground up and have it painted any color & anywhere you want!

Does that totally add the dollar signs though? or is it decently priced?

  7. Ok, so I think you guys have settled the fact that its not a true 5K. So what would be a good one to get under say, $800 if possible?

I can list thousands. How much rms power u lookin 4? If 5k is what ur lookin 4 BEST amp around that price is Cresendo BC5500d. Its 900 though.

Just looked that one up, looks nice. Do you own one?

Close enough, I just could never spend 1500+ on an amp. Thanks though

new not many crescendo is around $899 and its rated at 5600 rms not max, so it gets loud

Basically just a new system because the subs are not rated properly either and will not handle true 5000 watts haha,
