  1. yeah ima take the sub out of the decklid and build a custom box for 2 10" subs and put 2 kenwoods in it for now then put 2 sa-10" and use the hole i cut in the decklid as some kind of port. then ima upgrade all the interior speakers and get amps for the highs and mids and new amp for the subs. the toxic speakers are ran off the stock amp currently and i only have a 300 watt kicker amp to the sub. sub wattage is 300rms and 1000peak so it can handle alot more than its getting.

  2. sup guys my names shawn im new to the forums my car is a 94 g20t. i just got a new deck yesterday i traded my flip out indash+money on his end for it. overall i love this deck. it sounds amazing. heres some videos let me know what you think. highs and mids are toxic audio with toxic tweeters in the pillars (bought the car like that im going to change them) also a kenwood 10" free air sub in the decklid wich im also going to be changing. sorry for the dark videos.

    highs and mids

  3. so i decided to make a video to try and get some help designing a box to go in my trunk. i want as much trunk space as possible due to a stroller needing to be in my trunk. anything helps. mabe help me draw some plans? this is the sub i have if that helps

http://ae.kenwood.com/Car_Entertainment/Subwoofer/KFC-W2512 i have the 2011 model but specs are the same just the design changed.

heres the video of my car and what im working with. sorry its sideways. turn your head i guess? lol let me know if you need more info on the trunk.

  4. i say you start off with something small and work your way up. my first setup was in my first car. it was a 1999 ford f-150. i had a deck i bought at walmart, a old alpine amp i got from my dads friend for free and a 12" mtx jackhammer wich i got from circuit city for 100 bucks. (it was a display model). that was my first set up when i was 15 1/2. then in my benz i had a indash with a 3" screen, same alpine amp, and a kicker comp. now in my current car i have a 7" flip out indash, 300 watt kicker amp, and a 1000 watt kenwood subwoofer mounted in the decklid. i have more plans for this car that will happen over time. gotta start small. i know alot of these builds here a sick and make you want to do a badass crazy build yourself cause i feel the same way. but you gotta remember. im sure that these guys with the badass builds with like 6 18s or 12 15s and stuff like that it is not their first build. my point is start small and dont overwhelm yourself with a build you cant handle cause if you start a build and you cant handle it and you tear up your car for that build or waste alot of money and then change your mind you will be super pissed off. so for your car if you want good bass but dont wanna dish out alot of money and dont wanna overwhelm yourself with a crazy build then id say get a good guage wire, a nice 12" or 15" subwoofer (whatever will fit in your trunk) and put it or them in a nice box. i havnt gotten one yet but id recomend a xs battery to handle the wattage that will be going to that subwoofer.

  5. looking to sell my 7" flip out touchscreen indash. its a planet audio brand. works great. built in bluetooth, sub control, built in ipod control, exc. has preset eq settings or you can set the bass and treble where you want it. i have the remote for it as well. also have the origional box for it. i just want a regular deck thats why im selling it. im looking for $275 for it. +shipping of course if you are not local. (im sure itll fit in a flat rate box) send me a message if your interested. the deck has no problems what so ever.

  6. I can tell by your terminology you're from nor cal. And since you're using toxic audio components. You're from the sac area. PM me if you need some help bro. And replace those comps ASAP. they'll die quickly under amp power.

    Freaking Sherlock Holmes Right Here!

and i dont mean that in a condescending way. thats just funny how you derived where he is from by his terminology and equipment.

funny cause i am in sac too ahah

they have stock amps to them now. ive been following steves posts on youtube and i gotta say hes my idol. lol ive been considering changing them but im not sure. i dont want anything crazy with the doors for this car like steve does i want to keep it simple with the doors but i want major slap and still have trunk space. i want to enter contests and stuff some day soon

  8. the term you're looking for is "infinite baffle" and i can almost guarantee you that sub would sound better and louder in a nice ported box.

yes that is the word i was looking for.. where i bought it said that it can be used as a "infinate baffle" subwoofer. are you suggesting using the hole i cut for this sub as a port?

You could be different and build a box to fit around where you have it right now, then do a 4 inch aero into the cabin as well.

Or a 4th order and use your current sub cutout hole as a port

i was going to build a box undernieth it but im having second thoughts now on weither or not ill be able to make the box air tight. my trunk has some weird curves to it. and i had some thoughts of how the box will stick to the metal and everything. i have a baby on the way so i need as much trunk room as possible. that was the whole reason i did put it in the decklid.

  9. so i have a 1994 infiniti g20T. i bought the car with toxic audio 6x5s all around and toxic tweeters in the pillars. they sound nice so i just plan to put a amp to those for now possibly. i used to have a 12" kicker in the trunk. but now i recently put a 10" kenwood 1000 watt max sub in the decklid. im not hella good at doing stereo jobs but im decent. now my question is since i put the sub in the decklid it doesnt sound how i thought it would i thought it would be louder since the subs physically in the car but its not. where i bought it it say that it can be a free air subwoofer and thats what it is right now. should i build a custom box to go under it to make it sound better or should i just take it out and doe something custom in the trunk and make the hole i cut in the decklid a port of some sort? im really stuck on this and car audio is my passion.

heres a picture of the sub in the decklid i never finished i was going to recarpet the decklid to look better but now i dont know if i want the subwoofer there.

i used wood screws for now.

heres a kinda shitty video of how it sounds.. i used a ipod 4g ipod and it only picked up the low notes off the sub.
