Hi all, new here.
I'm thinking of adding sound dampening to my single cab F150 to address some rattling and weak spots in the audio. I've recently started listening to Dubstep and never before have I wanted a hard hitting mobile audio system. At the same time, I'd like to make the cab interior as quiet as possible since I'll be spending time taking off the panels and such. (also because these trucks aren't built to be luxury quiet)
From the research I've done, it looks like my best bet is:
For audio: Alpha Damp @ minimum 25% coverage per panel. For my application, this would be the doors, back wall, and maybe the floor.
For external noise reduction: Luxury Liner Pro. This would apply on top of the Alpha Damp.
A few question I have:
1. Is the Luxury Liner intended to be applied also @ minimum 25% coverage? The reason I'm confused here is that since I'll only have minimum coverage with Alpha Damp, I assume I can/should only apply Luxury Liner on top of a vibration damper. Or, is Luxury Liner something you're supposed to apply all over?
2. What is the likelihood that applying either product (or a combo) will interfere with getting panels properly back in place?
3. Does anyone know if speaker grilles can contribute to rattling or sound problems? The door panels on my F150 have integral speaker grilles and I wonder if they are a weakpoint where the vibration from the speaker can cause the plastic door panel to flex. You can see in the sample pic below (not mine) that this fellow actually cut around his speaker (not the best job, IMHO).
