  1. Wicks, I think the unit will do 2v if I max out the volume, with Loud on and everything maxed. Rogers, I don't think so, I got the subsonic set to about 25 and low pass around 120 or 12 o'clock. But I also got the low pass turned on at the HU and it is set to 80hz. Kranny, You are right it does have a setting for the sub. But I thought that was like an EQ boost or something. Lastly I spoke with Sonix (where I got the amp from). They said I need to upgrade my car battery and the Alternator to get full power. Does that sound right? Everything is stock right now. Since the Hifonics needs lot of juice I guess that could be my problem. Having said that I had the stereo running at moderate level and the car on idle, I don't see headlight dimming or voltage drop when the bass note hit, I tested the voltage at the battery. THANKS!
  2. First off I just want to thanks everyone for helping. Having said that I still can't figure out what is going on. I downloaded a 50hz test tone. The volume range on my HU go from 0-50. I turn my HU up to 30, anything above it the speakers will start to distort. With the test tone running, volume at 30 and the gain max out at 0.2v I am get only 18v from the speaker output on the amp. My 500/1 didn't have this problem with this HU. Could there be something wrong with my amp or my alternator not pumping enough amperage to the Amp? THANKS
  3. Would the direction of the subs make a huge different? When I only have one sub it was facing the bumper. Now I have it facing up toward the rear deck. As for setting the gain I downloaded some test tone and will try it again after work.
  4. I have a Sony CDX-GT630UI the preamp out according to the manual is 2.0v. I used the dedicated sub out from the head unit to the amp. If 0.2v is the max it still doesn't make sense since when the test tone is playing it is only reading 2.9v at the speaker output. When I turn the gain higher to like the halfway point it reads 1.8v from the speaker output. Either way when the gain is at the halfway point, the speaker out should be way higher than 1.8v. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the amp?
  5. OK I double check the wiring and it looks fine (took both subs out to check). I also checked all wiring to the amp and stuff and they all look fine. I try to set the gain using a DMM but not sure what is going on with it. I watch some youtube videos and follow what I found online. Since the amp is rated 2400w @ 1 ohm, the voltage should be 48.9. I turned off loud and all EQ on the head unit and on the amp. Turn the gain to 0.2v, when I hooked up the DMM to the amp output I get 2.9 VAC. As I turn the gain towards 9v the VAC drops!!!! I figure it might be the DMM, so I tested it on an outlet and it read 122 VAC so I know the DMM is fine. Anyone got any suggestion?
  6. This is how I wired it. Sorry for the bad illustration. I know it looks different from the 12volt site, but it should be the same right? As the the gain adjustment I took the range of the amp setting 0.2v to 6v. 6v-0.2v = 5.8/2 = 2.9. So at the half point of the dial the voltage should be 2.9. From that point I backed it down a bit. Is there a more accurate way to set it?
  7. Hello this is my first post, but I been reading a lot. However I still can't figure out what is happening with my system. Originally I have one HCCA 10.4 in a .9 cu ft sealed box stuff with 1 lb of poly power by a JL 500/1. Before I get flame I know I was way under powering it and the box isn't exactly to Orion spec. So I rebuilt the whole system did the big 3, ran new 0 gauge wires, got a new Hifonic Brz2400, and added another HCCA 10.4. I built a new box to Orion spec 1 cu ft per sub each independantly sealed. Long story short no matter what adjustment I made it still seems the single sub sounded louder. Right now the subs are wired as 1 ohm so it should be getting the full 2400 watts. I don't have any dimming light and the voltage stay above 14v. The only adjust that seemed to help was the phase shift which I set it to reverse. The preamp voltage should be close to the 2v from my head unit. Anyone got any idea why? THANKS
