  1. Just wondering, with a slot port running down the middle and the branching off left and right at the back, does the width stay the same or is it 1/2 the width? I've always done 1/2 the width and now I'm not sure.

So in my sketch-up the port shrinks to 3 1/8" at the back, or does it stay 6 1/4 on both sides:

  2. I've got 3 and 1/2 SA8 v1.5's. Bought one that needed reconed, then bought 2 more off a kid on CL in a pos ported box. Tried to order a drop in recone kit for the one from Jacob at sundown, he shipped me a complete freshly reconed sub for price of drop in recone and basket! So still have just the motor too!

I build a .6cuft box tuned to 36 for the fresh recone. It doesn't compare at all to the btl, but I would say it compared to some of my past (late 90's) set-ups with dual 10"/12" on 400w or so. Pretty impressive. The v2's = beast!

  3. I built this six years ago and decided I'd post it up here. This was about the 6th box I had made, knowing what I know now I would do a lot of things different but still happy with it. LoL I still haven't finished it, just sitting in bare mdf, someday I'll at least throw a coat of paint on it.

Box is 12.5ft3 approx after displacement tuned via 8" sonotube port

Subs are Soundsplinter RLP 15 d4's (tc based, I think 3hp?)

Powered by a Behringher Europower ep2400 amp, clamped it and think it was close to 1200w

Cramed it in a closet with subs firing back

Lots of plaster patching on my 100 year old house!

    Thing pounds hard!

    Got Screws?

6 years later, surround got a little dry and grayish, I just rubbed a little armorall on the rubber and like new

Rewired with some left over knu 8awg, the backs of the motors have oxidized too. Also I re-tuned it from 15hz to 28hz. cutting that tube out with a pocket knife was a bitch! Thinking flared 8" aero now.

  4. Re-worked my box a little, put some big 45s in three corners to take box from 5.3 cuft to 4.6ft and tuning from 29hz up to 32hz. Also resined the inside to seal it up good. Still need to do some vertical bracing, probably a couple of 2x2 or something.

    the resined 45s:

    little window flex:

Need better/more batteries and I'm going to go down to .5 ohm. Tried it with stock battery and dc power 270xp, voltage drops to 11's quick!

  5. Just getting around to getting some of my stuff installed/finished. 15 BTL N2 d1 @ 2ohm for now on a SAZ-3000d. Box is 5.2ish ft3 @ 30hz 8" aero. Might do some additional bracing, maybe threaded rod or something.

Mossy oak? in a Camry? Yep, lol! Will clean up the wiring once the 1/0 Knu goes in, this is still my old 4 knu from the last set up (2x12" type arghs and pdx 1.1000). Still need to do the other 2 pieces of the floor, waiting to see if I need additional battery before they get cut.

Resolved my issuse with DC Power Engineering, got the correct harness and a spacer to put the 270 xp on. Very little voltage drop with the amp wired @ 2 ohm.

  6. Are you prepared for how long that 8" aero is going to need to be for that low tuning?

Yeah should be about 30"? And I've been kicking around the idea of sealing it off, but am going to go with the rear firing drivers side port for now, maybe when it's warmer out i'll try and build a new forward firing box and seal it off.

  7. DC power kyle had 2 15" SMD firing forward in his 03 camary on 4 RF 2500bdcp's. sealed off firing forward with port going through rear deck. Got stupid low. So you can do a 15 firing forward in that car. Suggest using glass to seal it off on the front of the box.

are there any pics or a build thread on this? I'd really be interested in seeing those.

I think I'm going to build firing rear and port driverside box first and see how bad the trunk rattle is, then in spring try a forward box and seal it off.

  8. I've got a 2003 Camry and am about to start a new build. Going with one 15" Fi BTL N2 D1 on a Sundown SAZ-3000d. Probably going to go with it wired at 2ohms for now, may try .5 or may order a dual 2 ohm recone. Building a 4.8ft3 ported box with an 8" aero tuning low at 28hz.

My question is to do port/sub forward and seal it off and run it with back seat folded down or to put sub firing back and port on drivers side.

I am not after a loud burp or a one-note sub, want a good daily set-up that will get as loud as possible with this single 15 and 3000 watts.

    Suggestions?

  9. Hey just signed up and about to start my first serious trunk build. I've got a 15 BTL n2 d1 and a sundown saz3000d to work with, the 0 awg/alt/ and possibly xs 3100 will go in before the box/amp. plan on running the amp at 2 ohms but may try .5 ohms to see what it's like.

I have a 2003 Camry and I'm unsure of driver/port placement as far as what will sound the best/get the loudest. I am not looking for a number on this at all, want a good daily system. Looking to do 4.5 cubes after port/driver and port it with one 8" flared pvc port and tuned to 28hz.

I am now realizing that this port may not have quite the area I need. Will one 8" "aeroport" be enough? Will the saz3000d @ 2 ohms (roughly 1600 watts) be enough to push this BTL?

Any recommendations as far as driver port enclosure go?
