alrighty, yea i was looking on partsexpress and they just had a 10 and 12 watt, but i will look at radio shack tommorw after class and see whats up.
-
dang son any pics?
-
k but then i saw some when they had them hooked up across, going from positive to negitve just before the tweeter but i dont know i think that is for a highpass filter. but a 12 watt resistor i dont think thats big enough? i have a 50 watt tweeter?
-
k i looked and found some lower ohm resistors. but they say there only rated to 10 or 12 watts? will these work? and how would i hook them up? im going to read up on some crossovers again at the 12volt.
-
thats what i originally thought but ive never seen a 8 or 4 ohm resisotr that would be able to handle like 45 watts or maby i should go with like 35 so the resistor burns out before the tweeter dose.
-
i can disconnect everything. currently the only thing in there for the crossover is a capacitor on the tweeter. I would like to put a coil on the woofer to block out the higher freq on the woofer. i can change the wiring. but maby a nother amp powering them is the only thing i can do.

so i got these PA speakers that i bought. There is a 600 watt 15" sub along with a 50 watt tweeter in each box. Both drivers are rated 8 ohms and they are wired in parellel so at the terminal it shows 4 ohms. my question is, is there a way to maby put a resistor in line with the tweeter so the sub gets most of the power. cause i already blew 2 tweeters cause i turned it up to much so it would hit some bass but then the tweeter could not handle it. So what are the possible options so that the sub gets more power and the tweeter gets less? Please let me know. thanks.

i aint even gonna hate man i used to do the same shit when i was a teenager
Times 2
Would piss the neihbors off all the time. I just slowly gatherd random subs and made boxes for them and just kept stacking them higher and higher. I think at one point i had like 2 15s 4 12s 4 10s and some 3 way towers all stacked up in huge hedious boxes. shit was nuts to see but thats what i did when i was 15 and had nothing to do

Love Harman Kardon Thats my favorite next to some denon's.

Also check out Partsexpress.com they have a whole diy speaker building section.

keep in mind you'll spend like tripple if not more on making this system setup because you need power inverter/converters to go from 120v to 12v and you have to have the right powerlines and proper amps and reciever to power these speakers.
The box build will be the easiest and cheapest part to do but without the proper tuning it wouldnt be worth it at all.
Why would you need a power inverter? for the highs some recievers take 4 ohm loads. and for the sub i highly recomend buying a plate amp as they are called. look at these: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?we...ectGroup_ID=505
I got 1 pioneer 12" running off a plate amp and the box i made my self and finished it nice. and it is by far the best powered sub ive herd for only 175 that i put into everything for it. And you would not want to run a 12v amp to them anywase, it would just be to much work and a waste of money.
-
at 160 i think i would to. But yet ive never herd 160 on the inside. only high 160s on the outside.
-
so yo have 2 amps going to one sub? if so how did you hook them up? "Linking or Strapping" is when you connect 2 amps to one sub and run it like that. When doing this you usually have a master and a slave. The master controls the slave so there is no need for that. Just explain quick how your set up.

4 hours at 70 bucks an hour at some joints. i say do it yourself, gaskets are not that hard to do. i would first make sure there is no air in the system, and if there is get all the air out of the system.

hey whats wrong with it? i know those 4.3s like the back of my head glad to help ya with anything. give us some info on what they said was bad and a lil about the truck
